Fantasy premier league team tips GW9 – FFGeek contributors show their GW9 teams part 2

Here’s part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

You can see the link to the part 1 contributors article here.

Robert Cosgrove

Robert finished with an OR of 20k last season and 23k in 16/17

GW8 points: 68  (average 50) Total points 533, Gameweek rank 734k, Overall Rank: 38k, green arrow 9k, Team Value: £102.7m

2 free transfers this week which I have done Smalling OUT Alexander Arnold IN and Zaha OUT Arnautovic IN. I wanted to use 1 free transfer for Walcott to Richarlison but the injury doubt to Zaha forced my other transfer here as it was more important. I’m hoping TAA and Salah play as my bench is rather weak.

Prakhar Patel

Prakhar finished in 17th overall in fantasy premier league last season.  An amazing achievement

GW8 points: 73  (average 50) Total points 511, Gameweek rank 420k, Overall Rank: 108k, green arrow 71k, Team Value: £102.5m

This is how the team looks right now and no position is demanding any immediate changes except Trippier which I might do on Saturday to Mendy or Robertson.
Captaincy goes to Salah for me as he is passed fit to face Huddersfield and I expect him to return big!!

Good luck everyone and may your arrows be green.

Gameweek 8 review

I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever been happier with returns from players than I was on Saturday after 5 of my 6 players returned. They amassed a total of 55 points between them and I still had Salah (c), Mane, Aguero, Alonso and Luiz left to play. I honestly thought this could have been one of my best weeks ever if Liverpool vs Man City was similar to the game at Anfield in the league last year. Overnight I broke into top 10k for the first time in my FPL career (which is basically one year). Doherty scored me 15, Patricio 9, Trippier 7, Wilson 14 and Richarlison 7. It was only Moura that didn’t return and he still got 3 points.

My hope for Sunday was a Chelsea clean sheet, Hazard to blank and Liverpool vs Man City to be a high scoring game. Only one of those came true and so unfortunately that brought my gameweek score back down to earth. 77 was definitely still a good week and it gave me a 26k green arrow up to 24k OR, but it could have been so much more so it was a little bit gutting. Either way, I’m happy with a great week and now that Liverpool’s tough fixtures are out the way I’m hoping my patience of holding onto both Salah and Mane will be rewarded with some big scores against the 3 worst defences in the league over their next 4 gameweeks.

So even though Trent was dropped I’m pretty confident he’ll be back at RB next game with Gomez back at CB as Trent is the better RB and Gomez has been outstanding at CB so far this year. I also transferred out Trippier for Mendy as personally I don’t think Spurs will keep a clean sheet away against West Ham with the form West Ham’s front three are in and I do expect Man City to keep a clean sheet against Burnley. This means I’ve done my first -4 of the season. Normally I would always advise against doing a hit for defensive transfers but both Mendy and Trent possess offensive threat and I think Trent and Mendy are both far more likely to keep clean sheets against Huddersfield and Burnley than Trippier and Luiz against West Ham and Man United respectively.

Bench Decisions

Both Wan-Bissaka and Hughes are definites on my bench as away at Everton and away at Wolves aren’t good games. The only decision really for me was whether to play Doherty at home versus Watford or play Ings away versus Bournemouth. Wolves are 5/4 to keep a clean sheet and Doherty has scored 1 and assisted 2 in his last 4 gameweeks (could have been even more as well as he’s had some excellent chances he’s missed) whereas Danny Ings’ anytime goalscorer odds are 13/8 therefore I’m going to put Doherty in the line up.

Has to be Salah this week. He may not have been performing well lately but his underlying stats are too good for it to stay that way in my opinion. Aguero is another good option home against Burnley but I’m going to hold faith and go with Salah.

Costas Chari

Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17

GW8 points: 46 -4 (average 50) Total points 522, Gameweek rank 3,358k, Overall Rank: 68k, red arrow 49k, Team Value: £102.6m

Hello all,

Ok so before my transfers I had 5 injured players (Mane, Fraser, Shaw, Stephens, Peltier). I was contemplating on the wildcard all week but I didn’t in the end.

Mane and Stephens are out. Mane I am a bit disappointed recently and was looking for an excuse to let him go so with the injury it was a no brainer as price will drop as well. I went for Shaqiri as a differential and Liverpool cover & saved funds to upgrade Stephens to Richarlison.

I will start Shaw instead of Wan-Bissaka.

Captain- Aguero!

Good luck to everyone

Sergio Torija

Sergio finished with an OR of 17k last season and 21k in 16/17

GW8 points: 32  (average 50) Total points 473, Gameweek rank 5,251k, Overall Rank: 439k, red arrow 281k, Team Value: £101.6m

GW8 was terrible with only 32 points and GW rank in the 5 million. And it could have been much worse, since 15 of those points were provided by Doherty, who I originally had on the bench and just put him in the starting eleven the last moment before the deadline. The Kane move didn’t help, but was not to blame with the rest of the team not returning.

Looking at GW9, I had 3 flags in Shaw, Mane and Salah. Two of my premium mids flagged was too much to take, so I decided to move out the one that looks more like missing the game, Mane out Richarlison in. Defence looks weak this week, I’ve considered bringing in a Newcastle defender, but that is for a hit, so I’ve decided against it. Captain is Kane at the moment, but I am still thinking on taking a hit to replace him for a Aguero.

Good luck for GW9 Geekers !

  1. Think I’m going Vardy (c) this week. Arsenal have been lucky to not concede more against weak opposition (thanks Ted Knutson at StatsBomb). Burnley aren’t that bad, and I don’t have Salah.
