Introduction

Continuing the series of  the FFGeek Contributors with their early draft teams post the fixtures being released.  They are just that and they will change over time but hopefully it will give you something to work with.

Kris O

Kris’s last 4 seasons overall rank were 39k, 44k, 46k and 23k

Current team which is trying to avoid an early wildcard. Knowing best laid plans can go wrong, especially early I’m contemplating attacking first two game weeks, playing WC in gameweek three.

For me key decisions/influences are:

1. The third pool asset (currently Robertson).

2. What Utd/City assets to have in first week and how to bring them in future weeks.

3. Whether to move off Aubameyang in gameweek three.

4. Number fixture based players (Leicester, Spurs).

5. Availability of viable cheap options, especially 4.5 mids and forwards.

Good luck with your tinkering all!

Rick Porter

Rick’s last 4 seasons overall ranks were 29k, 1k, 30k and 2k.

After much tinkering, this is my latest team. I’m happy in most areas. My keepers have plenty of potential for their price but need monitoring, the backline includes the two most expensive (and explosive) defenders in the game, and my midfield has more big names than I feel should be possible.

Forwards

The cost of all this is that my forwards are bit lacking. Ings is strong enough, but he outperformed his stats last season and I fully expect to see more of Adams this year. I’d prefer (and could afford) Vardy for his fixtures or Werner for his potential but I need to keep a cool 1.5m in the bank so I can stick to my plan of swapping Son to Bruno in GW2. GW3 would then see me drop Aubameyang for De Bruyne, giving me modest representation from both Manchester squads with no hits or chips.

I’m probably being a little unrealistic in thinking I’ll be able to spend my first two free transfers as I wish without something else demanding their use, so I might switch Son for Bruno and play Soueck in GW1. It weakens my team for the first week, but gives me a spare FT in GW2 that I can use to react to an emerging essential buy or keep for flexibility later.

Wildcard?

Playing on my mind though is the fact that, historically, I always use my Wildcard early doors. In fact, the last few years have seen me Wildcard in either GW2, GW3 or GW4. So it’s tempting to just accept the fact that my Wildcard will be burnt in the first few weeks anyway. That means not having to worry about keeping the sizable 1.5m in the bank or benching a 10.5m assets and, instead, focusing on having the best GW1 I can. Any other year that’s probably the route I’d take, but we are living in uncertain times and the schedule could easily get altered with very little notice. Having the Wildcard in my back pocket for as long as possible will be very reassuring.

Here’s my latest draft:
