Gameweek 8
I went into GW8 in detail in my early thoughts article so I won’t go into it too much here.
GW8 points: 70 (average 50) Total points 538, Gameweek rank 611k, Overall Rank: 28k, green arrow 12k, Team Value: £102.4m
Here’s the points:
So if you define a good week by a gameweek rank under 1 million and a green arrow then it was a good week. Also 6 out of 11 players returned with 3 of those double figure hauls. It tends to cover up the mistake that was swapping Kane for Aguero and the fact that I now can’t get Mendy in this week. A sacrifice I knowingly made. As I said I had my doubts before hand but I was just too emotionally invested by the time the Mendy fitness broke.
Anyway it could have been a lot worse so time to move on.
Monitor List
So I’ve come up with a new table to help me plan around my team in the short and longer term. Now I’m not sure how realistic the concept of planning is as I think 2/3 of my transfers last season were reactive rather than pro active. What I mean is a reaction to an injury or losing their place in the team. It could even extend to covering a big captain favourite.
The table is self explanatory but here are the definitions anyway
GW9 odds CS*/ATGS A bookies odds for clean sheets or anytime goal scoring. I’ve ignored the 2 midfield bench warmers
Pot Exit Point. Then I’ve tried to mark in a potential exit point for a player generally based on fixtures and match it up with someone incoming. If I say unknown it’s because I don’t have anyone yet. If it says ASAP on exit point then it’s as soon as an opportunity arises. If it says none, I have no current plans on removing them
I’ve assumed the Kane out Aguero in transfer is done.
This pretty much sums up how I feel about the team at the moment. Mendy in after the Spurs/Man City game with Lacazette to fund it. At the moment how Mendy comes in and whether Foster goes and who comes in still needs work as does Fraser.
Transfer options
1 free transfer and £0.2m in the bank.
The transfer this week is definitely Kane out Aguero in. You may recall that my definition of essential is owned by 7/10 of the 10 top managers I follow or 70% of the top 10k. Aguero is 8/10 of the former and 68% of the latter so therefore is back in the side. He also looks like he will be a big captain favourite this week home to Burnley with active FPL managers. It was a planned transfer anyway.
The Salah injury doubt is obviously not ideal. He’s been pictured in training but still needs an assessment whether he will play or not depending on the reaction to training. I would have needed a more longer term injury to get him out.
Therefore the transfer is Kane out Aguero in
Lineup
No issues there. Wan Bissaka on the bench v Everton. Ward is injured and a permanent bench warmer as is Hojbjerg
Captain
I haven’t done a captain article yet but what I’ve seen of the poll Aguero looks like he will be my captain. I’ll put Hazard as vice as I feel certain he’ll play. I’ve yet to experience a captain and vice no show but it’s always in the back of my mind
The team
Here’s the lineup then:
Good luck to everyone!
