This is the 3rd article in our player rankings series. See the defender and GK player rankings and midfield player rankings

Methodology

I’ve generally started with a selection of forwards that I think will start GW26 and have some longevity in the team.

I’ve then looked at their expected goals and assists data in 18/19 so far as well as how it relates to their historical numbers. After that I’ve then adjusted it for their ability to over/underperform, their bonus potential, their fixtures over the next 6 and any specific 18/19 factors and numbers. This is very different to my recent underlying stats article which took this seasons underlying stats adjusting it only for the average minutes played in the last 4 games

Whether you believe the rankings or not there’s plenty of information to make your own decision

Stats definitions

SP/Pen: indicates whether the player has some set piece representation or penalty responsibility. Pen (2) means they are 2nd in line for penalties.

BGW/DGW: This indicates whether they have a confirmed game in a blank gameweek or they have a confirmed double gameweek. See our blanks and doubles article

PP90 mins adjusted: I’ve taken their Points per 90 for my projected minutes over the next 6.

FFG Proj PPG next 6: The PPG for the next 6 resulting from my analysis as outlined above.

Consistency: the % of starts where the player has scored a goal or assist. Sub appearances are ignored.

Projected Mins: I’ve made an assessment on projected minutes for the next 6 based on the season so far.

ATGS odds – 1 bookies anytime goalscoring odds for the player. It assumes they start and doesn’t include assist potential.

A quick note re upcoming blank and double gameweeks

See my latest article on the blank and double gameweeks

It’s important to note that in the schedule below Game BGW means they HAVE a game in what will be the blank weeks on BGW31 and BGW33. No game BGW27 means they DONT have a game in that EFL final gameweek

Use Joseph Crilleys google spreadsheet to plan your team around the blanks

The schedule

The schedule ranks players by the FFG projected PPG over the next 5 games.

I’ve removed the shot and xG data to make it easier to read especially on a phone.  It’s all in our cumulative underlying stats article if you want to see it

If difficult to read you can copy and paste it by using this link to the google spreadsheet. The spreadsheet should be easy to sort into the various columns as I’ve separated them out apart from the consistency fractions.

A couple of notes

I haven’t put Higuain in the schedule as it’s too early to make any evaluation.  With Man City and a blank next for the EFL final we’ll be better placed then.  Similar for Niasse and Batshuayi who have just joined their clubs.

Aguero is quite low as he has a blank in GW27 and Chelsea next.  Plus his minutes have been farly poor as he’s often been subbed early

Similarly many will think Jimenez is quite low.  His xG isn’t great plus at Madrid his ability to match his xG wasn’t great either.  However he has been consistent, has good recent form and has good fixtures next plus his shot volumes are good.  So if you prefer that data he’s a good pick.

Many will think Vardy is quite high for his returns and consistency.  He has under performed his underlying stats this season when he previously has consistently over performed them.  Will he correct this or is it a function of the Puel system on Jamie Vardy.  He also has a decent run of fixtures after Spurs.
