Here’s our fantasy premier league transfer tips GW15 article where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers. These 10 managers have not finished outside the overall rank of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

The criteria I’ve always been looking for is managers who’ve finished in the top 10k for the last 3 years when FPL has become considerably harder due to the amount of people playing and the information available.
The 10 managers stats
I’ve given the identities and FPL IDs of the 10 FPL managers in the FFGeek Patreon site
It includes our very own Yaniv Salomon who you can follow on twitter here
These managers are incredible and every bit as impressive as last season.
1. The overall average finishing overall rank of the top 10 managers in the last 3 seasons is 3,860
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons (ie 30 times playing)
3. 7 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000 in the last 3 seasons
4. 1 of the 10 have finished in the top 100 in the last 3 seasons
Their basic stats after GW14 Sunday’s games

The average team value was £104.0m.

GW14 Captain Choice
10 managers captained Fernandes
The FFGeek Captain Poll was not representative as the late Salah benching rumours changed peoples actions and therefore it’s not relevant.
4 managers played 3-4-3
5 managers played 3-5-2
1 manager played 4-4-2
2 managers carried over the free transfer
2 managers took a 4 point hit
Charlie Taylor was transferred in 5 times
Bruno Fernandes was transferred in 2 times
no other player was transferred in more than once
Kilman was transferred out twice
No player was transferred out more than once
Wildcards and Chips
9 managers have used their wildcards to date. 1 has used his triple captain chip
No managers used their wildcard in this gameweek.
The top 10k overall rank vs the 10 FPL managers
Here’s a comparison between the top 10k overall rank ownership % and the 10 top FPL managers. You can see there are huge differences in the 3rd column so plenty of places to make ground.
The 10 top managers favour the following players significantly compared to the top 10k
Martinez, Lamptey, Dallas , C Taylor and De Bruyne
The top 10k favour the following players over the top 10k
McCarthy and Kane
I use the 10 managers as a proxy for serious managers teams and have a basic rule of thumb that if 7 of the 10 managers have a player or a team defence then I will seriously consider getting that player .
Here’s the template on that basis. The difficulty with tracking the template is that you’re 1 game behind it as you obviously can’t see what their transfers are leading up to the gameweek opening.
Villa defence – Martinez
Chelsea defence – Chilwell
That’s 8 players.
The Brighton defence is also represented 7 times but will be on the FPL bench often so could be excused from the template. Leeds have 7 defenders although 1 is Douglas who’s on loan at Blackburn so I haven’t counted him.
One managers team
Top scorer so far this week is our very own FFGeek Contributor who is part of the 10 top FPL managers in Yaniv Salomon. His score so far is 96 points.
He is 5th in the ranking at 70k overall rank. His last 3 seasons are outstanding at 3k, 4k and 8k.
He has 7 of the 8 template players. He doesn’t have Son. He has no direct or indirect replacement.
The combined 10 top FPL managers teams
Here’s a team which tries to make a combination from the most represented players. Please note that it is meant to be a menu of players to help you choose your transfer rather than a realistic team and it’s value is not necessarily achievable. This week it is definitely not achievable at £107.7m
