Here’s our fantasy premier league transfer tips GW21 article where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers. These 10 managers have not finished outside the overall rank of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

Introduction
The criteria I’ve always been looking for is managers who’ve finished in the top 10k for the last 3 years when FPL has become considerably harder due to the amount of people playing and the information available.
The 10 managers stats
I’ve given the identities and FPL IDs of the 10 FPL managers in the FFGeek Patreon site
It includes our very own Yaniv Salomon who you can follow on twitter here
These managers are incredible and every bit as impressive as last season.
1. The overall average finishing overall rank of the top 10 managers in the last 3 seasons is 3,860
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons (ie 30 times playing)
3. 7 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000 in the last 3 seasons
4. 1 of the 10 have finished in the top 100 in the last 3 seasons
Their basic stats after GW20 Wednesday
There were 4 green arrows and 6 red arrows
The average points score in GW20 after Wednesday was 45 net of point deductions for extra transfers
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers was 100k.
The median overall rank was 28k
The average total points are 1,272.
The average team value was £104.7m.
The combined total of individual players
I’ve generally only included where there is a minimum of a player in 3 out of the 10 FPL managers teams
Goalkeeper/Defence by player
Martinez is in 9 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Coufal and Dallas are in 8 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Stones, Dias and Forster are in 5 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Cancelo is in 4 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Robertson, Justin and Chilwell are in 3 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Goalkeeper/Defence by team
I have stripped out non playing GKs

West Ham are represented 11 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Villa are represented 9 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Leeds are represented 8 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester are represented 3 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Midfielders

Soucek is in 4 of the 10 FPL managers teams

No other player was transferred out more than once
Wildcards and Chips
1 manager has used his 2nd wildcard
4 have now used their triple captain chip
3 managers have used their bench boost
The top 10k overall rank vs the 10 FPL managers
Here’s a comparison between the top 10k overall rank ownership % and the 10 top FPL managers. The differences in the 3rd column are narrowing
The 10 top managers favour Martinez and Coufal significantly more than the top 10k
The top 10k favour McCarthy and Kane more than the 10 top Managers
The template
I use the 10 managers as a proxy for serious managers teams and have a basic rule of thumb that if 7 of the 10 managers have a player or a team defence then I will seriously consider getting that player .
Here’s the template on that basis. The difficulty with tracking the template is that you’re 1 game behind it as you obviously can’t see what their transfers are leading up to the gameweek opening.
Villa defence – Martinez
Leeds defence – Dallas
Man City defence – Dias or Stones or Cancelo
West Ham defence – Coufal
Salah
De Bruyne
Fernandes
Son
Bamford
Antonio
That’s 9 players. Gundogan is owned by 6 managers so that could easily be 7 next week
One managers team
After Wednesday’s games he’s scored 65 points with total points of 1,271 and an overall rank of 28k. His team value is £105.2m
His previous 3 seasons are 9k, 2k and top 1k. He has used triple captain chip
The combined 10 top FPL managers teams
Here’s a team which tries to make a combination from the most represented players. Please note that it is meant to be a menu of players to help you choose your transfer rather than a realistic team and it’s value is not necessarily achievable. This week it is achievable at £102.1m
