GW5 saw 4 of the 10 top FPL managers use their wildcards. You can see all of them here. Here’s our fantasy premier league transfer tips GW6 article where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers. These 10 managers have not finished outside the overall rank of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

Introduction
The criteria I’ve always been looking for is managers who’ve finished in the top 10k for the last 3 years when FPL has become considerably harder due to the amount of people playing and the information available.
This article was written before Mondays GW5 games. I will update the article after Monday
The 10 managers stats
I’ve given the identities and FPL IDs of the 10 FPL managers in the FFGeek Patreon site
It includes our very own Yaniv Salomon who you can follow on twitter here
These managers are incredible and every bit as impressive as last season.
1. The overall average finishing overall rank of the top 10 managers in the last 3 seasons is 3,860
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons (ie 30 times playing)
3. 7 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000 in the last 3 seasons
4. 1 of the 10 have finished in the top 100 in the last 3 seasons
Their basic stats after Sunday GW5
There were 7 green arrows and 3 red arrows
The average points score in GW5 after Sundays games was 71.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers was 393k. That’s 237k better than last weeks average of 630k
The median overall rank was 238k
The average total points are 316
The average team value was £101.3m.
The combined total of individual players
I’ve generally only included where there is a minimum of a player in 3 out of the 10 FPL managers teams
Goalkeeper/Defence by player
Martinez is in 7 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Steer, Alexander Arnold, Lamptey and Mitchell are in 6 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Robertson, Walker Peters and Dallas are in 5 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Justin is in 4 of the 10 FPL managers teams
McCarthy and Foster are in 3 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Goalkeeper/Defence by team
Villa are represented 13 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Liverpool and Southampton are represented 11 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
C Palace, Brighton and Leeds are represented 6 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Leicester are represented 5 times in the 10 managers teams
Wolves are represented 4 times in the 10 FPL managers teams
Midfielders
Son is in 10 of the FPL managers teams
Salah is in 9 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Rodriguez is in 7 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Grealish is in 5 of the FPL managers teams
Bissouma is in 4 of the 10 managers teams
Pulisic is in 3 of the 10 managers teams
Forwards
Calvert Lewin is in 8 of the 10 FPL managers teams
Kane is in 6 of the 10 managers teams
Jimenez, Brewster and Mitrovic are in 3 of the 10 FPL managers teams
GW5 Captain Choice

3 managers captained Salah and Son
The FFGeek Captain Poll showed 27% were captaining Kane and 26% Salah and 18% Son
Formations
6 managers played 3-4-3
3 managers played 3-5-2
1 manager played 4-3-3
Transfers:
Wildcards have distorted this week so I won’t do this
Wildcards and Chips
2 managers had used their wildcards. I has used his triple captain chip
4 managers used their wildcard in this gameweek. Here are all of them as well as the points gained
Wildcader 1. Points after Sunday 79
Wildcard 2 (FFGeek Contributor Yaniv) 82 points after Sunday
Wildcard 3 gained 80 points after Sunday
Wildcard 4 gained 84 points after Sunday
The top 10k overall rank vs the 10 FPL managers
I won’t be doing this for a few weeks until it becomes less volatile
The template
I use the 10 managers as a proxy for serious managers teams and have a basic rule of thumb that if 7 of the 10 managers have a player or a team defence then I will seriously consider getting that player .
Here’s the template on that basis. The difficulty with tracking the template is that you’re 1 game behind it as you obviously can’t see what their transfers are leading up to the gameweek opening.
Liverpool defence – Robertson
Southampton defence – Walker Peters
Villa defence – Martinez
Salah
Son
Rodriguez
Calvert Lewin
That’s 7 players. Given Kanes score this week I think he’s likely to be added this week
One managers team
Having given 4 wildcard teams this would seem a bit pointless
The combined 10 top FPL managers teams
Here’s a team which tries to make a combination from the most represented players. Please note that it is meant to be a menu of players to help you choose your transfer rather than a realistic team and it’s value is not necessarily achievable. This week it is achievable at under £100m
