fantasy premier league wildcard – FFGeek team wildcard activated

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Tonight I’ve activated my first fantasy premier league wildcard.  Here’s the team and a few words on the reasoning

fantasy premier league wildcard – FFGeek team wildcard activated

So I didn’t activate the wildcard last night as I wanted to make sure that I thought it was the right thing to do and I wanted to be see if anything came out of the Sunday games to change that.  I was pretty confident that there would be no changes in price on Saturday night so I left it.  In the end I thought the time was right for a refresh.

So firstly I’ll show the transfers and the team.

Firstly the team assumes 2 things.

That Morata won’t be fit for GW8.  That doesn’t sound a certainty but if anything he’ll go down in price and I can buy him for GW8.

That Loftus Cheek won’t be fit for GW8.  Again he could go down in price which would see a buy back.  If the prgnosis is good I may buy him back anyway

The transfers

So here’s the transfers

I then changed Calvert Lewin for Jordan Ayew who I thought was a more secure starter

The thought process and initial structure

I started by putting together the key players that I wanted from each of the top 6 sides as the core players for my team.  I know alot of people criticise coverage but I don’t really see it as coverage.  I see it as spreading risk.  For every Liverpool 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal there will be a 1-1 with Newcastle so I don’t like having my eggs in one basket.  Games  like Arsenal v Brighton today and Huddersfield v Spurs or the Stoke v  Chelsea  game show the split between the expected top 6 and the rest. Also only Watford apart from this expected top 6 have scored 10 goals or more.

In attack these players were

Man City – Jesus or D Silva (I like Sane and Sterling but not sure how much they will play)

Chelsea – only Hazard if Morata isn’t fit.  Chelsea also have a good few fixtures next.

Liverpool – Salah

Spurs – Kane

Man Utd  – Lukau

Arsenal – only Sanchez but too expensive.

Lukaku and Kane the core captain picks

In defence I wanted 3 of the 4 best defensive sides of Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd.

I decided to sacrifice Chelsea as being too expensive with Luiz as the minimum cost of £5.9m.

It proved impossible to get Hazard and Jesus in the team so I had to make my City player Silva and the formation 4-4-2.  That will change if Morata is fit.  Hazard will drop out and Morata in.  I will then go 4-3-3 and probably go for two £4.5m Mids and upgrade Atsu.

Sticking with the Hazard structure, that gave me a core that looked like this with £31.6m for 7 remaining players.  That’s an average of £4.5m per player

The rest of the team

So my main objective in this 4-4-2 was to have everyone except for the reserve GK as being fairly certain of playing.  With no wildcard again until GW34 possibly and European games and Xmas coming up that seemed a sensible option if not the highest potential reward option.

So I went for the 2 best defensive sides that had £4.5m defenders as a start and chose Watford and Burnley.  I may swap Burnley for Leicester with Simpson.  Not 100% sure yet

My £4.5m midfielder will be Loftus Cheek if fit or Tom Carroll if not.

My bench warming forward had to cost £5.0m.  J Ayew of Swansea was the most secure in my mind although initially I was going to chance it with Calvert Lewin or Hemed who is suspended of Brighton

That left me with £4.0m for a reserve GK so I chose Krul of Brighton as the man most likely to get a first team place in the future

That’s just a quick overview.  Any changes will be tweeted at least.  I will also try to facebook post them.  See details to follow below
