Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our fantasy premier league wildcard tips GW20 article where I pretend I’m using my wildcard. It gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek.

Here’s our imaginary wildcard team.  I’ve only put brief comments on the players plus the fixtures.  Also some alternatives if those players don’t work for you.

Structure

So I expect this to be predominantly 3-5-2 but it could easily be 4-5-1.  The team using my values should be under £103m

Goalkeepers

Fabianski

So I see no cheap option which is better than Fabianski for save and bonus points.  The premium options don’t make too much sense to me as Liverpool have good attacking cheap options which I think outweighs the removal of rotation risk that Allison gives.  None of the other premium options work for value or clean sheet potential for me.

Burnley (A)
Brighton (H)
Arsenal (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Wolves (A)
Liverpool (H)

I’ve gone for Button as the reserve GK who should play some games while Ryan is at the Asian games

Defence

Morgan

Apart from Wolves I think Leicester is the best £4.5m defence.  There’s also Pereira and Chilwell who offer more attacking potential but they are over £5m

Cardiff (H)
Everton (A)
Southampton (H)
Wolves (A)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (H)

Luiz

Good fixtures and a 3rd best defence means they are still worth investing in for me.  I would prefer Alonso who I think has some attacking catching up to do but funds don’t permit.  If you’re not convinced Digne is another option with attacking potential and reasonable fixtures

Crystal Palace (A)
Southampton (H)
Newcastle (H)
Arsenal (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Huddersfield (H)

Alexander Arnold

The Liverpool defence is the one producing at the moment while City have their wobbles.  Alexander Arnold is the cheaper version of the defence and will be rotated but all will be to some extent with Van Dijk the safest.  I personally think the attacking potential and value saving is worth it

Arsenal (H)
Man City (A)
Brighton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)

Doherty

Despite the lack of clean sheets I still rate them as the best cheap defence with Doherty one of the better attackers.  Bennett of Wolves is a cheaper option.  Holebas of Watford is also a cheaper option with good fixtures and attacking set piece potential

Spurs (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (A)
Leicester (H)
West Ham (H)
Everton (A)

Wan Bissaka

A cheap defender with bonus potential in a solid defensive team at least at home

Chelsea (H)
Wolves (A)
Watford (H)
Liverpool (A)
Southampton (A)
Fulham (H)

Midfield

Salah

12 goals and 7 assists already plus fantastic underlying stats, the CF position and penalties while Milner isn’t on the pitch.

Arsenal (H)
Man City (A)
Brighton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)

Hazard

Alot of the above applies to Hazard.  Good underlying stats, the CF/false 9 position and definitely has penalties.  Has advantages over Salah of good initial fixtures and a bonus point magnet.

Crystal Palace (A)
Southampton (H)
Newcastle (H)
Arsenal (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Huddersfield (H)

Pereyra

Pereyra is my cheap fixture punt.  Pretty inconsistent but can post big scores.  I’ve talked about him more in my fixture ease article

Newcastle (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Burnley (H)
Spurs (A)
Brighton (A)

Sane

I can’t imagine a team with no City attacker so Sane looks the most secure.  This is where you can insert Pogba if you’ve lost faith or a cheaper Felipe Anderson

Southampton (A)
Liverpool (H)
Wolves (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Newcastle (A)
Arsenal (H)

Richarlison

Still got alot to offer for me plus decent fixtures

Brighton (A)
Leicester (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Southampton (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Wolves (H)

Forwards

Kane

Still some good fixtures in there for him.

Wolves (H)
Cardiff (A)
Man Utd (H)
Fulham (A)
Watford (H)
Newcastle (H)

Ings

Despite a couple of recent underwhelming performances he still offers decent value as a rotatable striker with penalties.

Man City (H)
Chelsea (A)
Leicester (A)
Everton (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Burnley (A)

Kamara

Just a cheap striker for the bench.

Huddersfield (H)
Arsenal (A)
Burnley (A)
Spurs (H)
Brighton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
