fantasy premier league wildcard tips – our GW12 imaginary one

Here’s the team.  Value is a little over £103m

fpl..gw12imagWC2

GK  De Gea Man Utd 7 clean sheets in 10 games 8 goals conceded.  FPL point every 18.0 mins

As LVG says if you continue passing sideways and backwards then the opposition cant score and that seems to be working as they have the most clean sheets and no one has conceded less goals.  They also have good fixtures in the short term.  Unfortunately the defence has seen a lot of rotation with Mike (sorry!) Chris Smalling the only certainty of selection but at the hefty price of £6.5m.  DDG gives a saving of £1m on that.

West Brom (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Norwich (H)

GK Hennesey C Palace 3 clean sheets in 11 games 11 goals conceded.  FPL point every 22.5 mins

A £4.0m reserve GK is ideal as a money saver for your team especially if you’re playing someone like De Gea who you would expect to play every week for your FPL team.  Does have competition but has started the last 5

Liverpool (A)
Sunderland (H)
Newcastle (H)
Everton (A)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)

Def Nyom (0 goal 0 assists) Watford 5 clean sheets in 11 games 10 goals conceded.  FPL point every 22.7 mins

Watford have been so impressive defensively that I’ve rated them 6th in the premier league and their clean sheet and goal conceded recoreded is evidence of that.  Nyom has the best bonus potential although he does seem to attract YCs.  Mixed fixtures especially the next 2.

Leicester (A)
Man Utd (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Norwich (H)
Sunderland (A)
Liverpool (H)

Def Kolarov (1 goal 0 assists) Man City 6 clean sheets in 10 games 9 goals conceded.  FPL point every 16.5 mins

A missed penalty in GW11 against Norwich left him with 0 points unfortunately.  However given lack of gametime security and similar prices for all the defence Kolarovs attacking attributes make him arguably the best pick.  Only Moreno has better creating chances stats.

Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Def Moreno (0 goals 1 assist) Liverpool 4 clean sheets in 11 games 12 goals conceded.  FPL point every 24.0 mins

Ive rated Liverpool as the 4th best defence and Moreno has the best creating chances stats of any defender.  Has excellent security of starts with LB Gomez out with a long term injury.  Fixtures apart from Man City are ok

Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (A)
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)
West Brom (H)
Watford (A)

Def  Simpson (1 goal 0 assists) Leicester 1 clean sheets in 11 games 19 goals conceded.  FPL point every 22.3 mins

The £4.0m Defender has started the last 4 games although with the tinkerman Ranieri in charge it’s hard to think that he has gametime security. However he does provide the ability to invest funds elsewhere.  Leicesters defensive ability is hardly inspiring and I’ve rated them the 14th best defence.  Fixtures are pretty mixed too but he’s likely only to be used in an injury crisis

Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Swansea (A)
Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)

Def Monreal (0 goal 2 assists) Arsenal 6 clean sheets in 11 games 8 goals conceded.  FPL point every 18.7 mins

Only Man Utd have more clean sheets and no team has conceded less goals.  Wenger has said that Koscielny has a small chance of being fit for the weekend although the other Arsenal defender that is next in line FPL wise of Bellerin is definitely out.  That leaves Monreal as the safe starter for GW12 and he’s also slightly cheaper at £5.8m.  However Koscielny has the better attacking potential and would be my choice if fit.  Interestingly Monreal is well ahead on the Bonus Points System though.

Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)

Mahrez  (  FPL point every 9.1 minutes 7 goals 5 assists. 8 returns either goal or assist/10 games  80% consistency return rate)

Hard to say enough superlatives and the figures speak for themselves.  It’s no fluke either as the underlying shooting and creating chances stats are excellent.  Fixtures are a little bit mixed and the question remains how long you will keep Vardy and Mahrez

Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Swansea (A)
Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)

Deulofeu (  FPL point every 10.6 minutes 1 goals 5 assists. 3 returns either goal or assist/9 games  33% consistency return rate)

The consistency rate is deceiving as it includes susbtitute appearances.  In fact it’s 3 returns from 4 starts which togther with the minutes per FPL point shows how good it’s been.  The fixtures are excellent too.  So he does meet the fixture and form criteria.  The issues though are the amount of options Martinez has in midfield and for the RW position.  This is exacerbated by his lack of defensive resolve.  He also has very ordinary underlying creating and especially ordinary shooting stats

West Ham (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)

Ozil  (  FPL point every 13.2 minutes 1 goals 9 assists. 7 returns either goal or assist/10 games  70% consistency return rate)

The CAM is the man in form with 1 goal and 7 assists in his last 5 games and given his central position he’s in a great position to keep returning.  Only negative is that although he’s top of the creating chances stats he has little in the way of shooting stats

Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)

De Bruyne  (  FPL point every 11.6 minutes 3 goals 4 assists. 5 returns either goal or assist/7 games  71% consistency return rate)

Happily didn’t start against Sevilla in the Champions League which is a good sign for rest and playing time for this weekend. Has been playing on the flanks though rather in the centre even after Silva is injured and hard to see that changing with Silva coming back.  Underlying stats though aren’t as good as you would think.  No shooting stats was perhaps accepted given his assist based game but even the creating chances stats are some way off the leaders Ozil and Payet.   Has been very consistent though.  Fixtures are a little mixed

Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)

Sanchez (  FPL point every 12.7 minutes 6 goals 1 assist. 4 returns either goal or assist/11 games  36% consistency return rate)

Blanked in the last 2 but always capable of a big points haul and lack of consistent returns seems to be something you have to accept.  Has the best underlying shooting stats of any midfielder. In their current form fixtures seem irrelevant to Arsenal.

Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)

Pelle (  FPL point every 15.3 minutes 6 goals 5 assists. 6 returns either goal or assist/11 games  55% consistency return rate)

Has been in great form and it’s no fluke as only Giroud and Aguero have better shooting stats.  4 good fixtures with 2 tricky ones

Sunderland (A)
Stoke (H)
Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Spurs (H)

Vardy (  FPL point every 12.7 minutes 11 goals 1 assists. 10 returns either goal or assist/11 games  91% consistency return rate)

Like Mahrez it’s an incredible run he’s on and like Mahrez has the underlying stats to show that it’s not luck.  Mixed fixtures though

Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Swansea (A)
Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)

Lukaku (  FPL point every 14.4 minutes 6 goals 4 assists. 5 returns either goal or assist/11 games  45% consistency return rate)

The promise shown against the difficult fixtures finally came good in the 1 goal and 2 assist haul in the win over Sunderland.  Ok shooting and creating chances stats and great fixtures

West Ham (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)
