FANTASYTOTE – GW30 REVIEW AND PREVIEWING GW31

So firstly here’s the link to  my original introduction article so you can find out how to play fantasyTote

If you fancy giving it a go click on the FantasyTote image at the bottom of the article.

In simple terms I will be playing 2 games modes each week. These are:

Dream Team

Select 11 players from any team to form your dream team and compete against other users teams. No budgetary restrictions.

5 A-side

This mode is used for individual fixtures. Select the fixture you want to bet on and create your ultimate 5 A-side team from the two sets of players and compete against other 5 A-side teams within that fixture.

GAMEWEEK 30 REVIEW

Unfortunately Aguero not playing scuppered my chances on dream team and on the 5 aside format.  So no winnings for me this week.  I’m still up though from my original 9 to 1 win in my first week.

FFGeek contributor Rob Reid was successful though winning at odds of 14.6 to 1 on the Dream Team format.  Here was his team points and some observations below:

GW30 was my second attempt at Fantasy Tote. In GW29 I had a shot at the Dream Team and 5-a-side formats, coming up just short in Dream Team and well off the pace in my 5-a-side game. For GW30 I was well off the mark in Dream Team but fared much better in 5-a-side with my first win.

I took a less experimental approach to my GW30 5-a-side. For me, it seems like the fixtures to target here are either one-sided affairs where you think 2 or 3 players can score heavily or dour low-scoring games where defence is going to be on top. Captain pick is also key in this format and I think you have best chance of winning at 5-a-side by going for a differential captain.

There were 2 fixtures that stood out for me in 5-a-side this week – Bournemouth v Spurs on Sunday and Stoke vs City in Monday both had the potential to be 1 sided affairs. With uncertainty around Aguero and Sterling possibly affecting City’s points scoring potential, I decided to go for the former fixture as it also had the better range of differential captain picks.

Son looked a good captain pick to me so I went for him, along with Kane and Lloris. Ake and Stanislas were my Bournemouth picks with only 3 players maximum allowed from each team. Son certainly produced the goods and Stanislas also returned to secure a win at cracking odds of 14.6 to 1.

It seems to me that if your differential captain pick comes in in 5-a-side, you’ve got a great chance of winning arguably only needing one other player to return for you to be in with a chance with a win. This is in contrast to Dream Team where you win if you’re within a certain range of the top score – in this case a safer captain choice looks more prudent.

I’ll be having a go at each next week again – I’ll let you know how I get on!

GAMEWEEK 30 PREVIEW

It’s worth remembering that FantasyTote have added £100 in bonuses to the pools this weekend.

DREAM TEAM

Here’s my Dream Team entry.  Captain is Salah.

With only 4 fixtures it’s an unusual week for the premier league.  3 of the 4 fixtures start on Saturday at 3pm so you can check the lineups on those 3 games before your entry if you wish.  In the main I’ve backed Liverpool, Bournemouth and Stoke.  There is some conflict with Palace and Huddersfield but that conflict of defence and attack is mitigated with Van Aanholt as an attacking force as much as a defensive one.

So  the defence was fairly straightforward with Van Aanholt as an attacking option, Van Dijk as hopefully a nailed clean sheet and Daniels as another attacking option.  I did think about Baines and Coleman but was less comfortable with their clean sheet prospects.  Butland has been getting save points and bonus so he was my GK.

In midfield again I went to spread the risk rather than just home in on a couple of teams.

Salah is the obvious Liverpool choice and my captain.  Both Stanislas and Shaqiri have form and set pieces on their side.  Zaha is a bit of a risk pick coming back from injury but on his day can be very effective especially if he continues his early season position of striker.

Up front Firmino is a no brainer.  Mounie has come into the Huddersfield team effectively with 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 and should lead the line here.  With Bournemouth and Liverpool the most likely teams to score the most goals Wilson joins Stanislas to give both teams double ups in attack

5 ASIDE

3 matches to choose from this week.

Bournemouth v WBA

Stoke v Everton

 Liverpool v Watford

 I’ve chosen Bournemouth v WBA.

I’ve followed the Bournemouth picks in my Dream Team selection.  For WBA I’ve gone for Foster in goal for hopefully save points if nothing else and Chris Brunt for WBA’s set pieces

Here’s the 5 aside team.  The captain is Stanislas
