FanTeam World Cup Fantasy Guide 2026 – A team, rules and odds tables
I’ve decided to give fanteam a go for their World Cup Game. It’s not a free to play game although you can play for £1. It’s a game for the full length of the World Cup
Just to say I’m in the UK but I’m not sure where the Fanteam site is available in the world due to gambling restrictions as it’s a pay to play site.
I’ve entered my tea into the £1 game and the £10 game. Most people seem to jam in 5 which is the maximum but I’m not motivated enough for that.
Rules
I haven’t played this for a while and I can’t promise success but I thought I’d give it a go.
I’ve copied and paste the rules below as well as the scoring system.
Here’s the brief basics though. The scoring system and is similar in some ways to FPL rather than the FIFA WC game. the changes are between Rounds. There’s no changes between games and between your bench and starters like the FIFA World Cup game. We have loads of content on that btw
There are no Chips/Boosters apart from 1 wildcard.
You get transfers between rounds which increase as the game goes on.
There’s no create a league option

I’ve tried to concentrate on the teams with good fixtures in the first 3 rounds and on those I think will go far in the competition given that there’s only 1 Wildcard

Structure
So firstly I’ve gone for the cheapest possible bench and invested in a starting 11 without any rotation options. Amazingly I have £1.0m in the Bank but I’m sure I’ll be able to use it. Yamal being a target at some stage
I’ve also put Haaland in for his first game with the pre plan to flip him to Mbappe in Rd 2 when their fixtures respectively change.
My risk starting risk player is Olmo. With Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia up first I want 2 attacking players from Spain. Williams and Yamal are injury doubts. Yamal uncertain for both of the first 2. Ferran is a forward at £9.0m. Unfortunately Baena played the last friendly with Olmo benched so there’s even more confusion. I’m going to gamble on Olmo though and assume he just needed some rest!

The team discussed
GK and Defence
The GK was between Maignan of France and Martinez of Argentina. The overall CS odds are very similar but Martinez is £0.5m but I’ve gone for Maignan in the end. Martinez broke his finger so hasn’t played in friendlies but by all accounts will start.
I’ve gone for the best attacking defenders in each of the teams with the best odds. Portugal are lower but only because of their RD 3 fixture so I’ll ride the first 2
Midfield
Only the Olmo controversy there which I discussed above
Forwards
As I said above I’ll flip Haaland to Mbappe in Round 2. Oyarzabal is the only secure attacking player for Spain in Round 1
I don’t think there will be any changes but if so I’ll put the final lineup in the comments below before the deadline and in the slack channel linked above
Wildcard
I haven’t got a time in mind when I’m definitely going to use it. I’ll know when the time comes if I’m short of starters or I have insufficient players with good fixtures coming up.
I can’t imagine it will be in the first 3 rounds though
