So a move up the ranks but the change of captain from Vinny Jr to Gakpo was an absolute disaster which could have totally transformed my fortunes.
More painful given that virtually everyone performed except for Gakpo, Cancelo who was subbed early again and Kimmich

Round of 32 preview
The 3 players considered for transfer were Fernandes, De Bruyne and Cancelo with Argentina playing Cape Verde the obvious target.
Much as I would have liked to have got rid of Cancelo it made more sense to take out Fernandes and De Bruyne both who had tough matches next against Croatia and Senegal.
That gave me the chance to bring in Messi and Enzo Fernandez into the team.
I’ve gone captain Messi and Vice Mbappe.
The only lineup choice was Cancelo or Midfielder Fidalgo of Mexico. Since Mexico are playing Ecuador I thought the upside was fairly limited
I did consider the Wildcard but the team looks ok especially now that I have 2 France, 2 Argentina, 2 Spain in the team. No England is the downside to not using the wildcard
So the transfers are
Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bruyne OUT for Messi and Enzo Fernandez IN
