Here is the GW17 ChampManFPL update on how FFG contributors Alex Ball and Joseph Crilley are doing in the new Championship Manager FPL game. Alex is currently riding high in 8th place of the overall rankings as part of a team with VionylRichie while Joseph is currently 1st in the late joiner’s league (for those managers that started in GW5).

What’s coming up this week

Wednesday evening marks GW17 of this season which sees a double gameweek for Man Utd and Middlesbrough who line up in 1st and 2nd respectively at the start of the week. The Red Devils then face a home fixture against bottom of the league West Ham on Saturday as part of GW18, so owning three of their players looks key for this week. Their double includes a trip to Boro along with a home tie against out-of-form Leicester so we can expect to see plenty of triple captains wielded this week. Elsewhere, Spurs and Fulham both have two promising home fixtures while plenty of managers will be looking to clear out their Liverpool assets following a somewhat indifferent performance in their DGW16.

Here’s the points from last week

A pleasing week scoring 108 and a jump up to 8th in the world using bench boost. Two game weeks ago we had set up for this period with a massive -12 (thankfully paid off as it was the big DGW), providing us with a strong squad this week.

The bench boost was really helped by the Ipswich clean sheet as we had three defenders! Our Fulham and Liverpool DGW players chipped in nicely.

The planning we did previously done has meant with our one free transfer of Henchoz back to Blanc we will have six players for the Boro and Man U DGW this week. We will be playing triple captain on RVN. This is a tough call but with our rank we have decided to play defensively with the fixtures we have in front of us.

Good luck this week!

Joseph Crilley – Overall rank: 198 Late Joiner’s league rank: 1

I managed to come out rather well from last week as I was able to score 192 points during the two double gameweeks. GW16 was particularly successful as I brought in and captained Boa Morte plus I owned the likes of Stolcers, Rebrov and Bokisc. These points came while avoiding Liverpool players which means I should be in a position to attack the next few fixtures rather than focusing on players to shift out.

For obvious reasons, I am looking to add a third Man Utd player to my team and it looks tricky for me to bring in an attacker, so I am settling for Blanc as part of a double-up on their defence. My team should then be good to save the transfer in GW18 which means the last decision is whether to use the triple captain chip on Van Nistelrooy in DGW17 or save it for another day. I am leaning towards using it, as I’ve shown in the graphic below, as a home tie against Leicester is currently a dream fixture while there is always a chance that he gets something against Middlesbrough, but that decision will be finalised on Wednesday!

Here are my plans for the next two gameweeks as shown in my Transfer Planner:
