Methodology

So I’m now fully using 19/20 data

The idea is to have 2 fixture ease schedules as teams don’t have the same quality of defence as they do attack. Take Arsenal for instance. One will rank the teams by the ease of the opposition defences they face over the upcoming games. That will be called the attackers fixture ease schedule. The 2nd will rank the teams by the ease of the attacking teams they face. This will be called the defenders fixture ease schedule.

6 games home and away isn’t enough to get a representation of what a team is like home or away as it will be heavily fixture dependent so I’ve taken the overall picture of an average of actual goals and expected goals from 13 games and made a general adjustment for home and away. This will be less volatile than basing a defence or attack on 6 games home or away.

I have a fixture graphic below which I’ve colour coded for difficulty. It is just to improve the visual aspect of the schedule and the factors I’ve talked about above, rather than the just the colours, are basis for calculation.

Player values are Monday 25 November

£5.0m Def Tarkowski– 18/19 PPM – 2.8 PPM 19/20 – 4.3

There’s also Taylor (£4.2m and Bardsley £4.3m).  They have started the last 2 replacing Lowton and

Pieters after 2 disastrous defensive performances.  They obviously come with more gametime risk.
