FPL best fixtures GW5 – a fixture ease schedule for attacking players and defensive players

Methodology

While we are in the early part of the season there’s alot of reliance on the 18/19 fixtures although I have made adjustments for pre-season transfers and early season form

The idea is to have 2 fixture ease schedules. One will rank the teams by the ease of the opposition defences they face over the upcoming games. That will be called the attackers fixture ease schedule.

The 2nd will rank the teams by the ease of the attacking teams they face. This will be called the defenders fixture ease schedule.

I have done this by looking at the goals scored last season to rank attacking teams and goals conceded last season to rank defensive teams on a home and away basis. I’ve then applied a factor against the average goals home and away. I have adjusted some of the factors if a team over or under performed their expected goals by a considerable margin but that was only in a low number of cases. For the promoted teams I have tried to find a proxy team from 18/19 teams and used their data although there are some adjustments as we get a look at them. I’ve also made subjective adjustments for transfer activity. I will keep using last seasons data adjusted until I feel there is enough to move onto this seasons.

I have a fixture graphic below which I’ve colour coded for difficulty. It is just to improve the visual aspect of the schedule and the factors I’ve talked about above, rather than the just the colours, are basis for calculation.

Attacking player suggestions

Here I’ve picked out the teams with the best fixtures with an emphasis on the next and early fixtures.  Remember you’ll probably use £4.5m defs and maybe even £5.0m defs in a rotation so overall PPMs can be a bit misleading.

Player suggestions

Again I’ve tried to emphasise players with strong initial fixtures so I’ve gone for Burnley, Arsenal and Spurs

Firstly a word about Man City and Laporte

If you’re holding Laporte and want to make a transfer like for like then Otamendi probably seems the safest at the moment.  Stones if fit should come into the side but then you’re probably relying on getting some useful information from Pep which is probably unlikely.  Walker has Cancelo as competition although Walker could even play CB if required.  Zinchenko has Mendy coming back at some stage but Pep has said he needs to do a decent stint of training before he can play.  Norwich is a reasonably tricky entry point as well for a transfer.

Burnley

£4.6m GK Pope – 18/19 PPM – 3.1. PPM 19/20 – 3.8

£5.0m Def Tarkowski – 18/19 PPM – 2.8 PPM 19/20 – 2.2

£4.6m Def Pieters – 18/19 PPM – n/a PPM 19/20 – 4.5

Arsenal

£5.0m GK Leno – 18/19 PPM – 3.1. PPM 19/20 – 3.3

£5.0m Def Sokratis – 18/19 PPM – 2.8 PPM 19/20 – 2.6

Spurs

£5.5m GK Lloris – 18/19 PPM – 4.4. PPM 19/20 – 2.8

£5.5m Def Alderweireld – 18/19 PPM – 3.1 PPM 19/20 – 1.5

£5.5m Def Rose – 18/19 PPM – 4.0 PPM 19/20 – 1.0
