FPL Draft Teams

The Problem with the Euros

A lot of changes in my 2nd draft FPL team which I’ve summarised below and I am sure more will follow before GW1 kick off! But I had to make some changes after the Euros. The Copa America and the Olympics could also be an issue for players who played in the very later stages

Players who reached the final are likely to get a 3 week break so are back with their teams just 12 days before GW1. I doubt they will be able to get match fit and in the team for 90 minute games in the first 2 gameweeks at least! Geek has done an article on players that could be doubtful from the semis onwards. Here’s the link

Since there are a lot of players who could be of interest in this group I will probably have to set up a team just for the first 3 -4 gameweeks and then Wildcard in gameweeks 4-5 to get the likes of Shaw, Kane, Grealish, Saka etc in.

Teams of interest

Brighton

Brighton have great fixtures going on until October. So £4.5m GK Sanchez is definitely in along with an attacking asset. I am currently on £6.5m Trossard. Most managers seemed to have opted for a Leeds player but if I am committed in Wildcarding early I can get them later

Liverpool

They have great fixtures and rested players so I will be tripling up with £7.5m Alexander Arnold, £12.5m Salah and £7.5m Jota

Manchester United

£12.0m Bruno Fernandes is straight in and I’ll need a defender at some stage but that can wait. If United start the first gameweeks without Maguire and Shaw in the back line I think they concede. If Varane signs that will make them an even stronger defensive prospect when everyone is fit.

Everton

£5.5m Digne is in for now as their best attacking asset. However if Dumfries signs he could be even more tempting. I would have liked an attacking player but Calvert Lewin and Richarlison need monitoring due to the break they are having now. Both National teams reached the finals of their respective competitions.

West Ham

£7.5m Antonio and £5.0m Coufal are straight in. I am monitoring Benrahma if I see him getting minutes in friendly games. If he is he’s straight in.

Leicester

Nice fixtures and a fully rested squad during the summer. Budget defender £4.5m Fofana and Maddison are of interest and definitely £7.5m Iheanacho. £4.0m Amartey is in to save funds. I don’t expect him to play

Aston Villa

I will have to monitor the Martinez break but for now from Villa £7.5m Watkins is in. I also have my eye on budget mid Traore.

Watford’s GK Foster and Def Hoever are additional £4.0m players to save funds who are unlikely to play. It does mean I have 2 £4.0m Defs on my bench but they are effectively placeholders and I’m hoping at least one £4.0m emerges in pre-season

Things will definitely change especially with players who wont use the 3 week break and head to their teams earlier but for now this is where I stand

Transfer summary from draft 1

Shaw out and Amartey in

Coady out and Hoever in

Raphinha out and Trossard in

Grealish out and Jota in

Calvert Lewin out and Antonio in

Perica out and Iheanacho in
