The Background

So this is what Beilsa said yesterday in his press conference

“Llorente, Koch and Bamford won’t participate. The rest I can’t tell you if they will be available or not.”

So hard to know how long this means Bamford will be out for. It could be just this gameweek. GW7 Leeds have a tasty fixture v Watford and then it’s a 2 week International Break before GW8.

If your bench can take it then holding for the prospect of GW7 v Watford isn’t the worst idea.

Otherwise I’m going to give you a few suggestions for replacements at around or below the same price so I won’t be talking about Ronaldo or Lukaku

Unfortunately the injuries to Calvert-Lewin and Wilson haven’t made the situation easy.

Antonio

I imagine many of you reading this will have him anyway but if you haven’t for me he is unquestionably the best replacement

4 goals and 4 assists this season from 4 games and 3 double figure FPL point hauls backed up by unbelievable underlying stats in volume and quality. These are following up last season’s stats which were similar and pretty close to Aguero type quality.

Leeds is a great entry point and I’ve rated their fixtures 6th best from an attacking point of view over the next 6

Now this is where it gets trickier

After that the options are less straight forward. Some have form but terrible fixtures other have good fixtures but little form

Here’s some thoughts on a few of them

Jimenez – Wolves £7.5m

Jimenez has blanked in his first 5 games. The upcoming fixtures are good though and I’ve ranked them 4th on my fixture ease schedule.

However his underlying stats have been ordinary this season and last season. An xG90 of 0.22 this season is nothing short of pathetic and it follows 0.26 last season. Calvert-Lewins non penalty xG for example is 0.58 as a comparison. There’s no sign at all of the Jimenez 17 goal and 7 assist season of 19/20. To be fair to him he has kept up his volumes of shooting especially but the quality has definitely dipped. Each shot the last 2 seasons has had an average of 8% and 9% chance of scoring compared to 19/20 when it was 14%

The fixtures are good though so if you determined to sell it’s whether they are good enough to overcome the stat deficiencies. As a bonus though he should have pen duties

King (£5.5m) and Dennis (£5.3m) – Watford

2 good fixtures before they get way more mixed and Newcastle is a fantastic entry point.

That’s about it though. Firstly I’d say I’m not sure how the fitness now of Jao Pedro will effect these 2. He did play a decent amount of games last season but it’s a bit of an unknown for me

The issue is that King barely looks like striker and has yet to score in 3 starts plus 1 sub appearance although got 2 assists v Norwich. King doesn’t shoot much and his xG is like a pretty ordinary midfielder. He has got a penalty taking history but whether he can take them off Sarr remains to be seen. Dennis has 2 goals and an assist in 5 games, is new to the league and has now been shunted out to the left where in 2 games before Norwich he was terrible

Again it’s whether the 2 fixtures make up for the pretty ordinary stats. At least they are cheap

FPL Forward Tips GW6

Saint Maximin – Newcastle £6.7m

Looked great v Leeds and has Watford next which also is a good entry point although after that they are a bit mixed.

More of a creative player rather than a striker with poor goal threat underlying stats and in his last 2 seasons hasn’t scored more than 3 goals despite playing 1500 and 1800 minutes.

FPL Forward Tips GW6

Chris Wood – Burnley £6.8m

You know things are imperfect when you’ve rolled out a Burnley striker but to be fair to him he has put up okish shooting stats from a quality and volume perspective even though he adds nothing from an assist perspective. Should also have pens.

Just the 1 goal in 5 games hardly inspires confidence though and Leicester is a poor entry point although Norwich in GW7

FPL Forward Tips GW6

A Armstrong – Southampton £6.0m

1 goal and 1 assist in his first 5 and a reasonable fixture in Wolves next.

Only the 5 games with Southampton to judge him on but likes to shoot alot which is a positive although has a poor xG90 and adds nothing in creativity.

Has a good run of fixtures apart from Chelsea in GW7 and is cheap

FPL Forward Tips GW6

Maupay – Brighton £6.5m

3 goals in 5 games although 1 has been a penalty, duties which I suspect he will lose with the impending return of Gross.

Has okish underlying stats although a notoriously bad finisher. The attraction is Palace next and Norwich in GW8. After that it’s Man City and Liverpool so a short term fixture punt at best

FPL Forward Tips GW6

The Rest

I’ve not considered Toney or the Villa duo of Watkins and Ings due to their fixtures respectively of Liverpool and Man Utd being poor entry points

Good luck with whatever decision you make
