Formation: 5 – 4 -1

1. With only four games this week, all of the players play against each other. There isn’t too much you can do to avoid this so I figure I would try to build a team that has a chance to do well if the games end up being low-scoring or high-scoring.

This is why I went with 6 defensive players that can all get points without needing a clean sheet. However, if their particular game surprises us and ends with a low score clean sheet, it is an added bonus and should actually lead to a green arrow vs others if it does happen.

I felt picking defenders that have 2 avenues for returns and could participate with assists/goals was more fun than just hoping for a triple Brighton clean sheet.

2. After that I picked the 5 best attackers. There are only three premiums in outfield and only one is a forward in Kane. This allowed me to lean towards picking 4 midfielders and 1 forward, again for the potential hedge against a suprise clean sheet with a clean sheet point. It is minimal but the non-premium forwards and midfielders are all in the same tier.

Team Selection

Keeper:

Emi Martinez

This is one of the two toughest decisions I had to make. Ultimately, I am picking a keeper against my captain. However, he is fairly highly owned, as are the Villa defenders. He could end up with 6 saves vs Spurs or could even suprise with an unlikely clean sheet. That would ruin the entire Free Hit if I didn’t play him just to gamble on 2-4 more points elsewhere. It doesn’t seem worth it.

I could double up on the Brighton Clean Sheet instead but Sanchez only has 4 save points all season. So if they concede it will be 2 points max I think.

My dark horse pick, which is on my mind, is Dubravka. He has save points in every game this year he has played (4 in 3 games) and I think Newcastle will tighten up to not lose to Brighton.

Defenders:

Aaron Cresswell

Has the most points in the game for defenders and a whole heck of a lot of assists. West Ham could pull an unlikely clean but he very well could be involved with the West Ham attack.

Kieren Tierney

Just last week vs a tough opponent in Tottenham he got a 6 pointer without a clean sheet. These are the types of avenues to points I want in the team.

Stuart Dallas

I have been pretty vocal about Leeds being terrible defensively all season. Yet there they are with 9 clean sheets. One more than Brighton :). Dallas is VERY attacking and should be OOP in midfield again this weekend.

Sergio Reguilón

What a treat to be able to type his name rather than butcher it verbally. From now on I am going to call him Reggie. Reggie is always in the attack and should start. The Villa attack has looked awful lately so if Jack is out they have a good shot at a clean.

Lewis Dunk

What can I say. Peer pressure. I am not as excited about this pick as everyone else but I think I need one Brighton defender. I will still be cheering a Newcastle goal just for pride. His 4 goals in 2200 minuted gives him the second avenue for points that I need…barely. (Geek note:  Only Dallas has more goals as a defender and really he’s a Mid.  Only Konsa and Justin as defenders have more points for less cost :) )

Midfield:

Gareth Bale

Spurs are very volatile regarding form and attacking output right now. Last week they looked out of sorts vs Arsenal but the week before Bale looked like a god. He is one of the 3 premiums that will be captained by some so you should have him. I think he is hit worthy.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang VICE CAPTAIN

Another premium that needs owning even for a hit. I am not worried about his spat with the coaching staff. It could even motivate him.

Raphael Dias Belloli (otherwise known as Raphinha)

Raphael was everyone’s least favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle but Raphinha is fast becoming everyone’s favourite Leeds player to own. Could easily return in this game.

Jack Grealish

He may play, he may not. The benefit of this weak, 4 match game week is that we have loads of extra cash left over so our benches are very strong. I think playing Jack and having a strong bench is a differential advantage that free hit teams will have.

Forward:

Harry Kane CAPTAIN

No explanation. His EO will be close to 200.

Bench:

Sanchez, Bamford, Lingard, Antonio

This was the 2nd of the two difficult decisions to make. If everyone didn’t own a Brighton defender, I would have Bamford or Lingard in over Dunk. However these 3 bench players all need to get an attacking return against decent defenses to get points for me. It is tough. They are better fantasy assets overall than Dunk but this week I think the dual avenue to points is more important.

Good Luck!
