Well that game threw the cat among the pigeons.

From a lineup perspective £7.5m mid Martial as a CF was a surprise.  What’s more Martial was excellent.  £6.0m mid Dan James was also excellent on the left further throwing confusion into the possible lineup.

£8.5m Pogba again played in the double pivot lessening his appeal.

For Spurs from an attacking perspective £9.5m mid Son was the star.  Shame about the price and the 2 match suspension.  With £5.0m Aurier still injured and AFCONed and £5.0m Foyth suspended for 2 matches we’re no closer to finding the magical £5.0m entry into the Spurs defence.

£4.5m fwd Greenwood started in the problematic RW position for Man Utd. It’s not inconceivable that we could have a front 4 of £7.5m fwd Rashford, James, Martial and Greenwood.  OGS continues to play 4-2-3-1 which is promising.

£8.5m Alli continues to play further forward and has potential in this position but the Spurs star was undoubtedly Son.

Wolves 2 Crusaders 0

This was actually a Europa League qualifier not a friendly

Goals: Jota and Vinagre

Wolves: Patricio, Traore, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Jonny (Vinagre 64), Dendoncker, Neves (Jimenez 58), Moutinho, Gibbs-White (Saiss 84), Jota.

Unused subs: Ruddy, Kilman, Sanderson, Perry.

No surprises in the lineup.  As expected Gibbs White steps in for the CONCAFed £7.5m fwd Jimenez who came on after 58 minutes which is good news.  Traore played at RWB for the injured £6.0m Doherty who was on the subs bench which is also a positive on him being fit for GW1.  £4.5m bargain Dendoncker started which was helpful.  A great finish from £6.5m fwd Jota but the game itself was attack vs defence.

I suspect the imminent signing of Jesus Vallejo will be the end of Bennett but as he’s the same price at £5.0m Coady and Boly then it’s no loss.
