FPL Gameweek 1 Team Reveals 4 Expert Drafts

So in case you’re wondering what all the Coventry players are doing on my bench I am planning on Bench Boosting in Gameweek 2 when Coventry are at home to Hull. Hull somehow got promoted despite having some of the worst underlying numbers in the league and there seems a decent chance of a win to nil for Rudoni returns and a clean sheet for the 2 defenders. Petrovic is also home to Everton which is also a reasonable clean sheet prospect

For someone who’s team is fairly template I only have 8 of the Template in FFGeek’s recent article. The picks I need to monitor are O’Reilly for fitness after the World Cup and Calafiori for his starting place and to less an extent Odegaard and Foden. All of those players have the Community Shield a week before the season starts and that will be very instructive.

I have the 2 core captain options that everyone has in Bruno Fernandes and Haaland. Both playing for Manchester Clubs that has the advantage of rotating home and away perfectly. Both have consistency of returns, including penalties far outweighing everyone else.

My front 3 is very template and to deliver the Bench Boost GW2 I have 2 £4.5m Keepers in Kinsky and Petrovic. Unfortunately they rotate less well.

My plan is to Wildcard GW4 where Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and others go on a positive fixture swing. That will also enable me to fix the keeper situation and ditch the over representation of Coventry players in my team. It may also trigger the Bruno Fernandes to Palmer transfer with Chelsea home to Hull GW4 but that will massively depend on form up to that point

Good luck everyone and happy tinkering

Introduction

Good morning everyone! FPL is back and I hope you’ve all enjoyed the break over the summer, whether that was watching the World Cup or having a break from football altogether. I made a last minute decision to play the FIFA World Cup fantasy game, which took a little getting used with all the different rules, however I really enjoyed it. It did become quite time consuming though being able to sub players in and change captains in-between matches, something which I’m pleased hasn’t been brought into the FPL game.

We’ve still got 3 weeks until the new season gets underway, so a lot will still change, but I thought I’d share my latest draft and current thinking.

Once again, FPL towers have given us 2 sets of chips to use for each half of the season. Whilst I don’t mind this, thinking back to last season the Bench Boost chip proved to be quite an annoying one for myself in the first half of the season. I always had it in the back of mind that I’d need to play it at some point and that I’d have to ensure that I had a decent 15 playing players when I actually decided to use it. This meant using precious transfers in a way which focused on setting my squad up before playing it, so for that reason I said that I’d like to get that particular chip played and out of the way very early. This will then mean I can pretty much focus on my starting 11, build up a bank of transfers, and not have to worry as much about carrying injured players through a couple of gameweeks.

With that said, I’ve mainly been looking at drafts that set up for either a gameweek 1 or 2 Bench Boost. I’ve looked at both scenarios and currently prefer Bench Boost gameweek 1. I feel like if I set up for a gameweek 2 Bench Boost, this is more likely to lead me to a very early wildcard, something which may not be a bad thing, however I’d prefer to hold that chip until a little later if possible. Wildcarding roughly between gameweeks 6 to 9 has seemed to serve me well in the past and I’ll loosely be looking to do the same for the 26/27 season.

So onto my squad.
