Possible transfer targets for GW20
Here I’m trying to find transfer targets by finding a balance between a good next fixture, fixtures generally, defensive form in 20/21
Man City
The best defence with the best possible entry point vs WBA and that’s shown by the clean sheet odds. Dias at £5.8m is the safest gametime prospect but £5.1m has started the last 6. Cancelo has the best underlying attacking stats but has failed to turn these into attacking points and is prone to the odd rotation
Chelsea
1 clean sheet against Fulham in the last 5 isn’t exactly a recipe for FPL managers to have faith in their defence. Especially as the safest gametime choice is expensive at £6.1m Chilwell. Who has dropped in the attacking defender player rankings to 19th. He has good volumes for key passes which is positive but poor quality. £5.1m Reece James is definitely the attacking defender to have but like the rest of the back 4 he’s prone to rotation. £4.5m Rudiger has played the last 2 in front of Zouma and good be a great pick. A Wolves team without Jimenez is a good entry point but the odds of £2.15 from the bookies really is a vote of no confidence in the defence.
Man Utd
A great entry point for a transfer at home to Sheffield United and a good run of fixtures for Man Utd. The emergence of Luke Shaw at £4.8m with some really good volume stats gives a rice to match the risk of a pretty under performing defence. £5.4m Wan Bissaka and Maguire offer more gametime security at a higher price. If you’re going to gamble though GW20 is the time to do it
A fixture ease schedule for defensive players
Here’s a graphic where the teams are ranked by the ease of the attacking teams they face over the next 6 gameweeks. See more in my fixture ease schedule article
The clean sheet schedule
My schedule tries to focus on the stats that will lead to clean sheets rather than clean sheets themselves but I thought it would be worth while getting the clean sheet schedule from the premier league site
Goalkeeper save %
Here’s another schedule which shows you a goalkeeper save %. It’s not a ranking in itself as you can see there is aome correlation between % and clean sheets but does give you some idea of GKs who are good shot stoppers. It’s from the free stats site fbref.com
