GW11 review
I am delighted with a significant green arrow taking me from 160k to 46k. In past seasons it would have probably been down to a decent spread of points across the board but, this being the 25/26 season, it was anything but.
The stars this week were the 1.2% owned Everton defender Michael Keane and Brentford’s Igor Thiago. Keane got a goal, defensive contribution points, 3 bonus points and Everton kept a clean sheet for a 15 point haul.
Outside of Erling Haaland my two biggest points hauls this season have come from a £4m and a £4.5m defender. Thiago got two late goals for a 13 point return. I played the bench boost this week which is one of the reason I went for Thiago instead of making a ‘dead spot’ of the eighth attacker. The bench boost returned a decent 18 points of which 13 were down to Thiago.
If I had sold Gyokeres down to a Marc Guiu for example I would have had Bukayo Saka so I would have got his 12 points instead. Outside of Keane and Thiago it was pretty grim reading with Bruno Fernandes with a late late assist and, it goes without saying, an Erling Haaland goal the only other returns.
It is unusual to be looking at my team and seeing a 1 pointer against Raya and Gabriel’s name. They had to concede at some point and they will do again. I am happy with double Arsenal defence but the temptation to triple up in defence has, thankfully, evaporated.
GW12
I have 3 FT’s and £1.9m in the bank. The big decision for GW12 is whether I want to bring in Bukayo Saka. If I do then the two routes would be to dead spot either a forward or a midfielder. If it was a forward then it would have to be Thiago. It seems crazy to even be thinking about this after his brace at the weekend, however, three of Brentford’s next four fixtures are away at Brighton, Arsenal and Spurs. They are at home to Burnley in GW13 but that is a possible week for playing the FH.
If it was midfielder then, most likely, I would change Ndiaye and Enzo for Saka and a £5m or less spot. I am currently £0.1m short of Ndiaye and Enzo to Saka and Xhaka which looks pretty good. I am not completely ruling out selling Semenyo to get to Saka but the Bournemouth fixtures look good enough to want to hold him for now. If I do move for Saka then I think it is likely I would keep Thiago and use MF spots to free up the funds.
If I don’t buy Saka this week then I might look towards Liverpool assets for their upcoming fixtures and the two players I would most likely be looking at are Dominic Szboszlai and Virgil. Szboszlai has played 90 minutes every match which is why I favour him over Cody Gakpo who was benched at the weekend. However, Szboszlai is on 4 yellows but having 8 attackers and a decent back up defender means this shouldn’t be too much of an issue if he misses a match. Liverpool’s form has not been good, however, they are a class side with a good run of fixtures.
The other possibility is Bryan Mbeumo who seems to be on a hot streak. My reservations with him are the fact that I’d be doubling up on Man Utd attack taking up a significant portion of my teams value and that he goes off to AFCON fairly soon. However, I have the exact money to do Enzo and Ndiaye for Mbeumo and Szbloszlai and this sounds tempting. GW12 and 14 would look strong and I could FH in GW13.
I would probably keep the front 3 of Haaland, Mateta and Thiago on a FH so is it worth it? In seasons past probably not but it does need to be used by GW19 and I’m not sure there are going to many better opportunities. If I made the move for Mbeumo and Szloszlai I would have 3 FT’s to use by GW15 meaning I could switch into Saka before their game against Wolves in GW16.
I don’t know which way I am going to go at the moment. There is plenty of time to make a decision. If I had to make a decision today it would be 70/30 in holding off buying Saka and getting a Liverpool player, or doing the double switch to Szobozlai and Mbeumo. However, there is a voice in my head telling me I need Saka and that voice may win out in the end. I do think there is a good chance that Mbeumo outscores Saka over the next 4 games though.
I will be in Australia until just before Christmas watching a completely different sport and deadlines are going to be tricky so hoping that doesn’t cause too many problems.
Captain is Haaland again inevitably and vice currently on JP Mateta.
Enjoy the break everyone and good luck for the next game week.
Transfer summary: Possibly Enzo and Ndiaye OUT for Mbeumo and Szbloszlai IN but subject to the above

It was a pretty disappointing week where I was rescued with my transfer in of Thiago for the injured Gyokeres. I had been tempted by Bowen but was put off by the fixtures after Burnley so felt Thiago was a better long-term option.
A Munoz clean sheet and Haaland goal were my only other returns. I had 2 penalty misses and a sea of other blanks.
Pedro, Saka and Mbeumo returns were the main hits to my rank but other than that is was a low scoring week on average so I managed to scrape a green arrow (which isn’t great at my rank but better than a red).

Gameweek 11 Review:
An eventful but challenging FPL weekend, with an average score of only 37 points !! Champions Liverpool were well beaten at the Etihad, Arsenal conceded a goal for the first time since September, Haaland and Semenyo both missed from the spot, the curse of the most bought player meant a blank for Mateta, with Gusto and Keane the unlikely gameweek top scorers !!
Arsenal finally conceded and did so twice as a 94th minute Sunderland equaliser denied them in a 2-2 draw after Saka and Trossard looked to have given the Gunners a come from behind win. Man City are just four points behind after defeating Liverpool 3-0 with mixed fortunes for the 5.7M Haaland captainers as he missed a penalty but did open the scoring soon afterwards. And a first Chelsea goal for Gusto as they beat managerless Wolves 3-0, with Jao Pedro again on target.
Man Utd were grateful for a 96th minute De Ligt leveller in a 2-2 draw at Tottenham, after an Mbeumo goal had been overturned by two late Spurs goals. Aston Villa had an emphatic 4-0 win over Bournemouth with Martinez saving a Semenyo penalty. And Dan Burn was sent off as a Thiago brace saw Brentford beat Newcastle 3-1.
Elsewhere, West Ham won 3-2 against Burnley. Everton beat Fulham 2-0. A first Forest win for Sean Dyche as they beat Leeds 3-1. And there were 17 shots at Selhurst Park but it finished 0-0 between Palace and Brighton.
My GW11 score and rank:
I had just 4/11 “returners” in a score of 45 points, but in a low scoring week, that was 8 points above the overall average and 1 point above the benchmark elite manager average. So in the context of that, it was a reasonable week, despite a few frustrations.
A Haaland captain goal, a Saka goal, a Woltemade assist, and a clean sheet from Richards was enough for a small green arrow.
Up from 1.3M to 1.2M, so in a week when I said my team didn’t look great on paper, certainly compared to the week before, and there were a few bench boosts flying around, I survived it and made a small gain.
It’s been a strange period, with my rank hovering around the same level with minimal changes either way for the last five gameweeks – 1.3M, 1.2M, 1.1M, 1.3M, 1.3M, 1.2M. There have been a few weeks in there where things didn’t go my way and I’ve still held position. So when I do have a week when the cards fall sunny side up, I know there is the potential to make decent gains.
My GW11 significant moments:
There were a few more than usual who took on Haaland for captaincy, with him facing Liverpool, so his points were slightly more beneficial. A very mixed game for him with a missed penalty followed by a goal for a modest 8 point captain return. The difference between a scored penalty and a missed one for your captain is a 12 point swing, plus this week another likely 6 bonus points. So that 8 pointer could have been 26 had he converted that penalty !!
Semenyo was another to miss a penalty too !! In a four goal loss, it’s unlikely to have affected bonus points but that’s a 7 pointer instead of his zero. So 25 lost points this week from two missed penalties !! What can you do.
Two players get the credit for my green arrow. Saka’s 12 pointer at just 29% EO for me was a big boost. It was actually his first double figure score for a year, and only his 2nd open play goal in 17 games. Worrying stats going forward for his price but I’m glad to own him for now.
And Richards’ clean sheet and 8 pointer at just 5% EO for me was the difference this week. The overall Palace clean sheet is very popular with Richards, Lacroix, Munoz and Guehi. But with the highly owned Guehi being injured, that made the clean sheet much more valuable this week. And my decision to play him over Senesi and Rodon on virtually the same clean sheet odds proved a great one that defined my week.
My other big decision was whether to roll, or sell Woltemade to Jao Pedro, reversing the move I made the week before. The Wolves fixture for Pedro was a tempter but I held firm and only lost that duel 7-5. Crucially I now have two free transfers instead of one, so that was another decision I was pleased with too.
Pope conceded for the 4th successive game and went off early due to concussion but he did outscore Raya 3-1. My double Arsenal clean sheet was busted for the first time in five league games, Caicedo blanked against bottom club Wolves but fortunately so did the popular and more attacking Enzo.
Sarr and Mateta combined to miss numerous chances with Sarr almost assisting Mateta and then vice versa in the first 8 minutes !! Sarr is an enigma, scoring for fun in cup competitions and not in the league !!
So what next ??
We now have our 3rd international break of the season, so time to take stock and have a breather, enjoy the international games, and keep everything crossed that our players avoid injuries in all the international fixtures. Definitely a time to avoid making early transfers when so much can go wrong over a two week period.
For those with “chips” remaining, it’s important to look ahead and plan when you are going to play them, which of course is team dependent. Remember that after GW19, they are gone, with another full set of chips handed out for the second half of the season. Haaland still has home games v Leeds, Sunderland and West Ham if you still have the triple captain left.
We now have the start of an amazing fixture run for Liverpool. The conundrum will be who to pick. Salah is still not justifying his 14M price tag and needs multiple transfers and sacrifices unless you sell Haaland, Gakpo has just been benched twice in a row, Isak is not starting, Ekitike has six successive blanks, Szoboszlai has played 90 minutes in every game but only has one goal and one assist all season, Allison is not back yet. So probably just Van Dijk if you can get there.
Looking at early transfer activity, it’s Mbeumo heading the buys after 4 returns in 5 games and great fixtures ahead. Thiago is popular after his brace but he faces trips to Brighton, Arsenal and Spurs in his next four. Mateta, Rice, Doku and Pedro are also popular.
The injured pair Kudus and Gyokeres are top sells, along with Woltemade, Reijnders and Grealish.
My GW12 plans:
I have TWO free transfers after rolling last week and 0.1M ITB
