Introduction

This article consists of a schedule ranking forwards based on their underlying stats over the first 11 games of the season. xG90 and xA90 are converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played. I have adjusted a couple of average minutes where they are not representative at all of going forward. Stats are from the free site understat

There’s also their FPL points per match as well as their value for money rating. The higher the better. Above 10 is the gold standard

The rankings are purely mathematical and there is no adjustment for fixtures coming up. The attacking players fixture ease schedule is below

Their is a new stat based on the performances in each individual gameweek where they are rated good orbad in relation to their cost. The column “x Consist %” states the % of times in relation to their starts they were rated good in the first 6 gameweeks. Prices are as of 3 November.

The Patreon version has Joe’s Transfer Planner and Points Projection Tool’s top points predictions for forwards in GW12 and over the next 5 gameweeks. The planner runs an FPL team with a current OR of 18k

The ranking schedule

As I said above the rankings are based on their 21/22 xG90 and xA90 converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played.

There is no adjustment to the ranking for fixtures upcoming

Transfer suggestions

Here I’m looking for players close to a VFM of 10 who have been relatively consistent and have good fixtures ahead including a good entry point.

It’s slim pickings with forwards at the moment but here goes.

Wilson

A couple of pretty ordinary performances recently have dropped him in the rankings and maybe his introduction could be deferred until GW14 when Newcastle play Norwich and then Burnley.

However 4 goals in 7 appearances plus pretty consistently producing underlying stats that are appropriate for his price (at least in quality if not volume) make him a reasonable option in a tricky forward market at the moment. Also takes pens

You’re also hoping that while Eddie Howe ignoring the improvement of the defence could be disastrous for Newcastle his attacking philosophy could be very helpful for Wilson

Antonio

Such are the paucity of options in the forward department that it becomes impossible to ignore someone who has scored 6 goals and 4 assists in his 10 starts this season. In doing so he has been one of the more consistent producers of underlying stats even allowing for a recent run of 7 games with just 2 goals.

His ability to create chances for others gives him an edge over a number of other forwards

The problem is the next 4 fixtures are brutal and include Man City and Chelsea so to transfer him in you need to believe in his overall form vs the upcoming fixtures.

Kane

Whatever reason you put forward for the current position, it’s almost impossible to believe that someone who scored 23 goals and 14 assists last season could possibly only have only scored 1 goal and 1 assist in 9 starts and has produced frankly embarrassing underlying stats of volume and quality.

To make this transfer you have to believe in fixtures, that the real 20/21 Kane is still in there somewhere and in Conte’s magic wand

King

3 goals and 3 assists in 8 starts plus 1 as sub returning a goal or assist in 3 of those 8 games and producing consistent underlying stats is no mean feat for the price.

However the fixtures are brutal and he’s really only an option if you want the cheapest forward who looks like he will start regularly so you’re confident you can put him on your FPL bench when it’s appropriate.

Edouard

A complete fixture punt as his performances since that 6 minute 2 goal appearance v Spurs have been pretty poor. It’s been 1 goal in 6 starts and although he blanked in the Wolves game in GW11 it was the first time where saw any underlying stats of quality or volume.

Requires a big leap of faith in the power of fixtures.
