GW24 Review:

This gameweek was much more enjoyable. It started of perfectly in the first few matches; Brighton vs Everton ended 1-1 which is great as a non owner and all of my players delivered – double Arsenal defence, Enzo, Kroupi. Jr and Virgil.

Kroupi. Jr came off the bench for Saka this week, and that made all the difference in terms of getting a green arrow so I am very happy with that, it paid off spending the extra on him over Guiu back in GW11.

I made 3FTs in GW24 which were Keane, Garner and Ekitike to Richards, Enzo and Thiago. I made the decision this week that I wanted Enzo Fernandez, and therefore, I had to sacrifice Ekitike. I was not at all surprised when Ekitike scored 2 goals as he was posting great underlying data. In the end my transfers lost me points this week, but I am hoping over the long-term that they will pay off still.

The captaincy also worked out nicely with Fernandes’ 20 pointer. I was very tempted with Haaland captain due to the news that Spurs had lots of their defence out, but in the end I favoured Fernandes as he is elite in the more advanced role, plus being a midfielder means he has a higher potential.

GW25 Thoughts:

I initially had 1FT with £0.3m in the bank. However, I confirmed 1FT on Tuesday night following the Arsenal vs Chelsea Carabao cup Semi final result:

Saka (£10.0m sell price prior to the price drop) to Rice (£7.5m)

Arsenal (and Wolves) will now double in GW26 so this was a fairly straightforward transfer with Rice also having a good entry this week with Sunderland at home. Also, Rice has lots of routes to points such as DEFCON, set pieces/corners and he chips in with goals/assists too.

Captain: Bruno Fernandes

Thanks for reading and good luck.

GW24 Review

After nasty red arrows in GWs 22&23, it was pleasing to get back on the green arrow trail with a strong gameweek that undid the last fortnight’s damage and then some. My team did well all round. Clean sheets from Arsenal and Sunderland rewarded me for doubling up on each team and Mukeile chipped in with a bonus assist as well. Last weeks new arrivals Bruno and Enzo were both in the points again and a brace from Ekiteke and an assist from Captain Haaland completed the haul – 8 returners in all.

It was a good week to have a good week too with the ranges of scores being quite high. A nice boost to my ranking then, putting me just 6 points off the top 100k. Heading back in the right direction then…which is often when the ground can fall from under your feet of course! Much to ponder then for GW25.

GW24 Review

It was another disappointing week and the 3rd red arrow in a row. This was my own fault though since I sold Ekitike who hauled for Evanilson who blanked.

It would have worked out with the 2nd option I discussed last week, downgrading to Kroupi Junior and upgrading Miley to Semenyo. I’d have got Semenyo’s points and Kroupi Junior’s goal off the bench for Saka (albeit this would have been jammy). I did need to address my defensive issue though and although Munoz blanked I’m hoping over the good fixture run it will be worthwhile.

I did get 10 points from Bruno Fernandes after bringing him in for Foden as well. captain Haaland assist, Enzo goal and double Arsenal clean sheet the other returns.

Gameweek 24 review:

An exciting weekend, with late goals, dramatic comebacks, red cards, Arsenal and Liverpool both scored four, the Carrick bandwagon rolls on, dropped points for Man City, and we had the big head to head captain battle between Haaland and Bruno.

Saka was injured in the warm up and Rice blanked, but Arsenal cruised to a 4-0 win at Leeds, their first win in four games, to go six points clear. Man City looked to be in cruise mode at Spurs after Cherki and Semenyo scored, but a Solanke brace sealed a 2-2 draw. A Schade red card didn’t stop Brentford winning 1-0 at Villa, with a Dango goal settling it.

Two assists for Bruno as Man Utd lost a 2-0 lead v Fulham, before a 94th minute Sesko winner gave them a 3-2 win. West Ham raced into a 2-0 lead at Chelsea but a Pedro goal and a last gasp Enzo winner ensured a 3-2 turnaround. And a Gordon opener for Newcastle was in vain as an Ekitike double gave Liverpool a thumping 4-1 win.

Elsewhere, Kroupi’s great strike was the highlight of a 2-0 Bournemouth win at Wolves. A Gibbs White goal for Forest was wiped out by a Sarr penalty for Palace. A 97th minute Beto goal meant Everton denied Brighton right at the death. The action concluded with Sunderland comfortably beating a poor Burnley team 3-0.

My GW24 score and rank:

I had FIVE returners in a score of 50 points, but that was 5 points below the overall average and 12 points below the benchmark elite manager average, so a disappointing outcome. Five returns might be enough some weeks, but not this week.

The double Arsenal clean sheet landed, I had a last minute goal from Enzo, two assists from Bruno Fernandes and an assist from captain Haaland.

A further drop in rank from 1.9M to 2.1M. This is new territory for me. I can’t remember a season like it. I keep putting out good looking teams on paper but the nightmare continues.

My GW24 significant moments:

My one transfer was Foden to Bruno which worked out well, with Foden playing two minutes off the bench and Bruno grabbing ten points, so an immediate nine point gain.

I lost five points on the big captaincy decision, choosing Haaland over Bruno. It was only a 94th minute assist that tipped it in Bruno’s favour. I fancied Haaland against a struggling Spurs team over Man Utd v Fulham, as well as the security of gaining rank on the points of both players. Haaland’s EO was about 150% so it was a high risk taking him on against poor opponents.

Three clean sheets in the last four now for my double Arsenal defence. Once again, Timber came very close to an attacking return. I seem to be saying that every week. He still has only two assists in sixteen games, despite his considerable attacking threat !!

I bought Enzo last week and he’s recorded back to back eight pointers which is great. Fortunate though with a penalty last week and a last gasp goal this week when he was pretty quiet otherwise. But it’s an eleven point gain in two weeks from the Gravenberch to Enzo transfer.

The sale of Ekitike to Thiago last week meant I lost the Ekitike points this week, but he was my cash cow to bring in both Enzo and Bruno who have scored heavily as my transfers in over the last two weeks.

Saka getting injured in the warm up was hugely disappointing. No goals in TEN league games is not what I want from a 10M player, especially when you consider what I could have done with all that money spread through my squad. It hurts when he was announced in the team, Arsenal won the game 4-0 – and my first auto sub in for him was a zero pointer from Andersen !!

Having a keeper rotation of Kelleher and Dubravka is always going to bring risks of benching the wrong one, particularly as the bigger keeper hauls tend to come in the more difficult fixtures. But I was comfortable with the decision to bench Kelleher away to 3rd place Villa. Brentford even went down to ten men before half time and VAR wiped out a Villa goal too.

Kelleher has haul potential, and is the highest scoring keeper over the last eight gameweeks, which is very encouraging. I bagged a 13 pointer from him in GW21. But benched his 10 pointer this week, with Dubravka scoring one point.

A 9 point swing on my two keepers was brutal. The difference between green and red !!

Thiago was very quiet and Rogers didn’t threaten either in a Villa v Brentford game in which I craved an end to end goal fest. It was anything but that. Wilson looked lively but no thunderbolt from him this week.

If ever you need confirmation that it’s simply “not my season”, then it’s summed up this week by Dalot. He came close to two assists, conceded his clean sheet in the 85th minute – and was then subbed off after 86, so just missed his clean sheet. Unbelievable really. That and the keeper swing show how cruel this game can be.

So what next ??
