FPL managers teams – last seasons 8k overall ranked Yaniv Saloman’s current team

Hi guys, it’s a great pleasure to write here in this amazing site that I admire.

My name is Yaniv, 37 years old , I am a CPA from Israel, married with 2 daughters and our first baby boy is on the way. I am Manchester United fan and last year I finished 8K OR in FPL and hope to stay in that region this year.

This is the first draft for my team and maybe the last one. I avoided players that reached to the WC SF, even if they were not regular starters.  I am planning to use my first WC after GW4 in the international break where I will bring some players that I think are must haves, such has Kane, and maybe Trippier. Trippier for me is the best defender in the game.

Goalkeepers

For GK I always like to go with a premium one so it had to be DDG , Allison or Ederson.   I don’t think DDG is worth the extra £0.5m this season , and you will see later I went for 3 Liverpool outfield players (Less rotation risk than City players) so it is Ederson!

Defenders

I always try to have 3 premium defenders from top 6 sides and favour ones with less rotation risk.   Firstly, I went with Bailly who I think is fairly priced at £5.5m.  In my opinion he is the best defender at United and without his injury last year he would have at least matched Jones’s points.

Robertson is 2nd in PPG last season with 5.0, and with Alisson and VVD in place it only can get better.

Lastly of the premium defenders, I went with Mendy who I think will be very attack minded and will get a lot of assists this season.

Of the cheap defenders, Tomkins is a great value for £4.5m as a starter in the Palace defence.  He has also scored 6 goals in the last 2 seasons. He will start in my FPL team in some of his home games.

Bennett is my £4.0m cheapie.  I’m hoping he will be in the starting lineup for a Wolves team that I have high expectations of.

Midfield

Salah, nothing needed in explanation here, it was Salah + 14 players in £87m for me.

Mane is so dangerous and I think this year he will be one of the top 5 midfielders in the league.  I also believe for the first time he will join the “double double” 10+10 club for goals and assists. He also has a chance for pens as he took 2 in the preseason when Mo was on the field.

I then went for 2 £6.5m players.   We have a lot of good options this year at that price.

Jota for me can be this seasons surprise package with great record from last year of 17 goals and 6 assists.   He play’s in the front 3 for Wolves and is very dangerous.  He’s only 21 years old so should be improving each year and if he gets only ⅔ of last year numbers it will be amazing.

Richarlison was my favourite budget midfielder in the first part of last season, and I think he was unlucky not to have better numbers.  In the FPL total threat stat he was 4th of all mids behind Salah, Sterling and Sanchez.

Stephens is the most secure £4.5m mid , so he will be my bench warmer.

Forwards

Up front I went for 1 premium.   I couldn’t decide between Kun and Auba, but went for Kun because better fixtures and Pep talking about 3-5-2.

Zaha is so dangerous and he gets the second spot.

Finally, after watching Serbia WC games, I think Mitrovic can get very good numbers this season with a nailed spot in Fulham’s first choice CF.   I was thinking he could score 12-14 goals but we will see..😉)..

Formation

So my formation, for now, will usuallybe  3-4-3 or sometimes 4-4-2.  I have 3 players from the promoted clubs but it’s it’s a team for 4 gameweeks and I am willing to gamble on those players. Btw I thought on bringing the wunderkind from Fulham, but in the end I stayed only with Mitrovic for now.

Here’s the team:

That’s it for now , good luck to everyone!!
