FPL players Points Per Match – each teams top Points Per Match player – Part 10

Fantasy Premier League

Here is our FPL players Points Per Match article where we concentrate on each teams top PPM player and give our view on their future prospects.  I also say how the individual player performed in the FFGeek team.  This article focuses on West Ham and Wolves

FPL players Points Per Match – each teams top Points Per Match player – Part 10

I outline my  FPL strategy along with 10 other FFGeek contributors in our new EBook.

Stats are from the free site understat

West Ham – Lukasz Fabianski £4.9m

fpl players points per match

His 17/18 season was with Swansea City.

It wasn’t a great year for the West Ham defence or for the West Ham GK Fabianski.  Only 3 sides have conceded more goals and only Villa have a worse xG conceded.  Although his clean sheet ratio improved and his goals conceded per game improved his save % dramatically dropped and his bonus points fell through the floor.  It all balanced out for only a marginal drop in PPM.

For me though the drop in save % and the abysmal West Ham defence means that he becomes a hard sell at the price of £4.9m.  The 72% save % GK must be there somewhere though?

The FFGeek team use

I had Fabianski in my team in preparation for  West Ham’s double gameweek but he got injured within 14 minutes and then substituted.  No other West Ham player made it into my team which was no surprise considering no player who played more than 500 minutes had a PPM of 4.0 or more.

West Ham were also 15th in xG and 19th in xGA so they are hardly an enticing proposition

Wolves – Raúl Jiménez £8.1m

fpl players points per match

It’s been some season for the Wolves forward.  He has been a model of consistency in actual returns and his underlying stats.  His ability to create chances meant only Roberto Firmino had more assists and only Mousset of Sheffield United has a better xA among forwards who played 1000 minutes or more.

His underlying stats when converted to FPL points made him the 5th highest ranked forward over the season and in the last 10 gameweeks before the PL suspension and the 6th in the previous 5 gameweeks.  These xG/xA stats were backed up by strong volumes of shooting and key passes as well.

For the remainder of the season Wolves also have good fixtures.

The FFGeek team use

I’ve actually had Jimenez in my side for 11 gameweeks at a fairly impressive average of 5.0 PPM.  Just under his average of 5.1 PPM.  He’s currently in my team and someone I expect will continue given that Wolves have an overall good set of fixtures to the end of the season. I also had Boly for a fairly unimpressive PPM of 2.8 compared to his average PPM of 4.6.  I also had Dendoncker for 8 games although he only started 1 game as he was there to warm my FPL bench.

fixture ease schedule for attacking players

It seems that there is a tentative agreement that the fixture list will be in the same order.  It also seems games will be played at neutral venues which would change things but it’s a good enough guide for the moment.  I will therefore have to revise this but for the moment it is a visual guide.

Here’s a graphic where the teams are ranked by the ease of the defences for the remaining outstanding fixtures to the end of the season. Ignore GW36-38 and just look at them as a block for the end of the season which could quite frankly end up in any order.
