Crawley 0 Brighton 1
Goal: Richards
Brighton and Hove Albion: Walton (Sanchez, 45), Sanders, Baluta, Clarke, Cox (Davies, 60), Mlaker (Longman, 81), Ahannach (Gwarhgis, 60), Roberts (Kazukolovas, 72), Gyokeres (Cochrane, 60), Hemed Richards, 45), Connolly (Spong, 45).
Nothing to report here as a side that couldn’t even be described as a reserve Brighton side beat Crawley
Kawasaki Frontale 1 Chelsea 0
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Caballero; Azpilicueta (c) (Zappacosta h/t), Zouma (Christensen h/t), David Luiz, Alonso (Emerson h/t); Kovacic (Drinkwater 57), Jorginho (Bakayoko 57); Pedro (Barkley h/t), Mount (Pulisic 65), Kenedy (Palmer 71); Batshuayi (Giroud h/t).
Unused subs Cumming, Tomori.
Lineup wise it was a pretty strong 11. Alonso starting instead of Emerson is worth monitoring. Zouma who’s not in FPL started ahead of £5.0m def Christensen was disappointing started. Mount (not in FPL) and Barkley (£6.0m) played as number 10’s in a 4-2-3-1 which was interesting with Pulisic (£7.5m) as a sub on the left. No Abraham as Batshuayi (also not in FPL) started. Willian is on a break after Copa America.
Barkley and Mount were praised and represent bargains if they are number 10’s. Pulisic though is one of our main focuses and was lively in his cameo. Whoever starts as CF dependent depending on price. Batshuayi was poor by all accounts
Here’s a couple of articles as links from football london and the evening standard
Nottingham Forest 1 C Palace 0
Palace: Hennessey, Van Aanholt, Dann, Kelly, Ward, Meyer, Milivojevic, McArthur, Townsend, Schlupp, Benteke.
Subs not used: Henderson, Woods, Hobbs, Riedewald, Wickham, Sorloth, Daly.
Lineup wise pretty much a first choice team apart from the obvious absentee of Zaha who’s presumably on gardening/AFCON leave
For Palace we’re looking for Zaha’s position and whether £4.5m forward Wickham can get a starting spot. Obviously no Zaha and Benteke starts as the CF. £4.0m Def Kelly starts as CB but his days will be numbered as soon as Sakho or Tomkins are back. It’s just when is the great unknown
Here’s the CPFC match report
Liverpool 2 Dortmund 3
Goals: Wilson 35′ (assist – Fabinho) Brewster pen 75′ (assist – Woodburn)
Liverpool: Mignolet; Clyne (Alexander-Arnold 60′), Matip (Van Dijk 60′), Gomez (Lovren 60′), Larouci (Robertson 60′); Fabinho (Wijnaldum 60′), Oxlade-Chamberlain (Henderson 60′), Milner (Lewis 60′); Wilson (Jones 60′), Kent (Woodburn 60′), Origi (Brewster 60′)
Subs not used: Lonergan, Atherton, Phillips, Hoever
No usual front 3 due to AFCON and Copa America. The lineup was pretty mixed to be honest.
With Liverpool we pretty much know what were going to get so apart from assessing when the front 3 return it’s just a case of working out who will be Van Dijks CB partner which could offer some value at £5.5m. No real clues here, even in the match reports linked below, but we will find that out anyway when Liverpool play Man City in the Community Shield.
Here’s the anfield wrap and this is anfield’s reports
Monaco 0 Everton 1
Everton: Stekelenburg, Keane, Gibson, Broadhead (Walcott 46), Sigurdsson (McCarthy 78), Digne, Schneiderlin (Davies 46), Niasse, Bernard (Mirallas 78), Gomes (Adeniran 83), Coleman. (Subs not used: Pickford, Holgate, Baines, Pennington, Delph, Hornby, Connolly, Williams, Davies, Baningime, Lookman, Astley)
A mixture of first team players and others here. However we probably have a decent guess at the Everton lineup anyway
Here were probably interested in the form of £8.0m Siggy and when £8.0m Richarlison returns from Copa America duty as well as whether cheapie £5.5m fwd Calvert Lewin is still number 1. No Gueye who looks PSG bound and no Zouma who seems like he will stay at Chelsea seriously downgrades the defence
Here’s the Everton website report and a toffeeweb report
Norwich 2 Schalke 1
– Goals: Pukki (13), Leitner (60)
Norwich City: Krul (McGovern 45), Aarons, Godfrey, Hanley, Lewis (Heise 82), Trbyull, Leitner, Roberts (Byram 75), Stiepermann (Hernandez 75), Cantwell (Idah 85), Pukki (Srbeny 75). Subs (all used).
A pretty full lineup for Norwich with only £6.0m mid Buendia missing as nursing something or other. For what it’s worth £5.5m Roberts started before his same priced midfielder Hernandez. £5.5m Stiepermann started.
No one particularly of interested here except £4.0m def Hanley who did start in Zimmermans injury absence.
Here’s a link to a decent write up if your interested as well a s a youtube link to highlights
