Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends. However the FFGeek team, the Transfer Planner Team and the Contributor tracker team Plus the Contributor teams of Rob, Rick, Andrew, Kris, Kev and Joe mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make notified transfers live as they are completed. So you’re always up to date and live for a maximum £3 PCM.

Note I am changing from FPL average to the post hits 15 top Managers average  who have finished in the top 10K the last 3 seasons that I follow

Alon Shamir

GW1 Review

The first GW of the season went ok I guess. Could have been better but 68 points is still 12 above the average and a point above the legendary managers (as per livefpl).

I’m a bit disappointed since my last minute change of James, Diaz, and Walker to Robertson, Mount, and Digne resulted in a 10 points loss. With the James to Robertson change I’m happy long term, But Mount is another story and I will elaborate in the preview section.

I’m very pleased I went with Martinelli who looks like he is going to be a super enabler this season. Jesus didn’t deliver FPL points but he looked good imo and I’m sure he’ll be very good value too.

GW2 Preview

I hoped to roll the transfer this week in order to have flexibility to make a double or even triple transfer (aka Mini-WC) in GW3, when I have more info. I actually still hope to do so but I can’t ignore Mount’s terrible performance as well. He was so unnoticeable. Only 2 shots of which none was in the box nor on target, for a total Xg of 0.09. I don’t care too much about short term Xg, let alone in a single match, but the way he participated in the way his teammates positioned themselves and played provided me with more concerns than hope. So as things stand I can see myself letting him go rather sooner than later.

Now the question is who can be an appropriate replacement. The first name who comes to mind is Kulusevski. He was electric on the weekend and may represent good value for his price tag, although 8m is a very difficult price point to justify as it requires about 5.5 points per game (feel free to reach out on Twitter if you’re interested in how I came up with this number). It is not an easy task to reach such numbers. Additionally Kulu plays Chelsea so I don’t see much sense in bringing him this GW.

The more exciting options this week are City Mids, who I originally thought of as possible Mount replacement for this week, which could become a goal fest. But I am not confident enough in any of them starting.

Since I don’t intend to fill the 3rd City spot with a mid, the alternative is Walker for a double City defence. I actually regret changing him to Digne in the last moment, but not sure how wise it is to lose Digne just before Everton at home.

Team Selection

There are rumours about possible Bailey benching along with Coutinho and Ramsey vs Everton this weekend. I’m not sure how trust worthy it is (source is the Birmingham Mail) but if it feels likely to be true, I will give the first team shirt to Pereira over Bailey.

Captaincy

I’m on Haaland atm. Maybe the best striker in the world, leading the City forward line against dreadful Bournemouth at the Etihad. It is not something I’m willing to miss.

For what it’s worth, I think Salah is almost an equally good option this week so if your gut points to him, I’d say go with it.

Transfer Summary

If I don’t roll the transfer it will probably be Walker for Digne.

Kris O

Kris’s last 8 seasons ORs were 17k, 19k, 39k, 44k, 46k, 23k, 12k and 19k

GW1 points: 53 (15 Top managers average 70) Total points: 53, Overall Rank: 4,991k, arrow: n/a   Team Value: £100.0m

Listen to Kris and Kev’s FPL Podcast

So a poor GW1, driven by captain Kane blanking and my three Liverpool players blanking – I was a little bit unlucky with Sp*rs scoring four and the chance(s) / post hit by Diaz. The alternative perspective is if I’d followed the crowd and gone with Salah I’d be 20+ points better off! On a positive note my late move bringing James in for Perisic was worth six points; and Josh Dasilva, who came in to fund that move, scored an excellent goal off the bench – he could prove useful, especially if he breaks into Brentford’s starting XI.

You can see the rest of the article on the FFGeek Patreon site wide forward tier for only £3 pcm with loads of other content mentioned above. That includes following Kris’ Team and 5 others with live notified transfers as they happen and the teams final lineup each gameweek.

Sergio Torija

Sergio’s has 4 top 0.5% overall ranks in the last 6 seasons

GW1 points: 52 (15 Top managers average 70) Total points: 52, Overall Rank: 5,184k, arrow: n/a   Team Value: £100.0m

We are underway into the new FPL season and I started with the wrong foot. The decision to start with Kane (and captain) to then move onto Haaland in GW2 massively backfired. This was the determining factor of the week, with average performance from the rest of the team if we compared with engaged managers like the FFGeek contributors.

It’s not a time for panicking though, the team is still well setup and a 20 odd points deficit in week one does not derail a season. So going ahead with the plan, I switched Kane to Haaland on Sunday to avoid price movements. All my players have home fixtures this week, hopefully that helps for a high score.

In principle, will go with Haaland as captain, Salah Vice. Neco Williams as first sub.

Good luck all

Transfer summary: Kane out Haaland in already completed
