FPL team tips GW12 – FFGeek contributors show their GW12 teams part 1
Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.
Rob finished with a rank of 94k last season 22k in 16/17 4k in 15/16 and 7k in 14/15.

Sadly, it was another underwhelming week as my team continues to stutter through the autumn. Things looked pretty desperate on Saturday night, 4 blanks and an overall rank dangerously close to 400k. Only Arnie’s 12 points against Burnley had kept me from Saturday FPL armageddon. Things went a little better on Sunday as captain Aguero finally netted a double figure haul and there were a couple of assists from Hazard and Alonso respectively.
I stupidly watched Huddersfield vs Fulham on Monday night. There’s 96 minutes of my life I won’t get back. It was also 96 minutes of being frustrated with Mitrovic. I’ve not seen a player spend more time offside since Filippo Inzaghi and he capped it all with a silly yellow for dissent late on which was the difference between me treading water this week and a small red arrow.
I’m very sorry that my team write-ups have become a bit dark over the last few weeks. It’s frustrating to see bad 50/50 calls continue to hurt you further down the line. It is only a game though, and (as I commented to FPL Beer Guru and fellow FFG contributor Stephen Toumi on Twitter this week) I fully intend to keep having fun trying to sort this little mess out!
So my mission this week was to get rid of the totally ineffective Mitrovic. I’d persisted with him on the basis of a couple of good fixtures, but his stats are so poor that even if he wasn’t facing Liverpool at Anfield this week he’d be a goner. I’ve got a bit of money spare, but I’d like to keep some aside to buy Richarlison back after the international break (I’m a sucker for some more of his trolling.) So I narrowed my options down to Wilson, Murray, Ings and Jimenez.
I owned Ings earlier in the season and I really like him as a player, but Saints just aren’t scoring enough at present. Jimenez looks a good GW13 and 14 option but has a terrible GW12 fixture and I need someone in this weekend who’s got a decent chance of scoring more than 2 as I don’t think I’ll get much help from my bench. Wilson has been superb this season, but double Bournemouth going into their GW13 and 14 fixtures would be a brave move. So that leaves Murray – good fixtures, solid rather than spectacular form and an ok-ish fixture versus Cardiff, the problem being that The Seagulls are much less effective away from home.
A tricky choice, I’ve gone for Murray in the end. My GW13 plan would then be to sell Fraser for Richarlison. I’d then try and hold my GW14 transfer leaving my options open for buying Fraser back in GW15 or looking at alternative Bournemouth cover. GW15 looks another turning point in the fixtures and I’m very conscious of Spurs fixtures around then as well. Do I dare think of Sir Harold again after he hurt me so badly in his one week cameo a few weeks back? Can I forgive him? Thoughts of that are a few weeks away yet…
So to this week’s team. Continuing the theme of this season it kind of picks itself. Salah is my captain – I hope Klopp doesn’t rest him after The Reds tough game in Serbia as I think he could go very big against the fragile Fulham backline. Best of luck this week to all the fellow Geeks out there – may your arrows be green!
Jordan finished with an overall rank of 76k last season

Gameweek 11 review:
Another good week for me, holding my place at the top of the contributors league. Only 5 returns but fortunately for me 4 of those were double figure returns, including my captain Aguero. My Wilson to Arnautovic transfer was a risky one but proved to be worth it in the end with Arnautovic scoring 12 to Wilson’s 8. Once again Richarlison started as CF this week scoring 15. Martial carried on his great form with another goal and therefore gaining maximum bonus from that game scoring me 10. Even though Chelsea conceded Alonso still returned via an assist and one bonus scoring 6 this week.
Finally, Aguero scored and provided 2 assists alongside 2 bonus scoring me 26. I should have had another returner in Mane but his perfectly valid goal against Arsenal was disallowed which annoyed me not only as a fantasy football player but also as a Liverpool fan. Blanks from Salah, Mendy and Fabianski are of no concern to me. However, Trent and Hughes my other two blanks, are both on my watchlist as I’m not sure of Trent’s gametime and I feel there is a better cheap midfielder option now than Hughes.
As previously stated my transfer of Wilson to Arnautovic was a success as it broke itself even with the -4 and I saved myself a transfer. This week I was originally going to do Wan-Bissaka to Dunk/Duffy so I could bring in a Brighton defender for one of Martial/Richarlison who both have tough fixtures. However, after both of them returning and both of them being in good form I really don’t think it’s a good idea to do that so instead I’m going to just play both and save my free transfer.
Typically I’m someone who likes to plan his transfers a few weeks in advance but right now I’m so happy with my team I really have no idea what to do with them. I have one transfer I’m very likely to do which is Hughes to Diangana. Diangana is a fantastic £4.5m option whom right now is playing RW for West Ham and making his presence known. He’s played every game since the Yarmolenko injury and seems to have fought off the competition of Antonio. He’s a young lad so likely to be inconsistent but a RW at a good team like West Ham for £4.5m is a steal in my opinion, especially with their incredible fixtures coming up. I’ll likely do this transfer next week if I don’t have anything else I want to do next week. I know he has Man City but Hughes has Liverpool so it makes very little difference as both would be benched.
The other transfers I’m contemplating are Trent to Van Dijk/Robertson if he does get rotated again which I feel like may be the case this weekend. It will most probably the former though as I doubt I can find the money for the latter if I do, do it. I’m also looking at working out a way to do Mane to Hazard/Sterling after GW16 when Liverpool’s fixtures turn again as I think Salah is enough cover when the fixtures are poor.
Originally I was contemplating playing Hughes and bringing in Dunk/Duffy so I could bench both Martial and Richarlison for their poor fixtures (Man City away and Chelsea away respectively) but after their double figure returns last week and now combined 39 points they’ve returned me in 2 weeks I think I’m just going to play both and make Hughes my first sub. My second sub will be Doherty vs arsenal away and third sub will be Wan-Bissaka vs Spurs at home. Of course Patricio is my substitute goalkeeper this week as Fabianski has a far nicer fixture vs Huddersfield away.
Mo Salah. Hoping for a similar if not better return than the one at Cardiff two weeks ago. Fulham are by far the worst team defensively in the league currently. They’ve conceded 16 goals in 6 games away from home so far, that’s an average of 2.67 goals a game. After comfortably one of the worst ever performances I’ve seen from Klopp’s Liverpool against Red Star Belgrade Tuesday I’m hoping they’ll bounce back and get back to that free flowing Liverpool we all know from last year.
Good luck with gameweek 12.
Yaniv finished with an 8k OR last season

GW11 points: 70 (average 52) Total points 724, Gameweek rank 742k, Overall Rank: 21k, green arrow 4k, Team Value: £103.0m
I like to open with the same words, It’s my third green arrow in a row, again only a small one from 25k to 21k with 5 returners from 11, 2 with double digit and a score of 70.
This week big hitters who could have hurt you or lift you were Richi and Arni and if you had both, you probably had a big boost to your rank, I had only Richarlison and had another big hitter Jimenez but stupidly or not, he was on my bench.
Wilson kept his high form scoring against Man U, and it wasn’t a surprise at all, I guess he can score in any match this year and his team keeps being very attacking minded, so he stays although a very tough fixture ahead.
Kun was everyone’s captain and played 90!! minutes for the first time since GW4, and got a goal and 2 assists. Raheem (who is not in my team) kept his stunning form and had 2+2 game with a season high of 21 points. That really didn’t hurt as most of the leading managers don’t have him. He is on my monitor list , and I will have to decide for the long term if it’s him or Eden, (77 vs 79 points) as I think than he can outscore Eden during the entire season. As I bought Eden very late, I am not obligated to his price but I won’t do nothing before the Derby and the international break.
Again, Liverpool conceded a late goal that ruined for me at least 9/10 points as TAA was set for maximum bonus point until the 82nd minute.
My two subs were Pereira and Knockaert on the bench instead of Barkley and Balbuena. While Pereira got a CS, Balbuena, who I preferred to Jimenez, got 1 point while Jimenez got 12 points with an unexpected 2nd penalty. Barkley played very deep, wasn’t effective and got subbed in the 63rd minute. He played 90 minutes on Thursday in the Europa which makes me wonder if he will start vs. Everton.
One word about Mendy, when Sane is on the field he blocks the left side of the field and as I see it, Mendy plays in the back and don’t go up a lot. The opposite way when Mahrez or Sterling is on the field. They always goes to the middle to make more room for Mendy, so this point needs further thought.
We are just before the international break, so I will try to save my FT for next GW. The only concern I have is that I still don’t have Arni, but I will not sell Wilson before this GW, and with Jimenez I will have to take -4 and downgrade somewhere else, and Jimenez has 2 strong fixtures after the break.
Doherty will be my second sub, and I will play 2 from Balbuena, Barkley and Jimenez. Jimenez has the lowest chance to return, but for now he is in with Barkley, but it will be last minute call.
About the armband. One of the easiest decisions of the season, Mo it is, and I hope he will score big and will give a boost up in the ranking vs who ever don’t own him. It is important that he will outscore Mane too. I am afraid only from unexpected rotation, there is a small chance in my opinion that one of MO or Mane will be rested, as Shaqiri and Firmino will start for 100%, so it is all about whether Shaqiri will play in the front 3 before them.
Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17
GW11 points: 78 (average 52) Total points 684, Gameweek rank 287k, Overall Rank: 116k, green arrow 76k, Team Value: £102.5m
Finally a good GW for Real Chariedad and green arrows everywhere.
Transfers really worked as Shaqiri that made way for Felipe Anderson was benched and Anderson scored twice giving me also bragging rights among my buddies 😎
This week as you can see fixtures are very bad for my players. I have 3 players from the Manchester derby, and another 7 players with an away game leaving Hazard with a home game.
I have transferred out Mitrovic for Murray as I feel he has a good program. I made the transfer before the confirmation of Maddisons injury😡
Captain: not having a Liverpool asset is not ideal. Aguero is playing a derby so I am not confident in giving him the armband. Which leaves Hazard and Kane. I am currently on Kane as regardless of his bad form this year (has had a good midweek game though) I think its good opportunity to captain him against Palace and being a differential at the same time!
Sergio finished with an OR of 17k last season and 21k in 16/17
GW11 points: 60 (average 52) Total points 636, Gameweek rank 1,676k, Overall Rank: 482k, green arrow 7k, Team Value: £101.8m
60 points last week mainly down to Aguero as captain, with the support of Arnautovic and not much more, a couple assists from the Chelsea guys. No rank change. So a disappointing result in a high scoring week, particularly after having played my wildcard. The main fluff was my last minute move to leave Richarlison out the week he decided to brace. Trying to look for some positives on the move, I was not planning to play him this week, and the spare money allowed me to keep Robertson and not go with Alexander-Arnold, who since then has been subbed twice at half time, so not good signs there. Then, I picked the right team for clean sheet last week in Newcastle, however I was unlucky with Lascelles being subbed at half time due to injury.
Regardless of Lascelles condition, I’ll save the transfer this week. If he is not fit or someone else is rotated (Barkley?), the first two subs in the bench have good match ups anyway. Or I might play Snodgrass ahead of Lascelles in the first place. Captain Salah v Fulham of course.
Good luck for GW12 Geekers !
