Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends. However the FFGeek team and the Contributor tracker team mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make transfers as articles are posted. So you’re always up to date and live

Rick Porter

Rick’s last 5 seasons ORs were 1k, 29k, 1k, 30k and 2k.

GW14 Points: 61 (FPL average 58) Total points: 936, Overall Rank: 55k, red arrow: 12k  Team Value: £104.3m

Rick has used his wildcard

A fairly standard week where there weren’t too many winners or losers. In many cases, around 50% of our scores came courtesy of Salah. That’s great, but his ownership is so high we may as well be playing with ten. It was the goals from Jota, Raphinha, Son, Wilson and a cheeky Smith Rowe that essentially dictated success. I had Jota and Raphinha, but I needed something from Kane to stand any chance of improving rank and that just wasn’t to be. I dropped about 13k in the end, which isn’t so bad all things considered.

Transfers

I went early with my planned Toney to King and White to Alonso transfers as soon as deadline had passed. I had to do it before any further rises scuppered my ability to shift Kane to Ronaldo next week. After seeing Kane’s performance against Brentford, it’s a move I’m glad I haven’t been priced out of. Antonio may have been a better sell than Tony, but I have money built into him and his ownership means I’d probably want him back in a few weeks when the fixtures (and hopefully his form) improve.

Bench

Currently Gallagher, King and Sissoko make up my bench purely based on fixtures, but I may change that.

Captain

I’m not ready to go against Salah just yet and I can’t consider Kane as anything other than vice due to his form. Besides, a haul from Kane will benefit me regardless of a captain chip – an uncaptained Salah is only slightly less scary than not owning him at all.

Stephen Troop

Stephens last 5 seasons ORs were 22k, 86k, 43k, 52k & 64k

2FT and 0.2m ITB but can’t think of a way to use one so looks like it’ll be getting burned. Next week I want to do Toney to King and Raphina to Bowen or a city midfielder. King has City this weekend so doesn’t make sense to make that move this week and Raphinha has a decent fixture this week. I could potentially “upgrade” Sissoko to a better 4.5 but that spot will so rarely be needed.

Captain Salah. Main lineup issue is whether to play Antonio, Livramento or White (currently Livra)

Transfer summary: May not make one!

GW14 Review

It was a bit of a strange GW. Mo’s captaincy aside, few managers posted many points. Apart from The Egyptian King’s (30) brace, I had just Jota (8), Raphinha (8) and Wilson (9) returning. Jota scored from open play, whereas the latter 2 returned from the spot.

By Wednesday night, I had risen to 22K but one day later I settled at 36K. This goes to show how close the rankings are.

It was my second green arrow on the bounce, which was very welcome. It was also my second consecutive GW in which I had transferred out a returning player. The Dias to Alonso transfer was an upgrade but backfired this time. One of the reasons I rarely take hits, is it just adds salt to my wounds when the departing player outscores the incoming player.

Thoughts

With such a short turnaround, it is hard to reflect much before GW 15 is upon us. My initial plan has been to WC in GW 16. I am not sure exactly how many players I will change from my team or it’s better to wait a bit later in the season as my team is fairly template.

The advantage of WCing is to clean out players such as Jimenez, Wilson and Raphinha who now have poor fixtures. I also have players who are carrying injures such as Foden and Reece James although both now appear to be fit. I will keep GW 16 pencilled in and see how this GW pans out. The other main advantage is to avoid playing a WC when I will be busy with Xmas things.

GW15 Preview

At present, I have triple Chelsea defence who travel to West Ham. They looked poor at the back against Watford and Kante and Jorginho were sorely missed. Hopefully, they will bounce back and play a master class in defence. Jimenez has a poor run of fixtures, so I can take him out for a one-week punt. I can just afford Jesus and he could get behind Watford’s high line. Another option would be to get Watkins.

Captaincy

After another massive haul, it has to be Mo Salah © again.

Before transfers, this is how my team lines up.
