FPL team tips GW17 – FFGeek contributors show their GW17 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

At the end of each commentary I’ve included a transfer summary.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 7k last season and 13k in 16/17

GW16 points: 62 -4 (average 55) Total points 1004, Gameweek rank 1,921k, Overall Rank: 24k, red arrow 5k, Team Value: £104.0m

Another short write up from me this week as the busy December schedule continues, although the slightly poor gameweek does also contribute! The disappointment all came from my decision to remove Salah just in time for only his second double figure haul of the season with his hat trick at Bournemouth. His removal meant that Aubameyang came in to take the armband, but unfortunately could only return a single assist. In the end, I settled for a red arrow of 4k which could have been a lot worse if not for the performances of Anderson and Robertson.

I was hoping to roll the transfer this week but the injury for Martial seems to not be going away and with doubts about Wilson, I can’t afford to have any injured passengers. I’ve decided to bring Son in for the nice home fixture against Burnley which will also feature my captain Kane! The last decision will be who to bench out of Richarlison and Wan-Bissaka as I currently favour the attacker but that could change by tomorrow’s deadline.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

GW16 review

Thankfully it’s going to be a fairly short write-up this week as personal circumstances have made the last few days rather hectic. There’s only so much I can say about what is unquestionably my worst gameweek on FPL record and I don’t want to ruin the festive cheer for everyone. To briefly sum up: sold Salah, benched Alonso, two players injured, only 3 returns from the rest. The brief honeymoon provided by GW16 quickly reverted back to season type for me and my season is now beginning to look more like some crazy FPL Shakesperean tragedy / comedy depending on which you look at it. As such, I’ve decided to change my team name once again (4th time this season!) to reflect this :-)

GW17 Team

1 free transfer, David Silva injured and John Stones doubtful, 0.5m in the bank. I’d originally planned to sell Glenn Murray this week, but I’ll have to hold now for his tough fixture versus Chelsea and will concentrate on shifting the red flagged Silva. I’m looking at a price downgrade to give me the pathway to bring Salah back for a points hit next week as he seems to have found the form of last season again. I’ve not decided on my moves fully yet but I’m looking at 2 options. One is Snodgrass in for Silva, which would then mean I could downgrade Murray next week and use Richarlison (reluctantly), Alonso or possibly even Stones as an enabler for Salah. The other option for this week is a Spurs double up with Son replacing Silva and I’ll use Kane as the enabler for Salah at a later date. I’m also keeping an eye on Hazard (nice fixtures coming up) and De Bruyne.

Captain – Kane is the obvious choice, though I’m a little wary of his minutes and Spurs’ legs after a tough midweek visit to the Nou Camp. Aubameyang also looks a nice option, though Saints might get a boost from the new manager. I’ll probably stick with Kane. I’ll put my final team on Twitter on Friday night with my confirmed changes. All the best for this week folks – remember to do the opposite to me as my team is officially cursed!

Yaniv Salomon

Yaniv finished with an 8k OR last season

Gameweek 16 review

So, I got 55 points this week same like the weekly average (GW rank 2.7m inside the cup), but really should have score 75, with my stupid decision not to captain Mo, who had a better fixture against a bad defence.  It was an disaster to see Kane comes in the 75 minute after Spurs already led 2-0, I really don’t get it, but that’s what this game all about, and you need to recover fast to get back to green fast (outside again now from the top 10k)…

5 returners were ok, with the great performance of the Egyptian king, a surprising CS from Alonso (who has a nice set of fixtures).   I really hope he starts getting some attacking returns again.   Another CS from fantastic Allison (amazing save in CL in the 93 minute) and goals from attacking Doherty and Richarlison who has already 8 goals in 13.5 games. Jimenez got in after half time and hit the post, should have score but he really looks good for next GW’s.

Mitrovic my transfer in (I really brought him in for GW17 and afterwards), was subbed early for the first time this season, but it was in 3-0 for United when he has already 4 YC , so it’s OK… Disappointing defence performances by West ham and Everton got for me 2 points together from Balbuena and Keane.

Gameweek 17

So, it was about time to get rid of Barkley and I brought in Snodgrass who looks very good in the last 3 games and has some SP responsibility in decent price £5.3m. I have now 1.0m ITB and I am looking to take ineffective McTominay out in the next 2-3 weeks for a regular starter before the Christmas time.

Trent is in doubt for this game, but he is staying anyway in my team (especially when Gomez and Matip is injured for at least a month).  If he doesn’t play Balbuena will come in for him, other than that no really issues in my lineup.

About the armband

After last week I really need to consider Mo, but 3 things, I don’t see Kane sitting again (he just desire to be the top goal scorer, he has way better game against bad Burnley defence. Also as a United fan , I really can’t captain Mo, so it’s on again Kane. I hope he can return some lost points for me after last week.

With the injury news regarding TAA I have taken a -4 to being in Kolasinac for him.

Good luck everyone!

Yaniv

Alex Ball

Alex finished in 17k last season 10k in 16/17 28k in 15/16 and 3k in 14/15

GW16 points: 51 -8 (average 55) Total points 937, Gameweek rank 3,334k, Overall Rank: 205k, red arrow 77k, Team Value: £104.7m

‪A very demoralising week that to compound a really difficult month. I was at 21k in gameweek 7. After this game week I’ll be outside 200k. When you spend time reviewing and planning your moves and then Lady Luck and 50/50 calls consistently fall the wrong way, it starts to get very demoralising. Of course blame lies with me for selling players that have scored well or not bringing in players that have done well. This compounds the problem as you begin to doubt your judgement and decision making.

This week was another combinations of poor calls and bad luck. Selling my two pool players was foolish in hindsight but hey it has given me a team that should do well this week. However, I’m really doubting my moves after such a poor run so expect another Salah haul!

No moves this week with Kane capo. Good luck all!

Well, that Salah transfer out was a strong contender for lowest moment in my FPL history, with my rank nearing the unknown territory over the million mark. Salah would have been my captain had he remained in the team, so a good 40 points missed. The annoying thing is that I broke one of my main rules playing FPL, which is to not transfer out a good player who is returning OK with a good fixture. I even texted the geek during the week saying that I did the rage transfer of Salah and didn’t know why. However, doing so poorly this year has started to make me choose more alternative moves that I would not normally do. Another example, I had planned for long to bring Richarlison 2 weeks ago, but I thought to go differential with Sigurdsson, and again that has ended up with a 15 point deficit.

Anyway, what is done is done, my task now is to go back to my normal way of playing the game and forget about my current OR for a while. The succession of gameweeks during Christmas should help for this and hopefully I can get back on track for a decent finish at the end of the year.

So this week I am going with my planned move of Siggy out for a City mid, and due to budget it is going to be Bernardo Silva, which actually is good timing given David Silva injury, this should make Bernardo safe in the lineup. At least ‘safe’ to Pep level of safety. Captain Kane this week, no doubt about it. Murphy, Dunk and Martial on bench.

Good luck for GW17 Geekers !

Transfer summary.  Probably Sigurdsson out Bernardo Silva in
