FPL team tips GW21 – FFGeek contributors show their GW21 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

At the end of each commentary I’ve included a transfer summary.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 7k last season and 13k in 16/17

GW20 points: 30 (average 50) Total points 1,210, Gameweek rank 5,723k, Overall Rank: 66k, red arrow 35k, Team Value: £104.2m

GW20 review

The fact that the highlight of my gameweek was seeing Sané emerging from the City bench for a brief cameo speaks volumes for the performance of my team in GW20. His appearance prevented Kamara coming off my bench with his penalty miss as I limped to a final score of 30 points – a truly horrendous result. The only returns were an assist from Son and Alonso’s clean sheet which was supplement by a yellow card resulting in my highest individual score being a paltry 5 points. My captain was Hazard who had been transferred in for Sterling, so I lived in great fear of a haul from the latter and I was lucky to avoid this given the chances presented his way.

I am still having major trouble with having the correct premium players in my team with Kane and Salah killing my rank over the last few weeks. Currently I have no immediate plans to correct this, but it has been frustrating lately. Since GW11 when I sat at 9k overall, I have had 8 red arrows out of 9 weeks which has seen a considerable fall in rank. However, I am still in solid position and have a foundation to build upon if I can find some momentum in the New Year.

GW21 Team

My plan to kick start the New Year on a positive note is to simply hold the transfer this gameweek and hope for the best! With Salah facing a trip to the Etihad on Thursday, I am happy to hold off bringing him for another week or two with the plan to use Son as the sacrifice when he heads to the Asia games. I have considered biting the bullet on Man Utd players such as Pogba and Rashford, but the next couple of fixtures don’t look too great and I’m waiting to see if the Solskjaer effect can continue.

Captaincy is a battle between Aubameyang and Hazard with both having strong home fixtures against Fulham and Southampton respectively. I do have a slight fear for the minutes of the former as he has played a lot of minutes over the Christmas period which means I have the armband on the Chelsea man for now. If I was 100% sure of an Aubameyang start then I would go for him, though I do fancy Hazard against a Southampton side who continue to line up with a rookie right back. The rest of my squad predominantly have strong fixtures this week, so I am hopeful of bouncing back with a bang – surely I’m overdue a good gameweek!

Best of luck to everyone and hope you have a great New Year!

GW2o Review

One step forward, one step back sadly for my team. After a good GW19, I’ve given 120k of the 148k places I made up back immediately after yet another terrible gameweek. Things actually looked ok on Saturday despite Salah’s haul in the evening and I was sitting on a 30k rise going into Sunday. Captain Kane had scored though annoyingly got booked and there was a welcome 9 pointer from my stand-in keeper Button. I knew though that I’d need returns from all 4 of my Sunday players to have any chance of an overall green arrow. Sadly only Alonso returned (and also got booked in the process) with Sane’s late cameo saving me the further indignity of having Kamara’s -1 come off my bench. 3/11 returns then and 4.4 million gameweekrank. Ugh.

This season has been so volatile scoring-wise. There are so many players in the mid- to high-range price brackets that can score big and you just can’t own them all. If your premium core fire and one of them’s your captain, you’ll hold rank maybe make a small gain at best. If your differentials fire as well, you’ll make a nice gain. Anything else? And it’s big fat red arrows. Challenging times indeed!

GW21 Team

Another shortened one from me this week with the quick turnaround. I had planned to carry my transfer this week and buy Salah back next gameweek, but Man United’s form is too good to ignore especially that of the enigmatic Paul Pogba. He also is a handy mid-range enabler at his current price, so I’ve shamefully hopped on the bandwagon and brought him in for Sane. This leaves me several options next week to get Salah back involving either selling Aubameyang or Hazard though I’m leaning towards the former. I am a little worried though about not carrying a City asset so at some point I may look to bring Aguero back in for Kane.

For my team, it’s 4-4-2 again and we’re spoiled for choice for captain options. Both north London teams with a point to prove against opponents who are at the foot of the table but have improved of late. For me though, I fancy Hazard at home to Southampton. The Saints have also improved a bit with some new manager bounce but still look very suspect at the back. I’m hoping Hazard will go back into the false 9 slot where he’s been so effective with Giroud likely to be sidelined with the ankle knock he picked up against Palace. Fingers crossed.

A very Happy New Year to you all and all the best for GW21!

Yaniv Salomon

Yaniv finished with an 8k OR last season

GW20 points: 67 -4 (average 50) Total points 1,244, Gameweek rank 789k, Overall Rank: 22k, green arrow 8k, Team Value: £103.7m

Hi guys,

GW20 review

67 points this week 17 points above the weekly average and a little relief after my worst week of the season (went down from 10k to 30k and now I hope to start climbing back – 23k)

6 returners with 2 nice call on the armband as Salah scored 12 and could have scored 18 if he hadn’t been so generous. Rashford with a  nice assist and goal, helped United keep an average score of 4-1 since Ole arrived.  That 1 goal each time has ruined Shaw’s CS, I HOPE IT CAN GET BETTER.

Alonso with a CS, but 0!! in the threat index, as he just seems right now too expensive for his output and I need to monitor when I will take him out. I had 3 returners (4 with Doherty on the bench) in 1 game, Kane with a fantastic goal, Son with a lucky assist for that goal, and fantastic ending from Jimenez who is becoming the best value for money for strikers with returns in 55% of the matches. I also had a good feeling on Button but didn’t want to put him against Digne and Richarlison who didn’t have any luck. Snodgrass played only 45 minutes and I can see his way out in a shiny day.

GW21

Pogba is the man of the hour, with 46 (without penalties)!!! Points in last 3 GWs since Jose left. He plays almost as an ACM and seems to be all over the place.  He is very dangerous not to have as almost half million people brought him in in 24 hours (already TSB of 27%). As for me I have already 3 United players (if you can call McTominay an active one) and I need to a hit to bring him in.

However I do have a nice squad for this GW and it will be better to save a FT for a GW that it is almost two weeks from now and United next GW will be away game vs Spurs. So I will keep my FT for now unless I hear Rashford will not play (small doubt for now). In goal I am going with Button as I can’t see City not scoring at all after the 0-0 in Anfield. Shaw and Snodgrass are first and second subs, and I hope this week can lead to 7-8 returners and a green arrow.

About the armband

Salah is in incredible form, 4 double digits from the last 5 game weeks including 5 goals and 3 assists, and as I always believed it’s Mo of last year and he is not the one season wonder people were talking about. I think he will be my favourite option for captaincy in every GW except the next one, when Klopp will need to play carefully, for now I am going with Kane but it’s not final.

Good luck all and have a lot of green arrows!

Happy new year!

Yaniv

Hello all and happy new year!!!

Nothing really to say about GW20, hit the average thanks to Pogba. Only 3 returns- Pogba Alonso and captain Kane.

This weeks transfer is Laporte out (I am fed up really) and Van Dijk in. There are only 2 reliable defences this year – Chelsea and Liverpool. So by having Alonso, Van Dijk and Digne with great fixtures and attacking returns along with 2 cheapies bennett and schindler I am covered.

Regarding my midfield I have a lot of thinking to do as Snodgrass has to go. With the return of Arnautovic someone will get the boot and he was subbed in halftime so I think I should act fast.

I wont be doing the change though until I see what I will do with my attackers and especially Auba if Arsenals bad form continues. I am even considering a 4-5-1. I will have everything cleared soon.

On a note I acted fast getting Button ages ago as I knew Ryan will leave in Jan. Now I have 2 playing GKs.

Captain – its between Hazard and Auba this week. Currently I am with Auba

Robert Cosgrove

Robert finished with an OR of 20k last season and 23k in 16/17

GW20 points: 40 (average 50) Total points 1,187, Gameweek rank 4,623k, Overall Rank: 124k, red arrow 37k, Team Value: £103.3m

After another poor gameweek which is seeing me slide the wrong way down the league I am beginning to think about a January wildcard! But for now, 1 transfer of Hernandez out for Jimenez due to injury.

1 more week of Lingard captain who is on his last chance now!
