FPL team tips GW22 – FFGeek contributors show their GW22 teams part 1 (including Jordans wildcard)

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

At the end of each commentary I’ve included a transfer summary.

Jordan Sadler

Jordan finished with an overall rank of 76k last season

GW21 points: 64 -4 (average 54) Total points 1,350, Gameweek rank 1,276k, Overall Rank: 3k, no movement, Team Value: £104.6m

Jordan has used his 2nd wildcard!

Gameweek 21 review

It was a reasonable week giving me a 700 place increase just outside of the top 3k. I had 4 returns being Kane 24 (captain), Son 13, Aubameyang 9 and Luiz 6. Beyond those the week was a little disappointing after an incredible start on Tuesday.

Transfers:

After a lot of thought I decided to use my wildcard. I know a lot of people like to save it for the double and blank gameweeks towards the end of the season but I’m more than happy with just having my Free Hit for that time and having well planned transfers just like I did last year.

The reason I decided to do this was because I was taking a -4 anyway and then I would still have to sort the problems in my team like Son, Balbeuna, Ings and Snodgrass over the coming weeks which would have required more hits and a likely a loss of points in my side. Using my wildcard meant I wouldn’t take the hit and I could sort the 4 problems out in my squad while improving the fixtures for my players.

I did 7 transfers:

Fabianski > Alisson

Patricio > Speroni

Balbuena > Bednarek

Snodgrass > Brooks

Son > Richarlison

Gunnarsson > McNeil

Ings > Rashford

Brought in Alisson as his fixtures are excellent as is Liverpool’s defence so wanted to double up on it and will likely keep it that way until the end of the season.

Brought in Bednarek as a cheap bench filler who I may play if Southampton have a good fixture as their defence was surprisingly excellent against Chelsea on the 2nd Jan.

Snodgrass’ fixtures have turned and I think he will start to drop out the team now anyway with Nasri coming in so he needed to go. I replaced him with Brooks as I think Brooks is excellent value for his price and plays in a good attacking Bournemouth side.

Son’s got a rejuvenated United this week and then is off to the Asian Cup so thought I may as well get rid of him now for Richarlison to save me a transfer later. I went with Richarlison as he has fantastic fixtures for the next 6 weeks and we know he’s a good scoring player.

I switched from Gunnarsson to McNeil as McNeil’s underlying stats so far have been excellent for Burnley and with Lennon out and Brady banned he’ll definitely play at least the next two and I’m hoping with the form he’s been in he’ll be kept in the side. Worst case, if he isn’t kept in the side once Brady’s back I’ll just do the transfer back if I get a spare transfer at any point.

Finally, with Ings’ continuously getting injured I just decided to get rid of him and replace him with the inform Rashford. I’ve grown tired of Ings’ keep getting injured as that’s now only 240 minutes played in the last 10 gameweeks which isn’t good enough.

Bench:

Speroni will obviously be my bench keeper every week from now. I’ve questionably go with McNeil over Brooks as I think McNeil has a better chance of returning against Fulham than Brooks does against Everton away. So Brooks is my first choice sub, Doherty second and Bednarek third.

Captain: Salah for me this week. I’d expect him to be the most common captain and he has the best fixture in my opinion of the typical captain picks.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 7k last season and 13k in 16/17

GW21 points: 60  (average 54) Total points 1,270, Gameweek rank 1,763k, Overall Rank: 60k, green arrow 6k, Team Value: £104.3m

GW21 review

After 5 consecutive red arrows, I was finally able to make an improvement on my overall rank though this looked rather unlikely before the big game between City and Liverpool. Another captaincy blank from Hazard meant that I was sitting at around 70k despite good retuns from Son, Aubameyang and Alonso. With no Sterling or Salah in my team and Robertson on my bench, I was certainly fearing the worst with visions of plummeting out of the top 100k. Fortunately, a goal from Leroy Sané and a Salah blank meant that I was rewarded with a rare green arrow – hopefully this trend will continue throughout 2019!

GW22 Team

For those without Salah in their teams like myself, the transfer decision revolves around him as Liverpool enter a very promising run of fixtures, while rotation should be reduced after their FA Cup exit. It has certainly hurt not owning him over the Christmas period, especially after selling him just before his hat-trick, but I still plan on waiting one more week before getting him. The reason is that I plan on using Son as the makeweight after he flies to the Asia Cup following his Man Utd game this weekend. Also, in order to raise the funds for the upgrade, I would need to sell at least one of Aubameyang, Hazard or Alonso who all have great fixtures this weekend.

Therefore, I will delay the transfer and pray that Brighton can prove resolute opposition when Liverpool arrive on Saturday. With two free transfers in hand, I am then posed with a new dilemma of what to do as there is no one that I would particularly like to sell this week! Therefore, I am concentrating on the goalkeeper position where I have a couple of options. I could bring in Guaita for Button to provide a rotation option or simply replace Fabianski with the Palace man or another cheap keeper. I currently prefer the latter as it will provide me with a little extra cash which may come in handy for my Salah moves next week. Furthermore, West Ham have struggled for clean sheets and the fixture list is turning for them, so I will consider bringing in Etheridge, Guaita or even Gunn.

Following Hazard’s recent blanks, I will struggle to trust him with the captaincy this weekend which sees me turn to Aubameyang. His underlying stats suggest that a huge score is on the horizon and I believe that it could arrive on Saturday against that porous West Ham defence. If so, it could provide the perfect kickstart to my FPL weekend!

Best of luck to everyone and may your arrows be green!

Yaniv Salomon

Yaniv finished with an 8k OR last season

GW21 points: 74  (average 54) Total points 1,318, Gameweek rank 289k, Overall Rank: 12k, green arrow 10k, Team Value: £104.8m

74 points this week, 20 points above the weekly average, second consecutive green and a good week after my disastrous GW19.  A nice OR 12k rank again and on my way to the top 10k.  I’m aiming to stay there till the end of the season.

Only 5 returners (more than the minimum of Geek’s 4) but all of them with bonus points and 3 with double digits including the captain, so it must be good. This is especially so as I went Hazard to Son and got an extra 10 points for doing so (even if it is only until Son leaves for the Asian Cup after GW22). Kane and Son should have had more points easily, and had some horrible misses from both assisting each other, but you can’t complain about their score.   Cardiff just didn’t have any defence at all this game I have to say!

Rashford was the United main man and got me extra points over Pogba owners.   I will monitor Pogba after the Spurs game.

Another return from Kola with an assist but Arsenal just can’t get a clean sheet.  Alonso with a CS and 2 bonus points, but he just can’t get attacking points.  He’s playing very deep unfortunately.  Take this fact, Alonso had 8 attacking returns until GW11 and in the last 10 GW no attacking returns at all and it’s not bad luck in my opinion.  However, it’s not the right time to take him out before home game to Newcastle (best CS odds around 60%).   Maybe when Mendy is back, in approximately 3 weeks, I will take Alonso out.

Everton and Wolves players were very disappointing (Digne, Rich, Doherty and Jimenez) in their home games when you would expect all of them to return.  Mo blanked after he should have got an assist but incredible save on the line from Stones denied it.  Maybe it was good for my team generally though? Button got an extra point over Allison so couldn’t complain about that choice.

Gameweek 22

I had 2 FT and kept them till all the cup games were finished.  Yesterday I changed Kola to TAA who I like more on both sides of the field plus better fixtures for almost the same price. I still have that extra 3 million from subbing Hazard to Son (who will go next week). I like 10 of my 11 starters.  Although Son and Kane face Rashford although as I’ve put Shaw on my bench, but it doesn’t really matter.

I don’t like the form of Snodgrass (Shaw and Doherty will not keep a CS in my opinion and McTominay is not even my bench warmer).  I can’t see Snodgrass returning vs Arsenal and maybe Nasri will take his place in the starting lineup as well. So I am thinking about subbing him maybe to Deulofeu and I will still have £2.5m ITB.   Or maybe I will go for a punt with Bernardo Silva who I think is a sure starter for Monday.   However,  I will make the last call only on Saturday morning.

About the armband

Salah for me this week!

Good luck all and have a lot of green arrows!

Mikael Danielsen

Mikael finished 100k OR last season and 5k in 16/17

GW21 points: 58 -4  (average 54) Total points 1,256, Gameweek rank 2,289k, Overall Rank: 89k, red arrow 6k, Team Value: £105.1m

As I have no pressing issue, I’m planning a “luxury transfer” next time with one of my 2FT. Probably transfer Højbjerg out for Puncheon and use the 0.2 ITB to upgrade Button to Guaita when Ryan is back.

Costas Chari

Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17

GW21 points: 42  (average 54) Total points 1,232, Gameweek rank 5,181k, Overall Rank: 166k, red arrow 51k, Team Value: £102.4m

Hello guys!

A terrible week for me. I had to choose between Kane, Auba and Hazard for captain and of course chose wrong for the 5th gameweek in a row.

One change this week in Aguero for Aubameyang. I really need a City cover for the next 2 GWks. I made the change really early and he is now a doubt but I’m hoping he will play.

Captain – Its between Aguero and Hazard. Currently Aguero has the armband but I will monitor his “illness”
