GW2 Review

A shocking week for me with 53 points and a gameweek rank of 5.4m.
This must be my worst GW rank ever.
I started the season with a very different strategy to my usual one and it backfired big time. In my first article I mentioned that I usually start with a very templated team. This year I didn’t. The decisions I made proved to be the wrong ones.
Not having Jesus cost me many points. Having Digne with his 1 point last week against Bournemouth and the -1 point this week against Everton didn’t work out. The rest of my 50/50 decisions didn’t work out either. In fact, my original team before going Threemium is 23 points better than my current team.
The reality is that I am not happy at all with my team and need to make some key changes. I will have 2 FT and may take a hit to sort out some challenges I have with the team.

GW3 Transfer plan

2 FT.
I can’t afford to continue to fall behind, and need to bring in some of the players that can hurt me the most. Namely Gabriel Jesus. He is almost 80% owned and will have >100% EO this week and I can’t afford not to have him.
In addition I need to get Bailey out and potentially Digne.

There are few options I considered:

1) Jesus and Toney IN, Kane and Archer OUT – It gives me 3 forwards, Toney has good fixtures, but on the other end leaves me with no Spurs coverage when they have Wolves, Forest and Fulham in the next 4 games.

2) Jesus and Diaz IN, Salah and Archer OUT – This for me means replacing one bug risk I have (not having Jesus) with another (not having Salah). I will also captain Salah in GW4. So a no go.

3) Jesus and Kulu IN, Kane and Bailey OUT – Gives me a Spurs coverage with a bit of risk (namely Richarlison a risk for Kulu playing time) as well as more fun than the other picks as I am taking my father and my kids to watch Spurs vs Wolves this week. In addition, having an 8m MID gives me more flexibility. (Note that I can’t do Jesus and Diaz for Kane and Bailey as too many Pool players)
I also thought about a ‘crazy’ one of Jesus and Neco IN for Archer and Cancello, but decided that I want Cancelo in my team.

Due to price changes, I decided to make an early transfer (Tuesday evening) and went with option 3.

So, Jesus and Kulu in, Kane and Bailey OUT.
With my luck so far, Kane will do great, Kulu will start on the bench, Jesus will blank :)

I am considering another transfer for a hit. I have 0.8m ITB, and want Digne out. If I do it, It will more than likely be Cucurella IN, Digne OUT.

GW3 Captaincy

Debating between Jesus (bou), Haaland (new) and Salah (mun). Currently leaning towards Jesus, will decide nearer to deadline

Watchlist

There are a few changes that I plan to make for my team over the next few weeks. I will more than likely be looking for 2 new defenders (instead of Digne and Castagne) and potentially MD.
Here are the players I am watching at the moment with potentially bringing them to my team over the next few weeks:
GK – I started with Alisson in goal. Not a great decision (not just Liverpool form but also the fact it takes one Pool spot. I knew it before and decided to go for it. Not a great decision) and I may move at some stage to a cheaper GK and free 1 Pool spot. On my watch list are Ramsdale, Sanchez (Brighton are looking good and nice fixtures)
DEF – I want to bring in a Chelsea defender (James or Cucurella. I think the 1m difference in price will make it Cucu), Arsenal (If I am not going for Ramsdale in goal, I will go with one of their defenders. Need to watch them a bit more to decide between Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko). Other teams I am watching are Spurs (and specifically Perisic, but it seems too big of a risk to bring him in at the moment), Brighton (Dunk) and Brentford (Mee)
MID – Mainly looking at cheap enablers. Onana from Everton impressed me. He is usually playing as a defensive MD but played more attacking vs Villa. He is one to watch at 5m. Gross is also someone I am looking at. He played so far 180min, attacking, Brighton has good fixtures, so definitely someone to watch.
I am not that keen on the other cheap MIDs (Lavia, Dasilva, etc)
FOR – Toney from Brentford (see above) is one I am looking at.

Captain – Currently on Jesus. Potentially change to Haaland/Salah.

Transfer Summary

2 FT – Jesus and Kulusevski IN, Kane and Bailey OUT. May make another one for a hit (Digne OUT, Chelsea IN)

Great Gameweek2 for my team, jumped a couple of million places from 4.9m to 1.7.

I’ve seen a lot of FPL managers ditching the Liverpool defensive double and Robertson in particular but I’m keeping the faith (keeping the faith with Kane and Diaz this gameweek paid off). Its important to be patient in this game. After the man U game Liverpool have a great schedule and by the sells I am seeing Robertson is an ultra- differential and I want to capitalise on that. He has been getting in good positions and its a matter of time he bangs!

Trippier to Walker came in a point less this week but I don’t have to worry about shipping him out now that the schedule turns. Walker on the other hand seems nailed in that City team and I don’t mind a few 6s

Rashford. A punt that hasn’t paid off unfortunately but at his price point as mentioned in previous articles its a very flexible switch to anyone. I chose Dewsbury-Hall as it leaves me with £1.4m itb for flexibility onwards and he kicks of in the team with a favourable fixture at home to Southampton.

Captain this week will be Kane. At home vs Wolves and pumped up after the 96th minute goal. Spurs have already scored 6 goals, 2 of them away to Chelsea and there are more goals in that Conte side.

transfer summary: Rashford out and Dewsbury-Hall in
