FPL team tips GW31 – FFGeek contributors show their GW31 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

At the end of each commentary I’ve included a transfer summary.

Jordan Sadler

Jordan finished with an overall rank of 76k last season

GW30 points: 52 (average 48) Total points 1,868 Gameweek rank 2,422k, Overall Rank: 4k, no rank movement, Team Value: £103.8m

Jordan has used his 2nd wildcard and is using his free hit chip this week.  See also Jordan talking through his player choices and reasoning in his first draft free hit team.

Gameweek 30 review

Another red arrow and another disappointing week. I decided to change my captain from Sterling to Salah Friday which cost me 16 points. Salah could have easily had a brace and 2 assists but like most days lately, it wasn’t his day. Salah seems to be playing a slightly more reserved role with Mane being the most advanced now, so I definitely think there’s a good chance of me transferring out Salah in GW32 and bringing Mane in, in GW33 instead. Outside of Salah and Sterling the only other player that returned for me was Rondon. Jimenez returned but he was on my bench unfortunately but I still feel that was the right call.

Gameweek 31

Transfers I’ve used my free hit this week. There’s an in depth article based on my free hit team which you can check out here. Currently my team is still the same though depending on what’s said about Higuain I may change him out but if I do I’ll update what I’ve done on twitter.

Bench

Speroni, Daniels, Stankovic and Schneiderlin is my bench as I’ve tried to keep it as cheap as possible but with outfield players that should play.

Captain

I’ve actually gone with Mane over Salah this week. Mane does seem to be playing in the more advanced role of the two with Salah starting to be more of a creator of chances than continuously going for goal like we’d see last year. I think this is to do with the fact that players just surround him every time he gets the ball now so if he drops off it opens more space up for Mane to run into. I do feel like it’s a tactical tweak from Klopp as Salah has genuinely been playing well lately just isn’t scoring to the levels we’ve come to expect from him.

GW30 review

It has felt like a while coming, but I finally saw a week with significant green arrows following a gameweek rank within the top 100k for the third time this season. Essentially this was thanks to the captaincy choice where I was lucky to have placed the armband on Sterling who bagged himself a hat-trick and 42 points in total. This was supplemented by attacking points from Hazard, Jimenez and Rondon while my goalkeeper transfer of Boruc also paid immediate dividends. This resulted in my rank halving which means I comfortably reside in the top 100k and I’m in a position to attack the blanks and doubles now.

GW31 Team

Prior to last weekend, I had 9 players available for BGW31 but a suspension for Schar means that I am down to 8 with only one free transfer to play with. Looking at my side, the obvious players to bring in are a third Liverpool player and a Bournemouth attacker with both looking pretty essential for the blanks. The choice for Liverpool is between Mane and a double-up in their defence – I have decided to go for the former given his recent form and the fact they face the porous Fulham defence on Sunday. For Bournemouth representation, I have brought in Fraser with Sterling and Pogba being the players replaced given that I will free hit in DGW32 and then wildcard in GW34.

That already leads to a -4 but I have decided to make an additional transfer to give a full XI; I had plenty of cash in the bank which meant I could bring in any forward for Jimenez. The main targets were Vardy and Higuain though I could also have gone for Wilson as part of a double up on the Bournemouth attack for their nice pair of home fixtures in the blank weeks. However, I am looking to spread the risk across the gameweek and cover those with free hits so I have brought in Vardy to give some Leicester representation – this looks crucial for GW33 when they play lowly Huddersfield.

There is a battle at the Liverpool training ground for the armband this week between Salah and Mané – the latter has the form, but the Egyptian has the history. Salah is seemingly the safer option given his high ownership and I will probably be going for him, especially as the majority of Mané’s goals have come at Anfield. Perhaps another special blank gameweek performance is on the horizon from Mo!?

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

Transfer summary;  Mane, Fraser and Vardy in for Pogba, Sterling and Jimenez

Costas Chari

Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17

GW30 points: 45 (average 48) Total points 1,782 Gameweek rank 3,620k, Overall Rank: 56k, red arrow 12k, Team Value: £103.1m

Costas has used his wildcard

Hello guys!

Bad week for Real Charidad- red arrows everywhere so I am hopping I turn it around this week. Its a difficult task as a lot will be free hitting and I am not.

Transfers

Pogba & Jimenez (-4 hit) out for Hazard and Wilson. That gives me 10 playing players If Puncheon plays (hasn’t played in the last 3). I had planned everything building up to GW31 so I can field a decent team and the free hit in GW32.

With only 5 fixtures in GW31 its important that my captain pays off or else I am in for a big rank drop. There aren’t a lot of differentials either so I am hopping that mine (Chilwell, Heaton, Barnes and Anderson?) deliver.

Captain

Going with Salah again although I am tempted for Wilson/ Hazard. I will play it safe given the ownership and leave it on Salah though. In last years GW with only a few matches I had it on Mane instead of Salah who scored five against Watford. That decision really haunts me as it cost me from finishing in the top 10k.

Good luck!

transfer summary:  Pogba & Jimenez (-4 hit) out for Hazard and Wilson

Robert Cosgrove

Robert finished with an OR of 20k last season and 23k in 16/17

GW30 points: 48 -8 (average 48) Total points 1,722 Gameweek rank 3,133k, Overall Rank: 200k, red arrow 44k, Team Value: £102.2m

2 transfers this week for a 4 point hit to have 11 players for the BGW.

Sane, Jimenez out, Hazard, Wilson in

Salah captain
