FPL team tips GW33 – FFGeek contributors show their GW33 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

At the end of each commentary I’ve included a transfer summary.

Costas Chari

Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17

GW32 points: 81 on Free Hit (average 73) Total points 1,893 Gameweek rank 1,804k, Overall Rank: 74k, red arrow 9k, Team Value: £102.8m

Costas has used his 2nd wildcard and used his free hit chip this week in DGW32.

Free Hit couldn’t have been more disastrous. Might be the worst FH I played ever losing 9k in rank. My differentials did not deliver (Higuain, Batshuayi) and I had 3 man united players.

I actually had Van Aanholt and Azpilicueta minutes before the deadline and changed them to get 2 man U defenders. This shows you that last minute panic thinking never helps.

GW33- due to planning I have a full team with another 2 on the bench with a fixture this gameweek.

Transfer: Aguero out Aubameyang in. The injury to Aguero coupled with the no fixture and the 2 hard fixtures in 35 drove to do the switch. Pep said that he will rotate the squad a lot so I went with Auba since Arsenal have favourable fixtures and are on fire. Hopefully Unai Emery keeps him on the pitch

Lineup: I benched Bednarek and Puncheon. Hopefully VVD or Felipe Anderson (or both) who have yellow flags will play.

Captain- its between Salah, Hazard and Aubameyang. I currently have it on Hazard.

Transfer summary:  Aguero out and Aubameyang in.

Stephen Troop

Stephen finished 52k OR last season

GW32 points: 102 on Free Hit (average 73) Total points 1,882 Gameweek rank 268k, Overall Rank: 93k, green arrow 37k, Team Value: £102.3m

Stephen played his free hit chip this week and has all the other chips available.

GW32 review

A fairly successful GW with my free hit where I broke the 100 point barrier (just) and rose almost 40k places to 93k. Azpilicueta over Luiz worked out well with a surprise goal in the weekend match. Hazard performed for me and I held onto Jimenez who made up for his benching on Saturday with 2 assists and maximum bonus on Tuesday. The only non performers were Sterling, Pogba and Deulofeu.

GW33 Preview

Back to my GW31 team which is reasonably well equipped for GW33 in terms of having 11 players with Premier League fixtures. Not having Hazard may hurt me on Monday night but my main priority is Anderson out for a one week punt before wildcarding in GW34. I’m looking at Leicester’s Tielemens or a punt on Ramsey.

Transfer summary: Felipe Anderson out and Tielemans or Ramsey in

Robert Cosgrove

Robert finished with an OR of 20k last season and 23k in 16/17

GW32 points: 107 on Free Hit (average 73) Total points 1,857 Gameweek rank 145k, Overall Rank: 151k, green arrow 77k, Team Value: £101.9m

Rob played his free hit chip this week and has all the other chips available

1 transfer: Anderson -> Tielemans

Captain Hazard

Sergio Torija

Sergio finished with an OR of 17k last season and 21k in 16/17

GW32 points: 93 on Free Hit (average 73) Total points 1,711 Gameweek rank 684k, Overall Rank: 1,128k, green arrow 212k, Team Value: £101.3m

Sergio played his free hit chip this week and has all the other chips available

GW32 is gone and I feel I got away with it despite many decisions not going my way with my free hit squad. I had a pathetic provisional GW rank on the 3 million on Tuesday night, but Wednesday games went my way to end up with more reasonable 700K and a green arrow.

So a mixed week in all senses: in defence 2 big successes in Laporte and Azpi, but two wrong choices in Rudiger vs Luiz and Brighton vs Palace for a cheapie. In attack, Son and Hazard over Pogba and Kane the positives, but I went with Lingard instead of Martial due to injury concerns of the Frenchman, and as probably predictable, my stubbornness with Mitro didn’t work out, with him not even making the squad Saturday, and annoyingly blocking 10 points from my first sub in the bench with him making the second game. Finally, mixed feelings about Hazard, who I felt like captaining, but the polls being 70% Aguero made me play it safe. All in all, not a double gameweek to remember for years to come.

This week we are back to a more normal boring week. I will be wildcarding the following week, and given I prepared my team in advance for GW31-33, this week’s transfer is a freebie for the one game. Given the reduced set of games, others might be taking hits to field a full 11, so on that basis I am hopeful for another green arrow, even if a small one. So a simple Mitrovic out for Rondon/King/Wilson. Captain Hazard.

Good luck for GW32 Geekers !
