Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends. However the FFGeek team and the Contributor tracker team mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make transfers as articles are posted. So you’re always up to date and live

Note I am changing from FPL average to the post hits 12 top Managers average  who have finished in the top 10K the last 3 seasons that I follow

So I got a small green in 36 with my benchboost. My -8 to got me 34 points from Nketiah, Foster and Gordon; the players they replaced got 2 points! Very lucky outcome, especially without Son or KDB. Some amazing scores, so I’m just glad to have kept pace!

My plan this week with 1FT and 0.4m itb was to roll, giving me more options in 38 to react to the state of play in the title race, four place and relegation. The injuries to Laporte and more importantly Watkins, who I was going to captain, have put a question mark over that plan.

Broadly I see my options as:

  • roll and captain Salah, Kane, Schmeichel, Gordon or Digne
  • Watkins to Richarlison and Captain Richarlison
  • Watkins to Toney
  • Laporte to Holgate (gets a bit of cash in the bank for 38 too)

I feel Watkins is likely to get minutes and I have Nketiah and Martinelli off the bench. So I’m currently swayed to roll. Picture below shows captain on Gordon but this may well change.

Good luck everyone 👍

GW36 review

GW36 was a bit of a frustrating one. The 1k green arrow is ok, but on a week where I used my last chip and scored over a 100 net points, should I feel a little short-changed? Maybe my expectations were too high. To be fair, if one of Foster, James, Mount or De Bruyne hadn’t racked up a double-figure score, my green arrow would have been bigger. The excellent Live FPL site estimated that the former of the 3 players mentioned above cost me around 5k places each and De Bruyne’s monster haul around 9k places (and fair play by the way to owners and especially Captainers!) In view of this therefore, I think perhaps a small green arrow is an ok result and I should be thankful.

The tale of the tape for my team was 8 returners – double figures for Cancelo, Laporte, Son and Nketiah with smaller returns for Schmeichel, Alonso, Richarlison and Rudiger. My Bench Boost in total was worth 18 points and my -8 hit gained me a 10 point net return. The net gain was in spite of hitting out Mason Mount – I’m not too salty on this one, I was aware of the risk that he’d play one game but potentially haul big and it was worth using him to generate funds and to bolster my quota of doubling players for GW37.

The main disappointments this week were the Liverpool boys – blanks for Trent and Captain Mo (including a sub cameo only in the 2nd game for the Egyptian.) Salah’s form is becoming a bit of a worry – he looked decidedly off the pace in both matches this week; hopefully he’ll get his radar working in the FA Cup Final this week in time for his GW37 fixture versus Southampton.

GW37 Team

1 free transfer, £0.4m in the bank.

I feel pretty vulnerable this week as it looks like around 40% of managers around my rank are still holding a Free Hit chip and are likely to deploy it this week. I’ve got a few of the main double options covered through bringing in Schmeichel and Richarlison last week, but I’ve no Villa or Palace cover and I’m sure the likes of strong single game options like Kevin De Bruyne and Harry Kane will be popular options and therefore major rank threats too.

I’ve toyed with the idea of deploying a free transfer this week and if I did I’d probably bring in Cash for Rudiger, but I’d like 2 frees for some flexibility for GW38 so I think I’m just going to suck it up and carry the transfer this week and take whatever pain I get. Joe’s Planner reckons the Free Hit could be worth an extra 20-25 points this week so it could be a tough one. With reference to my Overall Rank, I revised my season target of top 50k around GW28 back to top 90k and I’m comfortably inside that. I am however back on track for top 50k so I just hope I can stay within touching distance of this so I can get a fair crack at it in GW38 with my 2 frees.

For my team, I’ve got some selection dilemmas this week. Joe’s Planner reckons I need to leave Rudiger, Nketiah and Laporte on the bench, which again leaves me loathe to burn a transfer when it may simply compound this decision. As for Captaincy, again tough one this week and a likely split but I’m leaning towards going with Richarlison with his 2 games. I did Captain Richarlison once a couple of seasons back. He got 1 point that week…I’ll say no more at the moment!

Good luck for this week then everyone – the penultimate GW of the season and the first of 12 consecutive Saturdays with no Premier League football would you believe. I’ll post my team on Twitter on Sunday morning before I leave for Leeds where I’ll be joining fellow contributors Kris, Andrew and Rick along with Geek to watch the days games. None of the 5 of us are on a Free Hit so I hope we collectively don’t have too much ranking pain!

Likely to do Salah to Son and put the captaincy on him. I’ve rarely been without Salah over the last few years but now feels the right time, and Son seems a must-own at the moment with form and remaining fixtures.

Best of luck to you all!
