With lots of uncertainty around at the moment, I’m going to wait until after the press conferences to finalise my moves. It will mean losing team value but the transfers this week are too big a decision to get wrong through rushing. I need as much information as possible.
There’s no doubt that Ronaldo’s arrival has complicated matters significantly. I used two transfers last gameweek, but now regret that. My assumption was that I would need only one free transfer this gameweek to move Ings to Calvert-Lewin. And then when Ronaldo was announced, I initially had no intention of bringing him in immediately; my view was that Bruno was the safer pick to start the Newcastle game, and that Ronaldo could probably wait.
But Ronaldo’s ownership, most importantly for me among ‘serious’ FPL managers, is ballooning. It’s getting to the stage where it becomes too much of a risk to not own him. And I’m becoming increasingly convinced that he will start the Newcastle fixture. Therefore, I’m currently planning on changing my second premium from Bruno to Ronaldo and will need to take a hit in the process. So Ings will likely leave the team for Ronaldo.
The question therefore becomes which midfielder to downgrade Bruno to. Jota is a no-go because I already have three Liverpool players and, in any event, think that Firmino’s injury will be relatively short-term – making Jota another transfer waiting to happen. It’s between Raphinha and Torres for me. That’s a very tough call. The former is a guaranteed starter and central to the Leeds attack (although the FIFA threats for Brazilian players over the IB) could cause an issue this week, while the latter is getting out of position minutes in the better attacking team. Ultimately, I think the risk of Torres being benched at any given moment (especially with De Bruyne and Foden’s impending return), coupled with City’s tricky fixtures, will see me go for Raphinha.
Captain is currently Salah but I will go safe with the polls and I would guess that meaning Ronaldo should I bring him in.
Best of luck to you all.
Transfer summary: likely Fernandes and Ings out to Ronaldo and Raphinha in

Writing this on Thursday afternoon. Haven’t had the chance to finalise plans for GW4 yet. The pre-Ronaldo signing plan was Ings to Calvert-Lewin, alternatively Tsimikas to someone could be an option too.
The main question is clearly to get Ronaldo straightaway or not, I am in the wait and see camp for now. So I won’t be taking out Fernandes for Ronaldo which would be my way to get him in. Not this week, but the move is on the cards later.
So transfer to be confirmed, likely Ings to Calvert Lewin or Tsimikas to Tierney.
My captain will be Fernandes, with Salah as vice.
best of luck all
Transfer summary: likely Ings to Calvert Lewin or Tsimikas to Tierney.
