FPL team tips GW7 – FFGeek contributors show their GW7 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 7k last season and 13k in 16/17

GW6 points: 66 (average 52) Total points 394, Gameweek rank 480k, Overall Rank: 92k, green arrow 52k, Team Value: £102.7m

Gameweek 6 review

It was another solid gameweek for my team which helped me to crack the top 100k for the second time this season; hopefully to stay this time! I had 6/11 players who returned which included a complete set of clean sheets across my backline of Alonso, Wan-Bissaka and Alexander-Arnold with the latter also picking up an assist. Meanwhile, AWB collected his third haul of maximum bonus points and I’d argue that he is proving the best value player in FPL having started at 4.0mil.

Further up the pitch, my transfer in of Maddison scored a cracking free-kick which meant I was finally able to register an immediate return from a transfer – my previous transfers this season had all blanked the gameweek that I brought them in! The captaincy mainly came down to Aguero and Salah with the armband ending up on the City forward who was slightly outscored by the Egyptian. Nevertheless, it didn’t impact the overall score too much and I was glad to see Salah on the scoresheet to ease any potential worries heading into this gameweek.

Gameweek 7 Team

The main concerns in my side revolve around those troublesome mid-price options as Lucas Moura and Walcott both blanked once more. However, they both have promising fixtures this week, facing Huddersfield and Fulham respectively, while Walcott posed Arsenal some problems in the first half last Sunday. For now, they will remain in my team, but both remain potential sacrifices for Richarlison, presuming the Brazilian returns to his early season form.

The player that I would really like to bring in is Mitrovic who is scoring goals, posting fantastic underlying stats and is the focal point of an attacking Fulham side. I currently have Wilson, but he has struggled in the last couple of weeks and was withdrawn early last time out. This presented a dilemma for me as I had the exact cash to make this swap, but with Mitrovic’s price due to rise on Monday evening, I needed to act early. This is something that I would have preferred to avoid with 16 teams in League Cup action during the midweek.

With this in mind, I decided to go down an alternate route of switching out the injured Mendy for Trippier as Spurs have a couple of great fixtures now. This move gave me a 0.2mil extra cash which meant I could wait until later in the week to make my Mitrovic decision and also enabled the option of waiting until next gameweek to avoid a hit. For now, I have held off on the transfer to give Wilson one more week as he has a reasonable fixture coming up and scored in the League Cup midweek. I haven’t enjoyed losing Mendy, but I should be able to bring him back after the international break if he is fit again.

With Chelsea and Liverpool facing off at Stamford Bridge and City welcoming Brighton to the Etihad, the captaincy decision was fairly simple. The armband will be on Aguero although I have a feeling that he will see limited minutes again with the Champions League following during the week.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

GW6 review

Hi guys, so we are back to green and on the track with a score of 69 , 17 above the average , with decent returns from 8/11 which I would love every week.

CS came from Ederson, Alonso and AWB (aka the bonus magnet!). Trippier got an assist but so unlucky not to get a CS and 9 points instead of 4 due a late goal just before the final whistle.  Upfront Big Mitro continued his outrageous form with nice goal, Maddison with a brilliant free kick looked very good and also provided the last pass to Vardy before his assist.

Kun and Mo are the bankers in my team and scored.  Mo with the armband was unlucky not to have more goals but it will come, and he will stay all the way (he can do it every game against everyone easily).   United didn’t look good home to Wolves and Shaw got 1 point.  Mane wasn’t dangerous in an easy fixture but I still think must have more than that. Hazard, who could be his replacement, didn’t look good either and also didn’t return, Zaha playing very wide and he has 1 or 2 last chances before he goes out (I think is still is their main go to guy, but they don’t look sharp, so we will see).

GW7 preview

Moving to this GW, As I wrote last week I am a big fan of Richarlison and I just can’t see him out of my team.   Walcott will go, although he could easily score in home vs a pretty porous Fulham defence.  So I am sticking with my original gut feeling (and probably continue our discussion with Ming Lu and the Geek around his midfielders rankings article).

Lineup

So all my attacking 7 (I don’t count Stephens anyway) has good chances to return and will play for sure and I will play 3-4-3.   The big debate will be the 3 at the back.  Trippier and Bennett are in for sure with the easiest fixtures of all (as Geek wrote this week Wolves looking very strong in defence and I can count them like “Top 7 team in defence for now). AWB will stay out although his amazing form , I can’t see them getting another CS vs Bournemouth.

Therefore, it’s between Shaw and Alonso, Shaw has way better chances for CS (£2.50 CS odds against £3.75 for Alonso).   I will be very surprised if Liverpool don’t score 2 at least,  so it’s then all about whether I think Alonso will deliver an attacking return.   I only have his odds to score of £6.0 so for now something tells me that United will keep CS.   So I am putting £7m defender in the bench, I hope he won’t punish me like Mendy did against Arsenal…

Captain

Kun will get the armband with no doubts at all…

Good luck to all of us!

Costas Chari

Costas finished with an OR of 29k last season and 27k in 16/17

GW6 points: 66 (average 52) Total points 419, Gameweek rank 501k, Overall Rank: 18k, green arrow 11k, Team Value: £102.3m

Firstly I am really happy I got the transfers and captain pick last week. King (2pts)and Siggy (2pts) went out for Maddison (8pts) and Mitrovic (9pts).

My risky captain, Aubameyang got more points than my other more popular premium picks of Mane, Hazard and Aguero.

I’m not prepared to wait for Mendy to be fit again, and even if he is over his injury I am guessing it will take 2-3 weeks to be match fit and play 90min so he is out for Trippier who has a good run of 3 games and has set pieces (even more so with Eriksen injured for GW7)

Captain-wise this week it’s Aguero all the way although I fear for some rotation as he will be needed for both the CL midweek and for next gameweek. If not Aguero I’ll go for Aubameyang again (he owes me a big points haul after sticking with him from the beginning)

Good luck all!

Prakhar Patel

Prakhar finished in 17th overall in fantasy premier league last season. An amazing achievement

GW6 points: 53 on WC (average 52) Total points 368, Gameweek rank 2,486k, Overall Rank: 310k, red arrow 37k, Team Value: £101.4m

After a pretty average wildcard last week, I have decided to carry on the transfer this week as I think there are no changes needed right now.
Captaincy goes to Aguero which was a pretty easy pick.Hoping big things from Richarlison against Fulham.
Good luck everyone and may your arrows be green!

FPL TEAM TIPS GW7

Joe Armiger

Joe finished with a fantastic OR of 987 last season and 49k the season before

GW6 points: 68 (average 52) Total points 368, Gameweek rank 304k, Overall Rank: 309k, green arrow 200k, Team Value: £102.4m

Following my wildcard in GW5, I decided to utilise the 2 free transfers to bring in Harry Kane for the Huddersfield and more importantly the Cardiff game respectively. The down side of this plan is that I have had to remove Mitrovic and more alarmingly Salah for what will now be the next 2 game weeks. There is obviously a big risk in not replacing Mendy who appears injured for some time however I suspect Pep might have a shock in store in the next week or so.

I now feel that I have a stable 15 which will see me through to January and I keep reminding myself during my hours of self doubt that you cannot win your respective mini leagues before Xmas but you can certainly lose them so I will continue to use the conservative approach

Happy planning fellow FPL managers and good luck

Sergio Torija

Sergio finished with an OR of 17k last season and 21k in 16/17

GW7 points: 66 -4 (average 52) Total points 383, Gameweek rank 501k, Overall Rank: 163k, green arrow 42k, Team Value: £102.0m

Finally a good week after three consecutive red arrows. I managed 62 points (after a -4) for a 500k GW rank and OR improvement to 163k.

In attack, my three strikers plus captain Salah scored, with blanks from Mane and Walcott. Defence also contributed with 3 clean sheets coming from Ederson, Robertson and AWB. Another 3 bonus points for him which is impressive. My first week transfer of Austin to Mitrovic was great, while the second one of Bertrand to Chilwell didn’t deliver yet. Leicester long term fixtures are good so hopefully Chilwell will come good. My original plan was to get Bellerin, so a bit frustrated to have changed my mind. Sokratis injury last week might open the door for £4.4m Holding, so one to watch for a cheap route into Arsenal back line.

Going into GW7 I should move out Mkhitaryan but not sure of whom to replace him with this week, Richarlison seems the obvious but I would be doubling up with Walcott. Besides, I have a couple of other ideas for the week after, so he might survive the week. I could also replace Robertson who faces two tough games on the bounce, with the idea of ultimately bringing the cheaper Trent in as my Liverpool defender in few weeks time.   However this ties up two valuable transfers so not convinced as yet.  Or I could just save the transfer which seems the best option at the moment.

I will decide last minute. The lineup is tricky this week with all defenders but Robertson being a possibility in my back three. Captain will be Aguero even if he is likely to get limited minutes.

Good luck for GW7 Geekers !
