FPL team tips GW7 –  FFGeek contributors show their GW7 teams part 1

This is part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

Scott Taylor

Scott finished with an overall rank of 1k last season and 12k in 17/18

A much better game week to say the least! GW rank inside the top 100,000, 7 returning players, 3 double figures, the right (vice!) captain choice, a green arrow of 1.6 million and an OR inside the top 1 million. Great reading for me!

Ok, so I was fortunate that Sterling didn’t come on for a 1 point cameo and so I got De Bruyne as captain and that Rico came off my bench. That was worth an additional 22 points. However, it does show how important it is to think carefully about the set up of your whole team every week. I agonise as much about my vice captain and my bench (especially the subs order) as I do about my starting 11. This week it paid off.

I’m still happy with my team and so thought I’d do a bit of tinkering around the edges this week. Walker-Peters looks to have lost his place in the Spurs side so he had to go. I also wanted to get Cantwell in so Dendoncker is out. I didn’t quite have enough in the bank for the Cantwell transfer so needed to get a cheaper replacement for Walker-Peters. Leicester have decent fixtures coming up so Soyuncu was my choice.

FPL statistics (http://www.fplstatistics.com) said on Sunday night that Walker- Peters and Dendoncker were going to fall in price so I did the transfers on Sunday. As it happens, they haven’t fallen despite, I think, showing on FPL statistics as predicted to fall on Monday and Tuesday. So I probably could have waited to see if I have any injuries after the EFL Cup – oh well!

I still have concerns about my defence and would like to get a third striker. So I have my eye on Digne, Van Dijk (no Liverpool defence is a big call though!) and Greenwood as possible transfers out. Barnes, Wood, Haller or Abraham would come in for Greenwood with a 4.5m defender and a Spurs defender (at the moment, ignoring the RB position which no one seems to have nailed down yet, Vertonghen is probably the only one I can afford) replacing Digne and Van Dijk

My plan with my current team is to have 9 more or less permanent starters (Pope, Van Dijk, Digne (apart from this week!), David Silva, Salah, Sterling, De Bruyne, Pukki and Wilson) with Greenwood and McGovern as bench fodder and the remaining 4 players rotating. If I do the transfers above, Vertonghen and the chosen striker would go into the 9 starters and the 4.5m defender into the then 5 rotating players meaning my bench is stronger than at present too.

This week’s team has a couple of selection dilemmas. The first is Lundstram or Cantwell. I’ve gone for Lundstram at the moment. Crystal Palace’s defensive record has been good so far this season and Norwich’s away form has been terrible (Cantwell himself has scored 2 points in each of the 3 away games). Given Liverpool’s propensity to concede a goal at the moment, Lundstram is as likely as anyone to be involved in it for Sheffield United. I’m not too hopeful of a clean sheet though!

The other dilemma is the captain choice. It’s between Salah, Sterling, De Bruyne and Wilson. It’s close but I think Salah has the best fixture and has only blanked once so far this season so the armband is on him although it may change once the poll results come out later in the week.

Enjoy the game week!

GW6 Recap

Sigh.

☆ Keeper

Ederson. 7 points. Awesome. Awesome isn’t good enough these days for a green arrow unfortunately.

☆ Defenders

TAA. Awesome. Awesome isn’t good enough.VVD. Probably spending too much. Like everyone else I have been ‘imaginary wildcarding’ him out to Tomori, Lundstrum, Lascalles, Soyunco, etc. Secretly I want to turn him to Robbo though.
Digne. Can they just fire Marco Silva already. The fixtures are green after city. Its not worth a hit to avoid a 0.1 price drop in this scenario. He may be moved soon for fwd funds though.
Dunk. 6 off the bench. Awesome. Awesome isn’t good enough.
Rico. 5 on the bench. Should go up in prices again at some point.

☆ Midfielders

Salah. Attacking return. Probably not enough for awesome but 5 pts normally is OK.
Sterling. I dont like when 12M rotates. Not something I want to ever see when I spend that much.
Dilva. It’s like he is my kid and keeps getting A’s on his report card but his little brother is winning Nobel Peace prizes so noone gives a sh*t about it but me. I know he will rotate but he is 7.5M rotating. Not 12M.
Mount. Healthy is good for these upcoming fixtures.
Cantwell. Cant-bloody-well score away from home. Because he’s cheap I somehow dont care but he needs to be rotated.

☆ Forwards

Pukki. Same as Cantwell but he shouldn’t be rotated.
Tammy – also happy he’s healthy with great fixtures.
Greenwood – so cheap. So not Aguero, Auba, Vardy, etc. and probably should be.

Upcoming GW7

☆ Musical Chairs

Sterling to KDB. Ya that’s right. This blonde phenom is now a captain option. Before he wasn’t. Now that he is I think I can save 2.3M and deploy it up front to have one more captain option as a forward too. Next week I could -4 a Vardy move as is or the week after it could be an Aubameyang move instead. It needs thought. (Yes, I think Vardy will creep into captain option after gw8. He may even be this week). I made the move Sat for price change benefits.

☆ Captain

Salah with KDB vice. Tammy is tempting.

☆ Substitute decisions

Cantwell. Digne. Dunk.

Good .

Alex Ball

Alex’s last 5 seasons overall rank were 523k, 17k, 10k, 28k and 3k

GW6 points: 81 (average 52) Total points 341 Gameweek rank 158k, Overall Rank: 1.068k, green arrow 1,610k, Team Value: £102.4m

Finally a green arrow! A large amount of luck with vice captain De Bruyne and first sub Lundstram coming in but I needed it!

A bit of a risk with transfers this week; Mane goes meaning I have no Pool attack. I wouldn’t captain them until GW13 at the earliest (maybe Villa away but City have Southampton at home so highly unlikely). It’s a risk but at a million rank I’m happy to take it and then move back (probably to Salah) in GW13/GW14. Son comes in and gets the captain this week. I’ll hold for their tasty next 3.

The other free went on Haller to Tammy Abraham. I was tempted to downgrade Van Dijk and upgrade Wickham to go 343 but decided I wanted the option to play Cantwell and Lundstram. It allows allows for David Silva to Pepe next week with the cash in the bank if I fancy that.

Ben Wooton

Ben’s last 3 seasons overall rank were 61k, 26k and 31k.

GW6 points: 72 (average 52) Total points 372 Gameweek rank 583k, Overall Rank: 180k, green arrow 231k, Team Value: £101.0m

While my plan was to do something with two I have changed that and may roll second one.For now I have done Zinchenko out Otamendi in.
Primarily because Mendy is back and also to hopefully see more secure CB place / a profit
Might have dumped Van Dijk or Digne to free cash but feel Sheff Utd isn’t the game to lose the former
Would like to upgrade KingCaptain stays on Salah for now.
