FPL team tips GW9 – FFGeek contributors show their GW9 teams part 1

Here’s part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

Joseph Crilley

Joseph finished with an overall rank of 7k last season and 13k in 16/17

GW8 points: 77 (average 50) Total points 541, Gameweek rank 233k, Overall Rank: 24k, green arrow 27k, Team Value: £103.6m

GW8 review

It was a pleasing gameweek to round off before the international break for my team as I managed to cut my overall rank in half to sneak into the top 25k. The foundations for the score were set up by the defence where I had 3 clean sheets out of 4 with the best return from Ryan who picked up his first cleanie of the season ahead of a promising run of fixtures. My attackers were less efficient with only 2/7 players returning, but they were both big scores to help propel me up the ranks.

The first and more surprising one was from Wilson who picked up a goal and two assists during the thrashing of previously high-flying Watford. I had contemplated selling the striker for one of Arnie or Mitrovic but decided to hold on given the fixtures for Bournemouth in GW9 & 10 so his performance was a pleasant surprise. The other haul was more predictable as Hazard returned his 4th double figure haul in his last 5 games and I was fortunate to have the armband on him. Thanks to that, I brought home my 5th successive green arrow and sit in a pleasing position at this still early stage of the season.

GW9 Team

I didn’t make any transfers last gameweek which meant I had two to use over the international break. The first one was used early last week in order to beat a price rise as I made the sideways move of Walcott to Richarlison. This is a move that I have been wanting to make ever since the Brazilian returned from suspension and the two transfers have given me the opportunity to finally make it. I did consider Siggy, but I was hoping to leave some money in the bank as I will probably look to make the move of Wilson to Arnie/Mitro in GW11.

Looking round my team, there isn’t really much that I would like to do as I still have faith in Salah while the fixtures are strong and I’m willing to give Lucas another runout following a strong statistical performance last time out. The only move that I’m contemplating is transferring out Trippier due to the tough schedule for Spurs and the absence of Vertonghen – potential replacements are Robertson and Mendy. The former would give me a double up on the Liverpool defence ahead of matches against Huddersfield and Cardiff while I do have doubts about the City man’s relationship with Pep still. This will be a Saturday morning decision though I am tempted to keep hold of the two free transfers.

It’s a three-way battle for the armband this week with Aguero leading the way; if I believed that he would play 90 minutes, then he would definitely be my captain. However, he hasn’t played more than 65 mins since GW4 which brings Salah and Hazard into the equation. Usually, I wouldn’t place the armband on someone facing United, but the form of Hazard does make it a tempting proposition. Kun is still my captain for now as he faces the team who have conceded the most shots thus far this season so let’s hope that he can finally bring home another double-figure haul!

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

Alex Ball

Alex finished in 17k last season 10k in 16/17 28k in 15/16 and 3k in 14/15

GW8 points: 63 (average 50) Total points 541, Gameweek rank 1,185k, Overall Rank: 24k, red arrow 3k, Team Value: £103.6m

Well that could have gone better. A lot better.

Let’s just say by going Kane in last week it cost 24 points, a team that’s not looking great and Kabasele in with a -4 to rub salt into the wound! Still I stayed roughly the same rank so can’t complain too much. This week the plan was always Kane back to Kun which is the likely transfer to happen.

There is an outside move of Kane to Jimenez and Billing to Sterling which may happen at the cost of a -4. We will see.

In defence, Kabasele is the really bad call on wildcard but I still have a little hope there. The rest of the defence is fine for now. The kids are ok apart from a 4.4/4.5 combo.

It’s just whether I hold this week or move to sterling as discussed above. The forward of Lacazette and Mitro I am happy with for now. Kane to Kun/Jimenez feels nice. Lacazette has been a great option so far but I am considering moving on in a few weeks as I feel cheaper options may keep pace. Kun or Sterling will be captain this week. Good luck all and sorry it’s a little bit of a ramble, a few thoughts running round my head!

I’ll tweet my final team so if you want to see how it works out follow me on twitter

Here it is as it stands now before any transfers
