Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends. However the FFGeek team and the Contributor tracker team mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make transfers as articles are posted. So you’re always up to date and live

GW8 review

A week very like last in that I scored a near identical total with 4/11 returning players. But very unlike last in that instead of nearly halving my rank I ended up on a red arrow which is a bit more like the norm when you have less than 5 players return!

Several reasons for this. First up, I only managed to field 10 players mainly thanks to a surprise benching for Adam Armstrong – I don’t think any of us saw that coming. Then there was only Salah’s Captain haul for an attacking return my other 5 playing attackers mustering a mighty 9 points between them. I did manage 3 clean sheets in defence, but sadly there was no Livramento to bail me out off the bench like some had so alas a red arrow it was. Could have been worse though in a week where I was a player short.

GW9 Team

1 free transfer and £0.1m in the bank.

Plan A this week had been to finally admit defeat on my Threemium strategy and move Ronaldo on. But that was turned on its head on Wednesday by GW9 Captain favourite Lukaku getting injured in the Champions League. Therefore my plan shifts and although I’ll still be shifting off full Threemium, it’ll be done in a different way.

I have a look at forwards in more detail in my YouTube video this week and after analysing this, I’ve decided that I’ll be shifting to a kind of ‘soft’ Threemium with Jamie Vardy coming in for Lukaku. I’m still holding Ronaldo for the moment, but I suspect I’ll now shift him to Kane around GW11 or 12 depending on how things go. I’m going to supplement my Vardy move this week with a -4 as well and this will be to bring Toney in for the likely non-starting Armstrong. Hassenhutel didn’t fully commit his thoughts in the Thursday press conference, but there was a heavy suggestion that Broja holds the place for now though Armstrong will get his opportunity again.

The problem is that my squad is a bit too lean now and I can’t afford any passengers. I’m likely to be tight at the back for starters as I suspect one or both of Rudiger and Cancelo might not play. So I could be down to 10 again, but I’mpretty loathe to points hit in a defender – I always believe that if you are going to points hit it should be for an attacking player because of the higher ceiling. I was planning to bring in Toney next week anyway, so I’ll bring forward the move one week for -4 and I’ll probably use my GW10 transfer to then upgrade my non-playing £3.9m defender to either Livramento or a Brentford defender and thus give me better cover for Pep Roulette and Tuchel Tombola!

One thing the Lukaku injury has of course done is solve a form vs fixture Captain dilemma (especially after much debate in this week’s Pod, on social media and in our What’s App group!) The armband therefore goes onto Salah. I’ve had to make my transfers on Thursday night this week as I don’t think I’ll get the chance to login on Friday before the deadline so the team you see below is very likely my final one. Good luck and enjoy the gameweek everyone!

Transfers made. Lukaku and Armstrong to Vardy and Toney for a -4.

I’ve made the second transfer as Armstrong is now a big benching risk. I was looking at bringing in Brentford cover in GW10, and so it makes sense to move early. That’s especially so with the risk of one or more of Azpilicueta, Walker, Cancelo or Foden being benched this gameweek.

Transfer summary: Lukaku and Armstrong to Vardy and Toney for a -4.
