FPL Teams GW10 – FFGeek contributors show their teams

Here’s a reduced version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

I receive information at different times and have posted it late so it’s my fault if things look inconsistent to the posting time

A very strange week for me last time out as it was for a lot of people with Pep’s rotation causing chaos. I have Jesus and Sterling in my team which, coupled with the benching of Cresswell and Davies, meant I only had 9 outfield players starting with 2 of those facing City! Nonetheless, I managed to scrape a green arrow thanks to the heroics of Kane and Salah in the last match of the gameweek. Lukaku was my captain who picked up an assist and there were clean sheets from Cedric and Elliot but not much elsewhere.

I banked my transfer last week which I was all set on using to move Lukaku on for Aguero but the Argentinian playing 120 mins has put me off that move, especially as I will likely want the United man back in a couple of weeks. It seems futile trying to second guess Pep’s starting XI each week so I’ve decided to stick with the City assets that I currently have and concentrate on cleaning up other areas of my team.

I mentioned in my GW9 review article that I liked the idea of looking to Watford for budget options and as such I’ve decided to bring not one, but two of their players into my team. I’ve been a big fan of Richarlison since early in the season and I’m bringing him in this week which means I can finally get rid of Brady. I wanted to improve my defence a bit as well after the earlier mentioned benchings and Dawson picking up an injury which is set to rule him out for 8 weeks. I therefore decided to transfer out the West Brom defender for one of my differential picks this week, Kiko Femenia.

I’m expecting at least one of my team not to play this week so these transfers have helped bulked my squad so I should be guaranteed 11 starters. Loftus-Cheek at home to West Ham is a decent first sub if and when someone in my team doesn’t play. I’m hoping Cresswell reclaims his place otherwise he is another defender that will need transferring out soon.

The injury to Kane that was confirmed on Friday morning has presented me with a curveball that I could have done without. It took some thinking but ultimately I have decided to bring in Morata. I didn’t want to have that much money on the bench so I brought in someone that I’m happy to keep in my team long-term. If Kane is fit next week, I can transfer out any of my strikers for him.

Captain this week is an interesting one with the traditional two most popular options, Kane and Lukaku, facing off at Old Trafford. Therefore, it looks like a good week to take a bit more of a punt with the captaincy. The armband is currently on Salah who looks to have the best fixture out of my premium assets as his side welcome Huddersfield to Anfield. However, I am seriously tempted to take a leap of faith and captain my transfer in, Richarlison, who faces a Stoke side that are woefully out of form.

That will most likely be a Saturday morning decision for me but there shouldn’t be any further transfers for my team as I don’t see the need to take a hit. That’s it from me; best of luck to everyone this week and may your arrows be green!

Well that a strange gameweek! I have to confess that at 2pm on Saturday afternoon I had serious red arrows on my mind. My only player in the early game had at least banked an assist, but had also missed 2 sitters. This however was the least of my worries when the team news arrived. 2 of my starting 11 and 1 of my subs benched. Ouch. I was facing the prospect of scraping 11 players together and this was reliant on Davies starting the next day.

At 5pm however, it was a different story. My 5 players that had started their match had all returned and Jesus and King had at least come off the bench so I wasn’t facing any ‘nil pois’ non-starters in my 11. At the back, ‘The General’ Otamendi had bagged 15 points with Elliot also keeping a clean sheet. Chopo-Moting had added an assist to Richarlison’s earlier effort and captain Lukaku had steadied nerves further with a handy late assist as well. Onto Sunday, no early players so the late game started with the initial disappointment of Davies being benched, meaning that King’s 1 point would be called into action. However things picked up after both Salah scored and Kane returned handsomely.

70 points in the end, 20 above average and into the top 200k, really pleased with that. A good, if slightly fortuitous week with 7/11 returns and my transfer carried. My main concerns now are my non-starters and Pep’s ongoing rotation plans. Let’s get on to that.

GW10

So I’ve got 3 options this week as far as I see it.

1) Use my 2 FTs to rotate my premium strikers to get the best fixture options. This would mean I’d sell Lukaku and Jesus and buy Morata and Aguero.
2) Tidy up my game-time risk defenders to ensure I’ve definitely got 11 starters this week. Davies and Wimmer would go, though I’m not sure who I’ll bring in yet. Kiko, Jones, Duffy and even (gulp) Moreno are all considerations here. (Am I truly considering the latter?!)
3) A bit of both – sell a striker for Morata and change Wimmer or Davies for a £4.5m defender. Another option here is sell Davies for a cheaper defender and change Sterling for Sane.

At the moment I’m undecided. One complicating factor is of course Pep Guardiola. I suspect there were many FPL managers cringing at the Carabao Cup teamsheet this week and even more so at 1030pm after the game was finally decided on penalties. The problem? Aguero and Sterling’s 120 minutes and to a lesser extent Jesus’ 85 minutes. So where does this leave us this week?

In terms of gametime, David Silva and De Bruyne are probably secure. Sane probably is as well after coming off the bench. That leaves 4 into 2 – Aguero, Jesus, Sterling and Bernando Silva are fighting over these 2 positions. Looking forward, it’s Napoli away in the UCL next midweek. Aguero surely has to play in that so will Pep risk him starting this weekend or will he manage his minutes? Who knows. I guess it will depend on which jumper he wears on Saturday morning or whether the wind at The Hawthorns is coming from the west or the east. Based on this, I’m probably leaning towards option 2 but I’ll see if the Friday press conferences shed any light. Wishful thinking I know.

Of course all this was well and good until Issue number 2 that has arose on Friday; Kane being injured. Huge dilemma whether to hold in the hope he’ll be fit for Palace next week or transfer out knowing that he’s definitely scoring 0 this week. At the moment I’m leaning towards selling Kane for Morata and Davies for a £4.5m. This would then allow me to buy Kane back for Jesus or Lukaku next week ready for the Palace game if he’s fit. I’m not 100% sure yet though and will likely procrastinate well into Friday evening!

For team selection: At the moment it looks pretty straightforward. 3-4-3, just a choice between Simpson and whichever other defenders I have depending on my transfers. Salah, Sterling, Richarlison and Choupo-Moting in midfield. Then my 3 strikers.

Onto captain choice. This looks a great week for a Sword captain to me. Man United vs Spurs doesn’t scream a big return from Lukaku, though it could go either way. From the outside it looks like it will be a tight cagey affair, but it may suit Spurs’ success on the counter-attack, although admittedly this is blunted a little by Kane’s absence. Or we might get an early goal that opens things up. I’m steering clear of City again this week. A captain has to be game time secure or you risk a 1 point cameo a la Jesus last week. If I buy Morata then he looks a good option, but there’s also gametime questions regarding him after the Watford game. So I’m looking at the rest of my midfield here and the form players are Salah and Richarlison. Both have nice fixtures and good consistent form so look tempting captain options to me.

So basically this has probably left more questions than answers and I’m sure it will be the same for many of us this week. I’ll post my team on Friday night on Twitter with the FFG handle when I’ve made up my mind. Sorry if that’s a bit vague!

A week of 50/50 calls all went the wrong way last week leading to an average week of 51; Hart over Elliott, Lukaku capo over Kane, Stones over Otomendi on wildcard. Thats FPL though so onwards.

Im still not 100% on transfers hence the screenshot being of my transfer screen rather than a finalised team. But its likely to be Hazard and Lukaku to Sanchez and Morata using both my free transfers. Sanchez will go to Salah next week. This is a risky transfer policy I don’t usually subscribe to but having a 3.4% owned Sanchez as captain at home to a Swansea’s team who are depleted in defence is just too tempting for me!! I could also hold Lukaku and sell Davies to a 4.4 defender to fund but really want to hold a Chelsea attacker.

In goal Elliott will get the nod, West Ham look out of sorts at present. I’ll be holding Hart and hoping for a change of manager that may tighten them up.

In defence I currently have Kiko, Ward and Stones. If I keep Davies, he may start ahead of Kiko as Kiko faces Choupo-Moting who is in my team.

In midfield, new boy Sanchez will get the captains armband. He is joined by VC Ricarlison against a poor Stoke defence. C-M stats look good for a goal.Hopefully Sterling starts but with Pep, who knows? The missing link in my midfield is Salah and I was tempted by him over Sanchez.

Up front Lukaku has left by the back exit for Morata, a hopefully fit Kane will be alongside Vardy who is in his last week if he doesn’t score against Everton!

Good luck everyone.

I made an early transfer to bring in Morata before his price rise.
I dropped Lukaku for Morata, who looked like he was about to drop in price. He hasn’t dropped yet, and it doesn’t seems like he is.

That got me £1.5 ITB and with the Kane and Coutinho news I decided to bring in Groß for Andy King for a hit and sit Kane and Coutinho on the bench.

Captaincy is really tough this week. I decided to put it on Morata with Silva VC.

Given the disaster of Sterling not playing last week and Jesus only having a cameo, I feel my score of 73 was very lucky indeed. Monreal and Otamendi both scored and Cedric came home with a cleansheet. Kane rocked the house for 16 points as well. However it could have been better, I hope everyone took my advice last week and captained Kane, because I chickened out at the last minute and captained Lukaku. I also played Fabianski instead of Elliot who had a cleansheet and a bonus point, and Surman scored again without me playing him. I have had six green arrows in a row so I count myself very lucky as you must be to move up.

The big conundrum this week, up until the announcement of the Kane injury, was what to do with my Man City attackers. In a big surprise move, Sterling, Aguero and Jesus played big minutes in EFL on Tuesday bur Aguero and Sterling played all 120 minutes, Jesus only about 90. Sane played 27 minutes, Silva did not play. Accordingly, I have decided that Jesus will more than likely start this weekend against WBA . I also think that both Sane and Silva will start and Sterling may start but will have a short outing. I have also decided that the City forwards, at 11.5 and 10,7, are simply too expensive to carry as rotation risks after this week. Because too I think Sane is a better goal scorer in the long run than Silva or Sterling and therefore will score more points, I am going to replace Sterling with Sane this week. To get the .6 I need to get Sane in over Sterling, I will bid a temporary goodbye to Harry Kane and draft Morata into my team.. Next week when I want to swap out Monreal, whose fixtures get very tough, for a Spurs defender who play at Palace as well as bring in Kane, I will probably downgrade Choupo-Moting to a 4.5 mid such as Tom Carroll. Given Bournemouth’s and Swansea’s good fixtures after this week, I will play mostly Surman and Carroll with Stephens of BHA in reserve as my third mid.

So this week my defenders are Monreal, Jones (decided to play him with Kane out), Otamendi, Ward and Cedric. Mids and Sane and Salah. Forwards are Morata, Lukaku and Jesus. Elliot in goal.

For a captain choice in GW10, I intend to watch the polls carefully and go with either Morata or Sane. My captain choices this year have all been “following the herd” and generally unsuccessful after riding Lukaku the first few weeks. I am leaning to Sane because Man City walloped WBA in this fixture last year 4-0 and I think they will come out firing after being blanked by Wolves midweek. But since adding Morata I may decide on him.

Good luck to all FFG disciples.

Ok guys so I used my wildcard before last game week and unfortunately I lost track of time to post my team, so here is my team and the changes I made.

I brought in Elliott in for foster, As Elliott is .4m cheaper and foster missed gameweek 8 I was skeptical…

With my defence I brought in Jones for bailly and then stones for mbemba with money I had left in the bank I felt I needed to upgrade my defence!

My midfield has really let me down this year and I wanted that to be my game changer going forward, so I took out Ramsey and brought in sterling and just switch stokes midfield with taking out shaqiri for choupo-mating.

Finally with my attack, Chicharito has been a let down for me but with there good fixtures going forward I’m sticking with him for now, my change up front was Jesus for Morata, city’s rotation is to risky to have Jesus and Morata is Chelsea’s main man when fit.

My captain this week is Lukaku for now but think of changing to Morata, tough week for captain choice as I was picking couthino but he has all but going to miss the Huddersfield game.

Anyway thanks for reading everyone and good luck.
