Introduction

This is part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

This article was written before Sundays GW15 games

Rick Porter

Rick’s last 4 seasons overall ranks were 29k, 1k, 30k and 2k.

GW15 points so far: 32 (FPL average 23) Total points: 937, Overall Rank: 36k, green arrow:  3k Team Value: £104.4m

It’s too early to say whether I’ve had a good week or not, but at least Chilwell recovered. He didn’t return, and I probably should have benched him, but the fact he played a full match means I can keep him for the double rather than wasting a transfer.

Free Hit and Bench Boost

The aim is to Free Hit in GW18 and, assuming there are no surprises, I can have the team in this position for a Bench Boost in GW19 using just my remaining FTs.

fpl teams GW16

This would give me 12 double players with only Kane, Son and Grealish playing once.

Transfer

Assuming he makes it through the match tonight without injury, I’ll be using one of my two FTs to drop De Bruyne for Son this evening. At 62% ownership he poses far more of a threat over the coming weeks and I need the money saved to complete my DGW19 prep.

Even though I know the moves I want to make, I’ll probably roll my second transfer to keep my options as open as possible. I may move earlier if it looks like a price change means I’ll needlessly be losing team value.

Captain

There are a couple of good options for captaincy but I’ll likely either go for Bruno or Salah depending on how Salah performs against West Brom.

transfer summary:  De Bruyne out and Son in

Here’s what the team will look like after that change.

Stephen Troop

Stephen’s last 4 seasons overall rank were 86k, 43k, 52k and 64k

GW15 so far points: 38 (FPL average 23) Total points: 925, Overall Rank: 65k, green arrow:  28k Team Value: £104.1m

I’m either holding or doing De Bruyne/Calvert Lewin to Son/Vardy for a -4. Captain Salah. Vardy has the double but I’m concerned whether he plays tomorrow, and Calvert Lewin out is a risk given ownership. Still undecided on bench as defensively the fixtures are decent all round.

Plan is FH in 18 and BB in 19. If I do the -4 above it’ll only really give me the reserve GK to deal with for the BB (son only single GW player).

transfer summary:  to be confirmed

Kris O

Kris’s last 4 seasons overall rank were 39k, 44k, 46k and 23k

I’m writing this on Saturday evening, buoyed by a reasonable FPL points haul (38) and an excellent Arsenal win at Chelsea. Gw16 is fast approaching and my transfers will significantly influence whether I bench boost or triple captain in gameweek 19. I will be playing my free hit in gamweek 18.

I’d initially planned to bench boost in gw19, but the news of Chilwell (now known to be false) injury drew an unplanned transfer to Coufal. I now need to take a hit to field 15, though will likely take the hit this week regardless of plans for gw19. However, it acts as a reminder that I can’t afford any more injuries/suspension/droppings without taking further hits; and this is more likely given the volume of games in a short space of time. On that basis I am also considering routes that take me to triple captain and avoid the ‘hassle’ of fifteen players.

In terms of transfers this week:

I plan to sell KDB and DCL – neither have a double in gw19 and both have a poor run of fixtures. DCL also likely rested in gw16 (which ruled out the potential of just selling KDB). I had considered shipping Grealish given his poor fixtures, however: (i) he can score against anyone; (ii) is cheap (compared to KDB); (iii) has two games to be rearranged (iv) and although he now has a possible suspension hanging over his head for five yellows I understand, (please check before acting on this!) that would only be gw17 if he gets booked this week.

I will bring in one or both of Son and Kane; who have good upcoming fixtures against Fulham (who are improved) gw16, Leeds gw17 and Sheffield United gw19.
To continue with a bench boost plan I need to replace Mitchell and Forster with my free transfers in gw17 and gw19. Therefore any transfers this week that leave me with insufficient funds to upgrade will lead me to a triple captain in gw19 (unless something unexpected happens e.g. Forster getting the number one spot at Southampton)

The options I’m considering:

Son and Kane. Leaves 0m itb, so TC in gw19. If I did this I’d likely switch Kane to Vardy in gw19 (Leicester have a double in 19).
Son and Vardy. Leaves 0.9m itb, which is very tight to BB in gw19. I would need 0.5 to switch Forster to Johnstone (likely risen by then) or Areola. Leaving Mitchell to a 4.3m defender, no obvious option with a double exists unless Diop gets back into the West Ham team.

Son and Firmino/Marital. Leaves 1.7/2.3 itb, enough to continue with a BB in gw19. Both Firmino and Martial have doubles in 19. Martial may potentially have a double in gw17 (vs Burnley) too, though he is inconsistent and has threat to his place from Cavani. Firmino is playing well, but may get rested and/or dropped for Jota when he’s back.

Son and Antonio/Wood (both 6.2). Leaves 4.8m itb, enough to switch Mitchell to TAA ready for the BB in gw19 and plenty left for my second keeper. If I knew Antonio would definitely be fit this would be a hot favourite. Wood under consideration due to potential double in gw17 alongside the double in gw19, though I’m not sold on the Burnley attack.

Rashford and Kane. Leaves 0.2m itb, so TC in gw19. I like Rashford for form and potential extra double in gw17. For this option I could save my gw19 transfer and have two frees in gw20.
Maddison and Kane. Leaves 2.6m, so plenty to continue with BB – enough for Mitchell up to a 6m defender. I like the Leicester gw16 (cry) and gw17 (new) fixtures and although I realise it’s a gamble he does seem to get 90 minutes most weeks. I had thought about other midfield options, mainly from Chelsea but the form (see Arsenal win at start!); rotation and upcoming fixtures (AVL, MCY) put me off.

Writing this down now the four I’m considering the most are:

(6) Maddison and Kane

(4) Son and Antonio

(2) Son and Vardy

(5) Rashford and Kane

I’m hoping that Sunday’s matches help to narrow down my options.

Line up: KWP and Coufal play each other; I’ve chosen KWP as the home player.

Captain: Salah and vice either Son or Kane.

With such a short turnaround between the games just a quick post this week

I am still sticking to my planned transfers for a full 15 DGW players as follows

fpl teams GW16

This week will see me take Martinez and Grealish out for Fabianski and Harrison of Leeds. I will hold out until the games are played to see if any injuries occur

transfer summary:  Likely Martinez and Grealish out.  Fabianski and Harrison in
