FPL TEAMS GW17 – FFGEEK CONTRIBUTORS SHOW THEIR TEAMS

Here’s a version of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont covering early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

There’s also the early FFGeek team thoughts article if you’re interested in my team and how the teams of 10 top FPL managers I follow are currently set up

GW16 Review

An ok week that could have been even better. On Saturday night, despite only 2 returns I was sitting at 139k. I’d gone for Kane as my captain and it was a good call. My other return was from Ward who added 2 bonus points to his clean sheet.

I only had Salah and Sterling on Sunday. Salah’s goal was always going to hurt OR with him not being my captain and Sterling blanked. The most annoying thing though was benching Otamendi’s 11 points. These would have put me comfortably in the top 200k. Frustrating!

In the end, if at the start of the GW someone had offered my an 18k rise with only 3 playing returns and a -4 hit, I’d have certainly taken it. It just goes to show how getting your captain pick right can make all the difference!

One final positive was qualifying for the cup for the first time in 3 seasons would you believe! Hopefully I’ll last more than my usual 1 round.

Gw17 preview

1 transfer this week – Callum Wilson has been dropped and Bournemouth have 3 horrible fixtures coming up starting at Old Trafford. He has to go with Calvert-Lewin coming in. Thus gives me another £0.7m in the bank for next week, which I’ll probably use to buy a Man Utd defender.

Couple of dilemmas for team selection. Kenny or Simpson in defence first of all, its Kenny getting the nod at the moment. Next up captain pick and I’m another one of those Harry Kane all-night slot machine addicts, and I’m not stopping for breakfast either! Salah is the other stand-out option – both could easily get double figures.

It’s Kane for me though – Brighton have looked pretty leaky in their last 2 games and I expect Spurs to pick up where they left off on Saturday.

Best of luck for this week folks – Let those arrows be green!

GW16 Summary

It was a very similar story to the week before; another small green arrow which was salvaged by an Otamendi goal in the late Sunday game after a poor captaincy choice. I made the error of going with Hazard instead of sticking with Kane which resulted in another captaincy blank. Since GW7, I have had one goal, two assists and a penalty miss from my captain which highlights my struggles with the armband. Elsewhere, Mee and Kiko missed out which was frustrating and rather unexpected, but at least there was a clean sheet from Fabianski. I’m now just outside the top 50k and hoping to continue my solid recent run into Christmas.

GW17 Team

During the last midweek gameweek, we saw lots of rotation so I was looking to bulk up my squad, especially after hearing what some managers have said in their press conferences on Monday. Kiko & Mee are still doubts and Conte spoke a lot about rotation so my bench could well be needed.

I wanted to rectify the mistake that I made of choosing Niasse over Calvert-Lewin, with the latter looking like he’s sealed his place in the team, and preferably before the difference in price became too large. I required funds to do this and Daniels is the obvious player to sell looking at the next three fixtures. I had 4.7mil to spend and I’ve decided to go for Kenny at Everton which leaves me some cash in the bank. Listening to Allardyce’s post-match interview, it’s clear that he is prioritising the defence to help his side pick up points and he’s spoken some good words about Kenny recently.

The transfers make it a little tricky in deciding who to bench but with injury doubts and rotation, I consider this a good thing. I will definitely be benching Kiko and he is joined by Loftus-Cheek and Kenny currently but this could easily change. I’m also starting Elliot in the hope that he’s recalled as his fixture looks much better than Fabianski’s who faces City. Swansea have some poor fixtures coming up so I may look to use the extra cash from my transfers to swap him out next week, possibly for Pickford.

After being hurt by a Hazard benching in GW14 and Conte’s words in his press conference, I won’t be risking the armband on him this week. Klopp’s benching of his Brazilian duo on the weekend has me worried about Salah as well so I will be reverting back to Kane who will surely start. Brighton have been struggling lately, conceding 7 goals in their last two games, so hopefully I can finally get a decent captain return!

Looking Ahead

My attack does look extremely template now but I don’t see that as a bad thing because the template is there for a reason. Captaincy and defence will be required to help boost my ranking as seen with the recent goals from Otamendi. I only have two players that I’m not completely happy with; the aforementioned Fabianski and Kolasinac who’s away form is far too poor for a 6.1mil defender. I am looking to move Fabianksi next week and may take out the Arsenal man the week after for Christensen.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend and may your arrows be green!

A bit of a meh week. a small green arrow but I seem to be going through a one step forward and two steps back with my overall rank at the minute. Not to worry, 68k before Christmas is fine and a good platform to build on.

Im happy with my team and plan to go more towards more of a traditional 3-4-3 over the next couple of weeks. Transfers this week was to tidy up the defence; Otamendi and Kenny in for Mustafi and Daniels.

The lineup this week will include RLC as I have a hunch Benteke may be dropped after the penalty debacle and this will hopefully push RLC forward. Kane captain as the shield pick this week as he looks to be the poll leaders. The sub order may change a little but everything else should remain the same. I’m not expecting a good week as I think rotation will hit hard and some big players may be rested (im looking at you Richarlison and Morata!) due to managers comments. I hope i’m wrong but be prepared with a good bench.

Sorry the write up is short, my daughter has just woken so back to daddy-daycare! All the best for your weeks and I hope green arrows for all.

Took a hit to get rid of Daniels, who have a very bad run of fixtures and Mustafi, who won’t be available on Wednesday and remains a doubt for the weekend.

I bought Kabasele, who had a couple of goals and for assurance of start.
Otamendi is getting attacking returns and possible cleansheets.

Transfer out: Mustafi, Daniels
Transfer in: Kabasele, Otamendi

Kane (C), Salah (VC)
