Introduction

This is part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

 Costas Chari

Costas’s last 4 seasons overall ranks were 17k, 84k, 29k and 27k

GW1 points: 73 (FPL average 50) Total points 73, Overall Rank: 638k, Team Value: £100.0m

Not a bad start to the season especially if you take in consideration that i got all the 50-50s wrong.

I left Justin on the bench for Walker Peters and captained Aubameyang instead of Salah. These 2 decisions cost me 21 points that would have taken me close to top 50k.

My differentials in Calvert Lewin and Digne thankfully delivered but spurs assets Alli and Lloris were disappointments. One of the 2 pair was always going to go well and the other bad so I’m looking forward. I will have to monitor the status of Alli and see what is going on there. Robertson scoring more points than Alexander Arnold was also a plus in this week.

I am not getting carried away with the Salah 3 goals (2 pens) and I have transferred him out for Rashford. Salah has a tough schedule, once fixtures are better i’ll probably get him in again.

Captain this week will be Aubameyang again, VC on Rashford.

Good luck

Transfer summary:  Salah out for Rashford

Kev in Canada

Kev finished 48k last season 6k in 18/19 and 195k in 17/18

GW1

Worst GW1 start I have ever had.
-no Salah
-no 5 or 4.5 defender rescued me with a 10+ return
-no goal outside of my Aubameyang goal and only one assist
-Saliba wasn’t on the team sheet
-Son and Havertz (my non Salah reasoning players) did nothing

Keeping a cool head right now is the next step to have any shot at a path to glory.

Long story short, my Salah replacement players blanked while Salah scored big and I got unlucky with the entire rest of the team.

Getting down about it would be too easy.

If you are in a similar situation to me, try to remember that the best thing about a terrible GW1 is you have a better chance at green arrows each week for the next little while. Also, you start the season humbled. If I had a lucky high score it might get to my head and get the best of me.

The Plan for GW2 and GW3

-My preseason plan has not changed. Son to Bruno happened Saturday to ensure it and no other planned changes this week. I now have a strong bench and a much stronger starting 11 as Martial and Taylor have finished their blanks.

-I am hoping that double up on Man United gives me an edge and I can outscore the Salah teams this week to claw me back to even. The call that is that Bruno can equal Mo over a season for 1.5M less.

-GW3 I will be selling Aubameyang like the rest of the world. Either to De Bruyne or to a player like Foden/Greenwood to upgrade Adams to Aguero for a -4 (sticking to the plan that £10.5m assets Aguero and Bruno can equal the £12m £11.5m assets production).

Captain: I am toying with the idea of a Bruno/Martial armband for a triple up but likely Aubameyang.

Transfer: Saturday I swapped Son to Martial.

If there is an injury to..
Werner: -4 DCL
4.5 defender: -4 Lamptey or maybe just leave it
8.5 or lower midfielder: -4 to Foden

Transfer summary:  Son to Martial

Andrew Pratt

Andrew finished with an overall rank of 313k last 8k in 18/19 and 1k in 17/18

GW1 points: 70 (FPL average 50) Total points 70, Overall Rank: 844k, Team Value: £100.0m

I had a good opening weekend with 70 points despite captaining Aubameyang over Salah. I’m glad that I dismissed thoughts of going without Salah and I benefited by avoiding Spurs and the Southampton double defence. Liverpool’s defence was a bit worrying but not enough to ditch Robertson just yet. I expected to be impressed with Sheffield United defence but they were a bit sketchy. Leicester’s Barnes looked very dangerous and will stay on my watchlist. If Mitrovic doesn’t start in gameweek 2 he will join Stephens and Antonio in the departures lounge.

Although I had hoped to hold the transfer this week, I was unhappy enough with the deep position adopted by Havertz to ‘knee-jerk’ him out for James Rodriguez before price changes. Rodriguez looked good for more points in gameweek 1 and Everton should do well against West Brom. Werner looked very dangerous and I’ll gamble on him being fine for Liverpool and that Fernandes doesn’t punish me for my delay in getting him in.

My gameweek 2 team should not change much from the team below. I might get cheeky and field Nyland in case he gets the start

Captain and vice will be between Aubameyang and Salah.

I will look to move Aubameyang out before gameweek 3 for the likes of Fernandes or de Bruyne, who I will monitor this gameweek. The Aubameyang transfer and this week’s 1.0mil transfer windfall will help fund the upgrading of Antonio to Martial / Aguero / Jimenez, etc. in later gameweeks.

Alex Ball

Alex’s last 6 seasons overall rank were 312k, 523k, 17k, 10k, 28k and 3k

A pleasing 72 points which was all about the captain. As always a few that got away- Siass and Justin were in till the last minute so that’s frustrating. Still I’m pretty happy with the team set up and leaving 2 mil itb has allowed me to move Alli to Rashford.

Players I’m not happy with- pretty much all my defence! I literally think all the options I was considering scored better! I was very impressed by Siass and I’m eyeing him in after city.
Alli- he’s gone.
Saint Maximin – runs a lot but didn’t look dangerous.

Players I’m happy with- Calvert Lewin, Everton looked great!
Adams- looked lively and plenty of minutes.
Salah, AubaMEYANG, Werner- happy with all the premiums. Salah has caused a pleasant headache as I was going to sell but he looked electric and passed the eye test with flying colours. Aubameyang goes to De Bruyne/Sterling next week.

Rashford is a bit of a punt but I’m happy about his 3.4% ownership!

Captain is Aubameyamg.

Good luck all.
