Introduction

This is part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

Rick Porter

Rick’s last 4 seasons overall ranks were 29k, 1k, 30k and 2k.

GW33 points: 63 -4 (FPL average 36) Total points: 2,219, Overall Rank: 1k, green arrow 1k,  Team Value: £105.1m

Bringing in Iheanacho and Castagne for a -4 worked out well in the end. Turns out I could have saved the -4 for Castagne and played Dallas for essentially the same points, but having a player on the bench felt necessary at the time and my team is looking stronger for the extra move. Plus I’d have needed to have taken the -4 this week anyway in the likely case of me wanting to get Kane back, as I’d need to free up the extra cash to allow for the value I lost.

Speaking of Kane…

Not swapping in Iheanacho for Kane would have really hurt my rank, so it was definitely the right move. However, I’m now without the Spurs striker who could well be fit and a very popular captain choice against Sheffield. I always said that he’d come straight back in if he recovered in time, but it doesn’t have to be for Iheanacho. Any of my forwards could be sacrificed, I just need confirmation that he’s good to play and then pick who goes…

Transfer

As both Watkins and Iheanacho could have a double coming up, it makes sense to move Bamford on. He has a big ownership on paper, but a lot of those owners gave up long ago and around my rank he’s less of a threat. Besides, delivering just 2 goals over the last 10 weeks is hardly scintillating form. I have £5.7m in the bank so the transfer is feasible.

I can always bring him back in once Watkins is done with the doubles and his fixtures get difficult. If it turns out Kane isn’t able to play then I’ll roll the transfer so I can react better to DGW35 news.

Captain

Kane if I bring him in. Otherwise Son.

Transfer summary: Likely Bamford for Kane if Kane is fit

Here’s the likely team. Assume Bamford is Kane.

Kris O

Kris’s last 4 seasons overall rank were 39k, 44k, 46k and 23k

GW33 Points:  64   (FPL average 36) Total points: 2,159, Overall Rank: 15k, green arrow 7k: Team Value: £105.9m

Kris has used all his Chips

A decent GW33 with my Castagne transfer helping boost my rank.

I go into GW34 with 0.3m itb and one transfer.

Unless there is bad injury news I plan to roll the transfer. I’m not overly happy about triple Liverpool vs a Manchester United team who’ve been involved with a lot of low scoring games against the big teams – I’m hoping the tired legs from Thursday opens the game up. It feels strange having no Man City who play Palace. Captain will be Kane unless any doubt over fitness and I’ll probably risk vice on Son, as unlikely the game will be cancelled (famous last words!).

Good luck all!

Gameweek 33 summary:

Well plenty of talking points in an eventful week. A Leno howler upset all those on the Arsenal clean sheet, Liverpool conceded their clean sheet in the 93rd minute until VAR saved them but then conceded again anyway in the 95th, a Chris Wood hat trick in a Wolves horror story, Leeds and Man Utd was 0-0 in contrast to their earlier 6-2, and Nacho man scored a wonder goal to wrap the week up !!

So the popular captains Salah and Iheanacho both returned good points, in contrast to Bruno who has just a solitary assist in five games. Agony for Trent owners and for those making the Kane to Vardy move after he spurned a host of great chances. It’s six games without a clean sheet for Martinez !!

My GW33 score and rank:

Just four returners, Salah (C), Iheanacho, Rudiger and Shaw, in a score of 57-4 ( 53 ). I had 12 starters but benched the Dallas clean sheet.

A very welcome green arrow, up from 25k to 24k, which steadies the ship after three successive reds. It’s been a tough couple of weeks, which was perhaps inevitable coming up against the raft of wildcards in GW31, and then triple captains in GW32.

It had been a sea of green for a long time which had me on the cusp of the top 10k. Time to kick on now and get inside the top 20k with five big weeks to go and see where that can take me.

My GW33 talking points:

I will take the 18 points from captain Mo. But that first half v Newcastle could easily have yielded two goals and two assists for both Salah and Jota. That would have blown the gameweek out of the water with 42 points for Salah and 20 for Jota. I can’t believe how Liverpool missed those gilt edged chances.

We are running out of superlatives for Iheanacho who is the epitome of an in form confident striker. Fixtures are irrelevant when strikers hit these patches. His high ownership meant his returns were neutral for me due the armbands on him. What was far more relevant was the popular Vardy, who contrived to let me off the hook with big misses. Perhaps the epitome of an out of form striker after 2 goals in 19 games.

The “8 pointers” from Shaw and Rudiger were priceless. Shaw continues to look a threat in an attacking role. He must be due a monster haul. Chelsea seem to have recovered from that 2-5 v WBA. 10 clean sheets in the last 14 is impressive.

I brought Conor Coady in to my defence for Stones and he conceded four to Burnley who played like Brazil !! That was to fund a move from Raphinha to Jota who blanked too. I have needed a few hits to align my team to the post wildcard template, but my hits over the last three weeks have actually gained me good positive net points and got me Salah, Lingard, Iheanacho, Jota and Rudiger. I am in much better shape now.

As always, your week is defined not only by your own players, bit the popular ones you don’t have. My three biggest rank threats were Trent, Vardy and Watkins and I know how fortunate I was there from all three !!

So what next:

I have zero in the bank and one free transfer. After an uncharacteristic but necessary run of three points hits, I am very likely to roll the transfer this week.

That means I have maximum flexibility for the likely but not yet confirmed fixture changes to accommodate fans attending the last two games, which will involve a complex shuffling of gameweeks. We are expecting EIGHT teams to double in GW35 and FOUR teams to blank in GW36. I want two frees up my sleeve to tackle that.

I have four likely “blankers”in GW36 so I have to be careful not to over commit to Man Utd, Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal. Plenty will be caught out. But those teams do double in GW35 of course. Focus is on Villa, Everton, Southampton and Palace who likely double in GW35 but still play GW36. That might mean Watkins and Calvert Lewin being on my radar, as well as defenders from those teams. My keeper Martinez will get the double so no point bringing in another.

I now have my dream front seven in place. My gaping hole is Trent who I can’t get near without sacrificing one of that midfield five. Maybe an injury to one of them might provide that route in. Castagne is another defender I would like. He is playing an attacking role and looks a massive threat. I am uncomfortable not owning him or Trent. I could look to sacrifice my third striker if a 352 is where I am most weeks. That frees up cash to get Castagne.

It will be interesting to see if those switching Kane to Vardy will go back to Kane for Sheff Utd at home next. Vardy has a likely double though in GW35. Kane looked as though he had been rushed back too soon for the EFL final. It’s not inconceivable that he is rested v Sheff Utd. One to watch very closely.

My GW34 team:

With Fernandes, Salah and Jota squaring up to each other for Man Utd v Liverpool, the stand out fixture is Spurs v Sheff Utd, so all eyes on Kane’s fitness with him or Son my likely captain, though who would bet against Nacho man at Southampton continuing his hot streak.

That five man midfield means Bamford getting pushed to the bench. So decisions to be made whether to start him or Jota.

In defence, I was on Coady v WestBrom but after that Burnley performance, I am more inclined to take the attacking threat of Dallas.

Transfer summary:

Likely to roll the transfer

Captain currently on Kane

Good luck everyone !!

Scott Taylor

Scott finished with an overall rank of 15k last season, 1k 18/19 and 12k in 17/18

GW33 points:  58  (FPL average 36) Total points: 2,153, Overall Rank: 18k, green arrow 3k,  Team Value: £107.0m

Scott has used all his chips

The obvious hole in my team this week is Kane sized. I have no way of getting him back without at least a -4 which I don’t want to do. My Kane to Vardy transfer last week needs to be assessed over 3 game weeks (likely 4 games for Vardy and 2 for Kane). So it’s a case of just taking the pain if Kane returns and hoping that Son returns too (I’ll likely captain Son).

There are no other obvious transfers to make. So I’ll roll my transfer to have maximum flexibility for the probable double game week 35 and blank game week 36.

Some difficult decisions to make with the line up this week. Jota is first sub as I have enough Liverpool representation in Salah and Trent. Lindelof may come in given Man Utd’s propensity for a 0-0 against the big teams this season but it’s difficult to decide who for – perhaps Holding especially if Wilson is back for Newcastle.

As above, captain will likely be Son. Vice on Lingard at the moment.

Enjoy the game week everyone.

Well the torture of this season is finally coming towards an end! This season has been very frustrating for me, most of it was like running on the spot as there was a time I had no real rank change for more than 10 gwks or its been like a step forward followed by two steps back. Hardly any punt has worked out and everytime I played against the template it ended up in a train wreck.

Just two returning players this week and a 22k red arrow! I have 2 free transfers. I am bringing in Son for Bruno Fernandes and Reguilon for Fofana. This is done as I am using my FH in GW35 and so have to get rid of some players. This is again a risk as Spurs and Liverpool who are template have a good fixture in gw35 and most teams have Bruno and double Leicester so will be Free Hitting GW36 if they still have the Chip. I am going against the stream and hoping for the best.

Transfers this week are a bit boring and expected but the ones planned from GW36 onwards and the Free Hit in GW35 have some surprises

Lineup! it will be either Coady or Jota. Currently on Jota as Liverpool have to go for it and Man U have a Thursday game

transfer summary: Son in for Bruno Fernandes out and Reguilon in for Fofana out.
