Introduction

This is part 1 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

Next is Gameweek 36 which is a blank with Manchester United, Leicester, Arsenal and Chelsea missing out. I had only 9 starters for this gameweek, one free transfer and 0.1m in the bank.

After this blank gameweek, Leicester has difficult fixtures until the end of the season so for me Iheanacho was the logical transfer out to make way for a forward with better prospects. I considered Wood (if only I’d brought him in going into GW31 as I’d planned), Antonio, Calvert-Lewin (my coin toss decision a while back to go instead with Richarlison has also cost me) and Bamford. I went for Bamford over Antonio mainly down to injury concerns. Calvert-Lewin would’ve been preferred but I’d need to dismantle my team further to fund that move.

Rudiger was my second choice transfer out but none of the defenders in the 4.5m price point jumped out as worthy of taking a hit for. So instead I transferred out Shaw, one of my stalwarts since GW18, to fund Everton’s Godfrey, who I’m hoping will pay back my faith immediately against low-scoring Sheffield United. I wouldn’t be totally surprised if Telles got some of Shaw’s premier league minutes in the last two games so losing him is unfortunate but hopefully productive. I’m hoping my triple Everton assets have a field day and that Gundogan gets a start against Newcastle. I’ll hope that going early to beat price rises won’t come back to bite me.

transfer summary: Iheanacho out and Bamford in. Shaw out and Godfrey in

I am 0.1 short of Iheanacho to Antonio so I am thinking I might take a hit to remove either Maguire or Castagne for Dallas. If Maguire is a doubt for Europa then I’d imagine he won’t be risked in GW 37 even if he’s fit so he would be the priority transfer out. If I don’t want to take the hit it will be either Bamford for Iheanacho for free (unless I am priced out) or Maguire/Castagne to Dallas for free.

So to sum it up:

Iheanacho -> Antonio/Bamford and/or Maguire/Castagne to Dallas. If I take the hit I will have 12 players so it will be a choice between Veltman and Vydra for the starting spot. It might be an easy decision if Veltman is still injured. Captain will be Salah.

Transfer summary: Iheanacho -> Antonio/Bamford and/or Maguire/Castagne to Dallas.

GW35 review so far

Current week doing okay and got a nice 97 so far.

I did make two last minute moves last week. Despite some reservations I have done my FT already.

I did two moves last week for a – 4 Digne and Ward-Prowse in for Coufal and Lingard. Mainly as I saw more potential with two games, particularly with Digne. That’s netted me 8 vs 3 so far plus the game each has to play.

I avoided more Man U options as I couldn’t afford to be light going into GW36.

GW36

Even as things stand I will have 10 potential players, my free transfer was Calvert-Lewin for Vardy who has no game and hasn’t really impressed anyway.

GK I have Forster who I don’t expect to play, but feel I should play him over Sanchez just in case he does.

At the back I have Alexander Arnold (vc) vs WBA and Everton pair vs Sheffield Utd. I do have potential to move Castagne on and I may well take a hit to field a full 11. Dallas would likely be the one for me,
Obviously a bit dull but we know he will play and I don’t want to shuffle at the back anymore this season and feel alot of other options like Rudiger have game time risks. Plus I always feel clean sheets are a bit lacking end of season.

Midfield wise Salah leads as my captain with Jota, Ward Prowse and Son all looking reasonable options as well.

Up top I have Calvert-Lewin with Vydra who will go next week for sure, but not able to justify a hit this week. At least he started although only lasted 67 minutes vs Fulham.

Ideally with money to burn I’d like Antonio in for Vydra as he’s got some reasonable games due, Wilson would have been an option with Newcastle’s last few games but he’s out with a hamstring injury.

Good luck.

Transfer summary: Vardy out and Calvert Lewin in. Possibly Castagne out and Dallas in

Writing this on Tuesday morning when all teams have played once, all the extra midweek games to come, so everything could still turn. It is not looking like a great week for me though, currently as I write this on 53 points (-4) for a significant red arrow. Captain Bruno Fernandes was standard, while none of my differentials returned. If I could get out of this gameweek with just a small red arrow that would be not too bad.

I am hoping for a better week in GW36, when I think I am probably better set up than most other teams. I have 4 players blanking (3 United + Iheanacho), so my starting position is 10 players plus a free transfer. The 10 should reasonably be expected to feature, with perhaps the concerns over Cancelo and Lookman. For the transfer, I will remove one of my United players, and given that I have some cash in the bank I could literally bring any player in the game. The original thought was Salah for Bruno, but I am now edging towards DCL for Cavani instead. Two reasons for this, Bruno is probably the captain favourite for GW37 so handy to keep, plus DCL faces Sheffield United who conceded a lot against the greatest attacking force of Crystal Palace. Will wait to do the transfer until late in the week just in case.

As for Captain, I am going with Kane, surely he needs to return to the goals soon. Vice probably DCL.

transfer summary: Probably Calvert-Lewin for Cavani

Good luck everyone
