So less than two weeks to go now before the season gets under way. I hope you have enjoyed your summer break and feel refreshed for the long intense season ahead. Having said that, we have the unusual twist of a six week winter break for the World Cup to enjoy !!

My team doesn’t seem to be changing too much at the moment which I think must be a good thing. But there are a few niggling uncertainties.

Will Haaland be fit enough to start in GW1 ? The Community shield game might be the crunch game. He is on an individual training programme which isn’t ideal. Kane is an obvious replacement and has a great GW1 fixture, but then Haaland has Bournemouth in GW2. It’s a tricky call.

Perisic seems to have a similar uncertainty about him. That’s led me to move Mendy down to Raya and put Chilwell in for Perisic. It keeps the double Chelsea clean sheet in place. If I am giving up Perisic, I feel better upgrading him to Chilwell than taking him down to a Cash or Trippier. If Perisic gives way, I don’t have that James v Chilwell call – I just get both in.

There are definitely no compromises on Alexander Arnold or Cancelo. I am not sold on going for the cheaper routes into the Man City defence. Cancelo matched Trent for points last season and is 0.5M cheaper. If Trent is essential then so is Cancelo.

Chelsea seem to be loading up on quality defenders which gives me increased confidence in their defence, even though it might take time to gel. That heightens the appeal of doubling up on James and Chilwell who virtually play in the opposition penalty area and gives me FOUR out and out rampaging defenders who are stacked on points potential.

Salah and Luis Diaz seem glued to my team. Yes Diaz might be rotating more than we like and I think Robertson outscores him as that 3rd Liverpool player. But I prefer the team structure better with Diaz in. Neto is still the Twitter darling and backed that up with pre season returns already. Martinelli I do worry about minutes but fixtures are great. Rashford is a tempter for  0.5M more.

Five at the back drafts look sexy. But I don’t like the inflexibility of two very cheap mids. I think it’s almost committing you to an early wildcard because of the lack of flexibility to make changes to your team easily to jump on bandwagons.

Incredibly Jesus is the most owned player in the game currently. We never saw that coming back in May did we !!

No Spurs players is an obvious concern if Haaland stays over Kane. But no Spurs players have more than 30% ownership so they are NOT going to destroy your rank. Going without the popular highly owned players like Salah, Haaland and Jesus COULD !!
